A woman was abducted front her home, as well as possibly three of her children and a neighbor boy, and given a medical examination on board a craft. Carrying a "machine" of some sort, three beings lifted the woman from a couch and carried her by the arms. Her next memory was of a big, bright room with lots of "lights and buttons" and glass tubes containing liquid. She observed four or five humanoids on the craft and at least two human beings. The humanoids did not communicate with her, were coldly efficient, and made her feel like a guinea pig. They were 4-5 feet tall, with head coverings (helmets?), no noses, long fishlike mouths, orange hands (gloves?) with two or three big claws or fingers that opened "like a clasp." They had large oval eyes that wrapped around the side of the head. The pupils were big, black and round and moved a lot. Their suits were a fluorescent "silvery and blue" (the three beings in her home were described as wearing shiny, bright white uniforms). During the exam she was hooked up to a machine, probed with needles, given a blood pressure test and a gynecological exam. The beings were able to read her mind. One of the humans was bald, about 55, and talked with her and helped during the exam. They gave her a shot to make her forget, then carried her (floating?) out a door to be reunited with her children. The incident took 45 minutes to an hour. (Ref. 5, First, hand investigation).

At three o'clock in the morning a woman was awakened by a sound like an explosion. She heard a loud humming sound, walked out onto her front porch. There she saw a red, transparent ovoid object, 15 feet long and 6-8 feet high. On top was a bubble. Inside she saw a human figure standing up.

4:40 p.m. Two young boys spotted a strange object just before dark. Described as silver and looking like a "fish", this distant object may have been an airplane reflecting sunlight, except that it hovered at first then took off real fast. Besides that, the "fish" description has cropped up several times in this chrono where little publicity was given. "Kevin came home in near panic," said Mrs. Charles Whitehead, Princeton 'That's how I knew it wasn't just a little boys' joke." Her nine-year-old son and his friend. Teddy Waldroup, 7, reported seeing the unusual object in the sky while playing at the St Joseph School playground. (Princeton Daily Clarion, Oct. 18)

7:30 p.m. Witness reported a blimp-like object hovering in the distance over a neighbors house. The object was East and to the North slightly, when first observed. It moved, hovering slowly across his path, and disappeared heading south. The object resembled a large blimp like structure with flashing colored lights (red and green). As he drove closer he noticed that it did not have a tail like blimps. He rolled the window down expecting sounds of activity, but there was no noise. It suddenly seemed to gain energy and swiftly moved out of sight before he could get a better look at it, like a bullet from a gun. (MUFON 2560)

8:00 p.m. An 11-year-old girl and her cousin had been making a scarecrow in the front yard for Halloween. They heard a humming sound and thought that it was an airplane, but when the object that was producing the noise stopped dead above them, the humming quit. The object was saucer-shaped, silver gray on top, with bright lights along the bottom. They were so shocked that they didn't know what to do. So they just stood there and stared at it until what they described as "fogs" started to come out of the craft, then they ran into the house. There was a "pfft" sound when the "substance" was ejected. When their curiosity got the better of them, they went back into the yard. Three glowing white "fogs" or objects had come out of the object and one had circled the field. After this, the craft started to hum and headed towards the woods in the northeast. After a total of three minutes the object went below the tree-line and was lost to view. Witness had scoop mark type scar on her leg below her knee. (MUFON Indiana, FI Worley; Ridge files)

Two men, driving on Route 23 to New York City from work, saw a large, round, silver craft hover over a field, then land. They stopped and got out of the car as the object descended. Then the driver got scared and drove off. The other man conversed with seven beings (four men and three women?) who got out of the UFO, The witness' credibility was questioned. (Ref.5).,

Police and citizens saw as many as eight yellow-orange, highly maneuverable objects. (UFOE II, Section VIII)

Oct. 17, 1973; Johnson City, TN
Several sightings of UFOs: circular copper-colored object that descended, hovered near ground, took off straight up; tall humanoid being who accosted children; glowing red sphere that alternately hovered and moved. (UFOE II, Section VIII)

Oct. 17, 1973; Crowley, LA
Offshore oil platform crew saw oblong object with several colored lights hovering about 1,000 feet overhead emitting a whining sound. As object descended to within 100 feet, platform's electric power system failed. (UFOE II, Section VIII)

Oct. 17, 1973; Powhatan, LA
At least 10 reports from central Louisiana. Pulsating luminous object changing colors seen near woods, illuminating the terrain; luminous object hovering and gliding along above ground in a field; luminous object with window-like markings hovering overhead." (UFOE II, Section VIII)

