There was an article in our local paper saying that a survey found our state in the U.S. to have administered more vaccines than other states (weird since there are only 2.1 million in our state - maybe it was per capita), but that we ranked 37th in getting the vaccines to the most vulnerable (which seems to be the reservations).

I can understand some reluctance to get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines because it's a new genetic RNA/DNA technology being used...The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is made using viral vector technology which has been in use since the 70s using a whole microbe approach and that has also been used in recent times for the Ebola virus...I don't think many people understand the differences and pros and cons of each type of vaccine, they are listening to hearsay and half truths and whatnot...Also many religious folk wont take the Johnson & Johnson vaccine because it uses stem cells...Here's a simple straightforward comparison of the different types of vaccines in this link below...

Officials to provide update after mass vaccination site closes early due to adverse reactions

DENVER, Colorado — People with vaccine appointments were turned away from the mass vaccination site at Dick's Sporting Goods Park after some recipients of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine onsite had an adverse reaction, according to a spokesperson for Centura Health.

Of the more than 1,700 people who received vaccinations at the site Wednesday, Centura Health said 11 patients experienced symptoms like nausea and dizziness. Medical staff on site determined two individuals required additional observation and