A silver, oval-shaped object landed on C.S, Rt 29, 300 feet ahead of Paul Brown's car, forcing him to make a panic stop. Two small 4-4-1/2 foot beings clad in silver suits and white gloves appeared underneath the UFO. They had reddish faces and white hair. Brown stepped halfway out of his car with a gun in his hand. The beings turned and reentered the craft, which took off with a whooshing sound. Brown fired several shots at it with no apparent, effect. (Ref. 5, UFOE II, Section VIII, XII)

Oct. 17, 1973; Eupora, MS
A 50-foot wide, dome-shaped UFO hovered 2-3 feet above Highway 82 at twilight, seemingly suspended on a "beam of light." The primary witness' car lights went out and the engine died when it was 100 yards from the craft. Another car stopped just behind him. A second UFO hovered about 60 feet above the first, illuminating it with a light. Both craft were similar, like inverted cups, and had greenish blue flashing lights. A catfish-like creature came out from the top of the lower UFO, holding onto a handrail. It had gray, fish-like skin, a wide mouth, one glowing eye, flipper-like feet and webbing between the legs like a "flying squirrel." It had feather-like object on its back which opened and closed when it moved. (Ref. 5, UFOE II, Section VIII, XII).

Alleged humanoid photo. Police Chief Jeff Greenhaw photographed a 5' foot being in a silvery suit after investigating a reported UFO landing. The Chief stopped his car in the road and the thing moved slowly like a robot toward the car. When 10 feet away it turned and began running. The Chief pursued in the car, but the being accelerated and disappeared when the car spun off the road, "He was running in a very odd manner, from side to side, arms down to his sides, and it looked as if he had springs under his feet to propel him. He could take 10 feet. ... at one step," (UFO Casebook, Ref. 5, First hand investigation).

Oct. 17, 1973; Loxley, AL
Clarence Patterson and his pickup truck were sucked up into a huge/cigar-shaped object with a green light. He was pulled out of the truck by about six robot-like beings who seemed to read his mind. The next thing he remembered, he was back on the highway-going about 90 mph in the truck. He may have been on board for up to 30 minutes. A sulphury smell was noted during the sighting. (Ref. 5, First hand investigation, UFOE II, Section VIII)

Some ufologists believe that the tin foil man was a robotic scout for an extra-terrestrial landing craft, while sceptics maintain that it was all a hoax perpetrated by Greenhaw and an unknown accomplice who was clad in a tin foil costume.
The images that Greenhaw snapped were collected and sent for analysis by Walt Andrus, a director of MUFON.
The conclusion drawn by the analysts was that the encounter was most likely a fabrication... probably inspired by all the furore surrounding the recent Pascagoula case.
If was presumed that aluminium foil or an asbestos fire suit was used to create the unusual look of the creature.
Interestingly, the negatives of the Greenhaw pictures that were studied by MUFON seem to show images of a “flying saucer” amongst them, although no one ever claimed to have photographed the object initially reported.
Chief Greenhaw garnered no financial gain or positive notoriety due to his experience and, while he has managed to rebuild some semblance of a normal life, all reports indicate that he continues to regret his encounter with this unknown.
To this day, however, Greenhaw and his supporters insist that he had an actual encounter with an alien being.

Weird but I do believe this was a real encounter, some proportions of the alien in the suit are different than an ordinary man, his neck is much longer and judging by the image the joint of the wrist is higher up the arm giving the appearance of a long hand which may be proportionally correct for the creature inside the suit...Fire suits aren't designed like the one in the image, yes one could have been tailored but I believe the witness...Its truly a strange contact report...

It was around midnight on the 18th of October, 1954 - and Renzo was in the process of parking his car in his villa's garage when he first noticed an eerie glow emanating from a nebulous source. He promptly brushed it off as coming from the moon, however, and parked his car before ascending the flight of stairs that connected to the principal lane of the villa. He was likely shocked to suddenly catch sight of a bizarre figure stood at the top of the steps, standing just adjacent to a nearby tree. This ostensibly alien enigma had a height of roughly 1.3m, and was stood in such a way that its left side was facing towards the witness.

According to the retelling of the incident given by one of the primary press sources for the story that exists nowadays, Pugina added that he immediately recognised the creature as being a Martian, because 'he couldn't have been anything else but a Martian!' The entity was surrounded by a gentle, warm luminescence, and was seemingly clad in armour. It wore a helmet with a transparent front section, and through this Pugina was able to see that the creature had 'Oriental' eyes shaped like almonds, underneath an almost non-existent forehead. Its skin was of an olive hue - 'as if it had been splashed witih car motor oil'.

Most of the light emanating from the enigmatic entity seemed to be concentrated around the top of its head, and the upper part of its body was covered in slightly glowing overalls comprised of fish-like metallic scales. Its lower body - from halfway down its trunk - was completely contained within a large 'pipe' of 50cm in height and a width of 20cm. No legs were observed. Attached horizontally to this aforementioned pipe was another, smaller, pipe-like structure. It was positioned just a few centimeters above the ground, and was between 1.5-1.8m long. Towards the end of this smaller pipe was a glowing disc-shaped object described as being 'as large as a bicycle wheel'. The upper section of this object was domed, and it was orientated horizontally over the end of the pipe - and yet it seemed as if there was no actual physical contact between the two objects.

Presumably having to overcome a significant degree of shock and bewilderment in order to obey his natural urge to investigate, Pugina started to mount the steps towards the entity. However, in just a few seconds his previous apprehension would prove to be very much justified - as the creature promptly swivelled its upper half towards him with a robotic movement. Its head seemed to rotate in the same direction, but at a slower pace - implying that the entity's movements were being controlled by some weird mechanism. In its right hand, the alleged Martian wielded a flashlight-like object with what appeared to be light bulb inside of it, producing a faint glow. The creature pointed this odd contraption directly at the witness, and he was instantly rendered immobile.

Renzo was stuck in this position for quite some time, and it was during these presumably-terrifying moments that he was able to best describe the facial features detailed above. He described that the entity's face seemed normal yet striking, which seems to be something of an oxymoron. Managing to inch his hand down into his pocket, he was able to somehow break the being's spell by grasping a bunch of keys. Pugina was able to advance a few more steps towards the creature - and pleaded with it not to leave by uttering the word 'Marte' ('Mars') - probably as an attempted show of understanding between the himself and the alien.

However, this was clearly not nearly as successful as the man (who was, by the way, a salesman of stock cubes) was met with what has been described as a disappointed grimace from the creature. Pugina took another step towards the irritable invader, and it hovered one meter off the ground before flying away at this same elevation along the lane - quickly following its course below the tree branches while emitting a faint buzzing sound. Desperate not to squander his potential Martian contact opportunity, Renzo broke into a run behind the creature - but quickly lost the entity when it disappeared behind a bend.

The entire incident had lasted no more than a few minutes. Renzo quickly made his way back home and deposited himself in his house - shivering and in shock courtesy of the bizarre happening. Mrs. Pugina had previously been sleeping, but of course the tendrils of sleep let her go free when her panicked husband hurtled into the household. He was in a seriously sorry state after the event, and could not bring himself to speak. According to his wife, he would keep shivering for the entire night. Renzo would be bedridden for a further two days, according to the story as told by the local press.

Trace evidence backing up the potential truth of this report was found on the gravel lane in the villa the following day. It was described as being an odourless, dry and greaseless oily substance - and seemed to have greatly expanded in size after a few more days of being left to its own devices. It is unclear what became of this spreading slick, but I think that it can be safely assumed to have disappeared at some later point. The local Carabinieri (Italian domestic police) testified to Renzo's veracity as a witness by saying that he was a 'normal' individual with no known history of psychological issues or drinking.

The Bizarre Canadian Humanoid Encounter Wave of 1968

It seems that in the world of the paranormal and of UFOs there are certain years that for whatever reason seem to harbor waves of utterly strange accounts. I have covered this sort of phenomenon here with the year 1965 and its spate of very bizarre sightings, but all over the world there have been those years that just seem to be magnets for the odd. In 1968 there were various spikes of UFO activity all over the world, and one place where this was definitely felt was the nation of Canada. In this year there was a nearly unprecedented spike and intense increase in reports of strange things in the sky and what seems to have been their humanoid occupants. Here are some of the strangest of a very strange year.

Much of the year of weirdness was compiled by respected researcher Albert Rosales, and it really seems to have begun to emerge in full force in spring of 1968. In April of that year we have a report from UFO BC that originates from West Vancouver, British Columbia, where two witnesses were sitting in a car at Whytecliff Park waiting for a friend. They allegedly were snapped out of their lazy daydreaming by a bright white light that slowly moved towards the edge of the nearby wood, where it disappeared behind some trees. Immediately after this, the forest disgorged a “small glowing humanoid,” which moved about with very quick, precise movements, and was so bright that it was impossible to make out any clothing or facial features. The strange little being then looked at them and went back into the woods, after which the bright light they had originally seen lifted up into the air over the tree line and sped off.

minimini2.jpg

That same month, a report from the CASUFO files tells of a witness in Chicoutimi, Quebec by the name of Mrs. Tremblay. She claims that she had been walking on her way to a restaurant when she saw hovering in the sky a strange object with a beam shooting down to the ground beneath it. According to the witness, the beam of light then trained on her, and she squeezed her eyes closed in the sudden, blinding brightness, only to open them and find that the object was gone and nowhere to be seen. The dazed woman then decided to head home, where she says she saw a small humanoid being with dark blue eyes and dressed in an odd-looking seamless white overall loitering around her home. According to the witness, as soon as the tiny man realized he had been seen he vanished into thin air right before her eyes. Apparently other humanoids dressed in similar clothing would be seen in the area over the next few months.

In summer of that year we have quite a few otherworldly encounters. In Sarnia, Ontario, there was a 10-year-old girl who looked outside her house one June evening to see a glowing humanoid with a bald head and no facial features sitting at the bench near their garage. She would claim that when it stood up it was around 6 feet tall, and that when the frightened girl called for her father it disappeared. That same month, two witnesses referred to as Mrs. B. L. and Mrs. A. B. were walking along near a parking lot in Laval-des-Rapides, Quebec, when they saw some strange object eclipse the full moon in the sky. As they peered at this strange anomaly they could make out two smallish humanoid beings floating through the air towards them, and as they got closer it could be seen that they had black skin and were dressed in tight fitting one-piece outfits. The two odd creatures descended to just a few feet over the ground, upon which one of them allegedly produced “a pitchfork” and began poking the ground with it before the two women fled the scene in fear.

In July of 1968 the oddness continued, starting with an odd report from July 2, when a woman in Alexis de Montcalm, Quebec, saw a procession of 20 tiny green men with pointed noses and mushroom-shaped hats file by her home at night. That very same day, two constables in St. Thomas, Quebec, spotted two little weird humanoids with bulbous, over-sized heads that stood only 2 feet tall each. The beings apparently ran through a drainage ditch and the officers gave chase, only to vanish into thin air as the police closed in. Quebec seems to have actually been a hotspot of such encounters at the time, because on July 26 two boys riding their bicycles near the airport at Riviere Du Loup claimed they had seen two short, three-foot tall gray skinned humanoids run out from out behind a hangar to disappear into the brush. Just 2 days later, on July 28, five young witnesses in St. Stanislas De Kostka, Quebec, saw two UFOs with red halos land not far away, and when they went to investigate they say they encountered a humanoid that stood 4-feet tall and had a large head, no discernible neck, large round eyes, a flat nose, and brown skin that was “wrinkled, scabby, with bumps.” They claimed that when they shone their flashlight on it the weird creature reeled and backed away to a barn, but would later knock on the window of the house while making “a mooing sound like a cow” before disappearing into the night and flying off in one of the UFOs.

That same month found other similarly baffling reports from other areas of Canada as well, and in some instances the witnesses even claimed to have been abducted. One such account comes from a woman who says she was teleported from her Ontario home to the yard, where she saw a large glowing disc descend to produce three humanoid “aliens” that allegedly dragged her into their ship. She says that she was put on a floating bed and operated on, with them cutting open her brain in an attempt to put a “tracking device” in her head and then healing the wound with the wave of an inscrutable device. It is unclear what the creatures looked like as the report, first published in Michael D. Swords’ Grassroots UFOs, doesn’t provide a proper description.

That summer brought more weirdness on into August, with one quite bizarre report on UFO BC and coming from Vancouver, British Columbia. The witnesses are described as being a group of young boys who were out playing with BB guns at the Shaugnessy Golf course when they spied a metallic object about the size of a small car that looked like a “flying saucer” sitting there upon the grass. The curious kids approached it to and rapped on its surface, then one of them began to walk around it, and as he did he saw standing there a pale blue humanoid with a white jumpsuit and red sash tied around its waist. The strange report reads as follows:

The witness said, “My name is Kim” and put his right hand on his heart. The creature responded by holding his palms upward and made a sound, but he didn’t seem to “have a tongue”. At one point he put out his right arm and nodded for the witness to do the same thing with his left, and he was allowed to compare his hand with the alien’s and except for the pallor they were very similar. At this point he heard a voice in his head that spoke the words, “Would you like to pray”? And he bowed and put his arms pointing down with palms towards the witness. He was a bit embarrassed and to get a laugh from his friends who were literally “stunned” he made a gesture towards this BB gun in his right pocket. The alien seemed to sense this and the witness had to apologize for this and explained that it was only a bb-gun and was not real, the alien seemed to understand. The witness said a few more things and then waved at the alien and the alien waved back. The witness then rejoined his friends and they left the area.

Also in August we get back to Quebec and its high strangeness, where in Montreal three men named Guy Gagne, Jean-Guy Girouard, and Carol Marquis were on their way back home from a fair when they saw a 3-foot tall creature that looked similar to a monkey but with a disproportionately large head walking along with what appeared to be great difficulty. The otherworldly being made its way to a streetlamp and then purportedly suddenly nimbly leapt a full 30 feet to the other side of the street before disappearing. Later on that month, on August 28, a group of schoolchildren in Coleraine, also in Quebec, saw a strange being lurking about a cemetery over the course of 4 days. The strange looking creature was described as looking like a 4-foot tall man with a bald head, a bushy black beard, and rough, scaly skin like a lizard’s that was red in color. On the fourth day the bizarre being then apparently boarded a blue, white and red “flying saucer,” that shot up into the sky trailing a plume of thick smoke, which was seen by several adults who the children had called to investigate.

alien-abduction1.jpg

More Quebec humanoid madness would follow in September, where we have a string of such reports from the region. On September 14, three young girls in Drummondville saw a tiny, dwarf-like man in an overcoat and hat walking about with movements like those of a robot, who apparently had a look of terror on his face when he realized the kids had seen him. The curious little man then supposedly vanished into thin air. The next day, the same witnesses saw the same humanoid being step out of a circle of red light, this time wearing a dark blue jumpsuit, after which it did its strange robot walk behind a tree and disappeared, apparently leaving odd footprints behind. On September 21, two different girls saw what they called “a Martian” on the roof of their school in Coaticook , Quebec, which they said had “a green face with no nose, mouth or hair” and which emitted sparks when it moved. Later that week, on the 28th, a family in Asbestos, Quebec, saw a green rectangle in the sky that discharged a yellow orange disc from which several humanoid occupants were said to exit and float around before getting back into the craft and speeding off. A similar object was seen by several other witnesses in the area as well.

These are just a sampling of some of the dozens of reports of bizarre humanoid and UFO encounters that came pouring in during the year of 1968 all over Canada, and in particular Quebec. Researcher Albert Rosales has compiled these and many others like this in his research in a collection here from his article “HUMANOID ENCOUNTERS and other Experiences in Quebec an embarrassment of riches,” if you want to go even deeper down the rabbit hole. Why should there be such a high concentration of sightings during this one year? Were any of these cases related to each other, and what were these entities? Were they aliens or interdimensional interlopers, and if so, what did they want and why in 1968? It is all rather baffling to say the least, and leaves one wondering just what was going on here in this weird year of utter strangeness.

It is all rather baffling to say the least, and leaves one wondering just what was going on here in this weird year of utter strangeness.

.
Yeah, that's a great couple of examples Nivek  ... but then , this subject being what it is, being a logical-sounding encounter doesn't necessarily guarantee 'authenticity' any more or less than these 'weird looking offerings' does it mate. ... "And I suppose that I used the phrase 'weird' as a general catchall for the claims that somehow seem to have that little something that you can't quite put your finger on?... but something in the back of your mind is telling you that there just could be something in it?" ... for example, do we just simply write off any case in which the otherwise seemingly reliable witness gradually elaborates on their previous testimonies? [Penniston and Burroughs spring to mind].. and sometimes loose all credibility years later having proclaimed multiple subsequent strange encounters? [Kenneth Arnold-esk.] ... such as this 'weird one' from Finland On January 7, 1970.... A Strange Alien Encounter in Finland | Mysterious Universe
60324588_341239056536317_236854235054997504_n.jpg

...Unusual case originally... but for me at least, quite possible! ... But then what would tend to hold me back from really endorsing this 'claim' is the fact that Heinonen claimed that "between 1970 and 1972 he had over two dozen further UFO experiences, sometimes involving a beautiful blonde alien who would appear and talk to him. This humanoid was described as possessing some sort of spherical object and claimed to be over 180 years old, and was sometimes accompanied by a dwarfish creature about 3 feet tall and wearing a grey suit with white stripes. He also claimed that he had received a green pen from her at some point, but would say that it had gone missing, and he also complained that every time he tried to take a picture of the creatures his camera would vanish into thin air or be knocked out of his hand by an unseen force." ... but does that really exclude the original story from being genuine? ... that's a tough one, his co- experiencer has not wavered or craved for more publicity as far as I can see, ... and we also have the 'on-the-spot' medical examiner Dr Pauli Kajanoja's testimony that would go some way to corroborate their claim ...
l think the men have suffered a great shock. Viljo was very red in the face and seemed a little swollen. Both seemed absent-minded. They talked quickly and incoherently. I could not find anything clinically wrong with Heinonen. He did not feel well, but that could have been his stomach reacting to the shock. The symptoms he described are like those after being exposed to radioactivity. Unfortunately, I had no instrument to measure that. As to the black urine, it seems inexplicable. Possibly it could have been blood in it, but this cannot go on for several months. If blood samples had been taken, they might have revealed changes in his blood. Both men seemed sincere, and I don’t think they had made the thing up. I’m sure they were in a state of shock when they came to me; something must have frightened them.
... and also there's the fact that at the time of reporting the incident "both men were known as being honest and reliable the case was treated as very promising by ufologists at the time." ... So just like in the Kenneth Arnold case, I tend to try and dismiss the 'bunkum and need for continued recognition' that follows in quite a number of decent cases and concentrate [as much as possible] on the original sources and any corroborating information that may be there, and just like Arnold's Mount Rainier Flying Saucers , I believe their original report! ... which makes me say... "some of the things these aliens do are weird aren't they mate.

Cheers Buddy.

no exception to this is our good friend Karl 12's The Great Ohio UFO Wave of October 1973 [I think that was the thread title, but can't seem to find it just now] in which he highlighted just what an exceptional year that was for UFO events

Hey thanks mate and by all accounts it really was an exceptional year for freaky reports - here's what one politician said about it:

"The increased sightings nationally could lead to a state of panic and hysteria and we ought to be concerned about it."

U.S. Rep. J. Edward Roush (D-Ind.) Columbus Citizen Journal Oct. 18, 1973

Lots of links are now gone for good but here are some relevant ones:

When it comes to the 'weird ones' then always remembered this very interesting 'humanoid' report from England, 1926.

The figures were dressed in a style reminiscent of the famous Michelin Man. They wore bulky suits made from silver-grey rubber tubes, “transparent dome-like helmets” and black boots. The helmets were connected by tubes to small tanks strapped on their backs.

1926: Humanoid Hide and Seek

Also sounds quite a bit like this chap spotted in Belgium in 1973 (who was said to 'walk up the wall like a fly').

I have read many of those reports but never connected the fact that so many were reported to have happened on October 17, 1973. Eighteen different events in twelve different states, all with different witnesses. I don't see how you can explain that as anything but paranormal.

On April 25, 1977 in Pampa Lluscuma (near Putre), Chile a soldier was in shock after a strange, five-day saga with a UFO. Six members of an army patrol saw two bright objects descending from the sky.
Cpl. Armando Valdes, the patrol leader,
valdes2.jpg

set out alone to investigate and, according to the men, simply vanished. Fifteen minutes later, they said, he reappeared, tried to speak and only managed to utter the sentence “You don’t know who we are or where we come from but we will be back soon.” before he passed out.
The date on his watch had been advanced five days, and he now had about a week’s growth of beard.
1977 - The Armando Valdes UFO - Five-Day Ordeal (ufocasebook.com)
... I think this case is right to be included in the 'Weird Ones' thread for several obvious reasons... the first of course being the evident massive 'time dilation' aspect of the case [five days beard growth and the watch discrepancy] and judging by the corroborative-witness-power of there being seven other compatible statements to back this story up , I think a pretty decent possibility of it being an authentic case of a CE3-kind. ... The weirdness in this encounter being rather obvious, ... but then the 'weirdness' doesn't end there... because in this case [as in far too many others] .. in years to come several of the actual witnesses ... Raúl Salinas and Valdes himself start the familiar trait of 'some' previously-believable eye witnesses of elaborating on their original statements and cognizance of the encounter. ... and then henceforth into the realms of obvious fantasy,... for instance with Salinas' seemingly powerful need for celebrity making me of the firm opinion that it has only left his integrity suffering beyond repair .
Raúl Salinas appears on the scene for the first time on the television program "OVNI". Since then, ufologists have set their eyes on this simple construction worker, whose account, by moments incoherent, is plagued by extraordinary elements, which include the visit of a strange woman called Amalia and trips in flying saucers to other planets. But let's start from the beginning.
According to what Salinas said in an interview with members of the now-defunct Equipo Superior de Investigaciones Ovnilógicas (ESIO, Superior Team of Ufological Investigations), after leaving the military service that he was fulfilling in Putre, he returned to his home some six months after the UFO experience of April 1977 and fell into a deep depression. "At that time, when I was like that, I opened the window [of the bedroom], looked upward, and spoke with 'Them'. There was something intense with ‘them’", he indicated in a passage of that conversation. Obviously, when he spoke of "Them", he was referring to the aliens.
Salinas recovered from his depression and began to have, in the early '90s, strange dreams about flying saucers that took him to the Andes Mountain Range, in the company of a woman called Amalia,(16) who is moreover the queen of a planet, with an Ummite-like symbol on her breast. According to Salinas, the ship in which he travels is the same one that he claims to have seen on the Pampa Lluscuma in 1977. He describes it as gigantic, the size of a football stadium (i.e., a soccer stadium; he was referring specifically to the immense Estadio Nacional de Chile). Salinas, who calls himself the messenger of this strange civilisation, claims to have travelled to Amalia's world, where he has seen nuclear explosions that could also affect our planet. In several passages of the interview the ex-conscript repeated that he was waiting for the time to go away with his friends, for whom he was ready to leave his family.
It is not surprising that Salinas thinks that the symbols he has seen on and near his space companions are "Ummite words". The H, in effect, would be a symbol that, according to the aliens, will protect him if he draws it on the door of his house. His escorts, tall, with short white hair, blue eyes, and with the lower part of their bodies similar to a kangaroo's, have predicted to him that the year 2004 is going to have "something big", possibly the explosion of an atomic bomb.
Certainly, as is common in this type of situation, the narrators are capable only of cooking up a story to the extent of their possibilities, and Salinas's account is rather basic, poor in nuance, and somewhat rough.
... and Valdes' own grab for continued publicity [and no doubt fortune] being no better, by a means of gradually turning his original [believable].. ['not really knowing what happened?].. into a what he would have us believe, "an ongoing striking religious revelation to pass on to us from our lord" through gradual paid interviews and book sales does this field of study untold damage and supplies powerful ammunition and much titter-fodder for the already smug naysaying-debunkers that aren't willing to look beyond such silly human traits and delve back to the original testimonies and corroborative circumstantial evidence that might actually point to the truth of the matter... and summarily point at such later-asininity as evidence of the credibility of all eight of the original witness testimonies!
MAGONIA Supplement No. 50 (waitrose.com)
.... Yes it sure is an awful obfuscatory trait of human nature that blights the ordinary open minded students view of the whole history of genuine ufology.... and only makes the task of eliminating the detritus from the legitimate cases almost impossible to achieve in this endeavour, .. but all in all, I do hold the opinion that this 'original case' and what the witnesses attested to back in the immediate aftermath in 1977 gives a strong impression of authenticity, and indeed I find it a very interesting ... and weird case . ... how about you?

Cheers.

Well said mate and certainly a bit of a flap - here's Muhammad Ali discussing the October, 1973 Georgia sightings on 'The Tonight Show'.

Don't know your thoughts on John Keel but he discusses (and claims he successfully predicted) the October 1973 Ohio UFO wave below.

The Great UFO Wave: October, 1973 INTERVIEW WITH JOHN A. KEEL

"As for the coverage this flap is getting, it is superb. UPI is doing excellent wrap-up stories on it. The NBC newscast has been covering it every night this week and every night last week. This may be because NBC is preparing a White Paper on UFOS. Three or four weeks ago I was called in by the young man who is working on it, and we had dinner together. It is being produced by Fred Freed, who produced a number of the award-winning White Papers. In the course of my conversation a month ago with these people, I laid out some predictions based on the patterns of previous flaps. I really put my neck out. All of my predictions are coming true. I was able to tell them that the sightings would be concentrated in the Mississippi Valley and move up to the Ohio Valley by the end of October. They are seen everywhere, but the heaviest concentration seems to be in the Mississippi Valley. According to my statistics, around or on October 21 is the day when the biggest flaps are likely to occur. Of course the twenty-fourth produces some interesting manifestations. This year October 24 is on a Wednesday, and I wouldn't be surprised if the UFO flap will peak on that day, then gradually start to subside. We will have a brief low, and then next March, all hell is going to break loose.."

As I referenced earlier ... 1973 was not just a good year for some of the "Weird cases" , it was in fact a pretty mighty year in terms of being a 'Humanoid UFO Wave' as this fine article points out... The 1973 Humanoid UFO Wave - UFO Insight "beginning in August 1973 and lasting until late-December, the entire planet, but in particular, the United States experienced a wave of very specific sightings. What followed would be reported after report of “humanoid occupants” inside or emerging from UFOs, or humanoid creatures approaching, and on occasion, even giving chase to witnesses."

... all great stuff, ... and all in all, The Mansfield/Coyne Helicopter/UFO Incident of 18th October is still [imo] one of the more compelling cases on record.

Hi guys, as you will doubtless be aware, there are some mighty great and compulsive cases from yesteryear to be studied with a certain degree of substance to them. ..And most of them have featured on this site. .. , and no exception to this is our good friend Karl 12's The Great Ohio UFO Wave of October 1973 [I think that was the thread title, but can't seem to find it just now] in which he highlighted just what an exceptional year that was for UFO events, such as The Pascagoula Case and one of my personal favourites The Laurence Coyne Mansfield UFO Incident , in fact that year was an absolute humdinger of a UFO flap with many convincing reports that capture the imagination ... and then in that same time period there were also several 'less palatable' reports that do not seem to hold the same gravitas as say The Coyne Helicopter event. ... simply because they are just so strange and often damned unbelievable! ... I mention this thread not only because of it's brilliance, but also because of it's relevance to the much lesser case that I would like to offer as a kick off for this thread.
On October 17th 1973 there are no less than '18' entries in the NICAP chronological registry from the American mid-west alone.....

... some pretty interesting indeed, and some not so much. ... one of which is the often sneered at case known as the Falkville Alabama Jeff Greenhaw Alien Photo case. Detailed Report of Jeff Greenhaw's Falkville Incident Alien Encounter Testimonial | Metaphysical Articles: Interesting Articles, Links and Other Media

Where%2Bentity%2Bwas%2Bsaid%2Bto%2Bdisappear.jpg

"After a half-mile chase, the creature disappeared here on the road," said Chief Greenhaw.
... this is where Jeff claims to have lost sight of ... this....

Well guys,... weird or just unbelievable? .. .. either way, it certainly wasn't an advantageous night's work for Chief Jeff Greenhaw, because it lost him his job, credibility and apparently even his marriage!

Cheers.
Yes, The Falkville Incident is one of those unusual cases where examination of the motives is possibly as interesting as the case itself. As 1963 has pointed out, Greenhaw seemingly lost almost everything important to him. Assuming the case is a hoax, one has to wonder just what he hoped to gain by the notoriety.

If it was a hoax, I don't think Greenhaw was in on it. Surely, he would have been aware that making claims about a UFO encounter would be a career killer. Especially so in Bible Belt USA, where many people would blame Satan for such a thing.

If I remember correctly, weren't there UFO sightings around Falkville that night?

THE DISTORTION THEORY: A NEW PERSPECTIVE CENNINA INCIDENT (caravaca102.blogspot.com)

... the main reason that I think it a weird case is because of the 'supposed-UFO/Craft' being obviously too small [unless it was a T.A.R.D.I.S-type-vehicle] to have been their actual means of transport! ... I say this because as far as I can ascertain, none of the witnesses [if indeed there were any additional none-bandwagon witnesses] testifying to 'the two aliens' getting in to , and flying off in the tiny structure. ... 'which I personally would presume was in fact just some kind of scientific exploration machine... somewhat akin to our own required kit when we eventually land on some remote planet. ... [but that's could be just my imagination] ... and the report was that "it had all just vanished... the aliens and all the paraphernalia into thin air", just leaving behind 'a hole in the ground'! ... Was it some kind of "beam us up Scotty" escape from an uncomfortable situation? ... or did they have time to gather their equipment [the strange looking object] and scramble it into 'a just out of view larger UFO' and ascend rapidly before Rosa turned round [and out of the line of vision of the possible other witnesses.. ie, the pig-farming brothers?] ... As a presenter of this old case, I have to say that the problematic features of this 'quaint-old-claim' hard hard to square... and in fact no matter how many times I run the known details through my mind, I still have serious doubts over the validity of 'this whole story'... and am well minded that 1954 was smack in the middle of that 'special period of those great old SYFY pictures that we all look back on with great nostalgia ! ... and more than likely was the catalyst for a great number of tomfoolery-episodes!..... but there is also something at the back of my mind that says .... "just maybe?". ... what do you guys think about this case?
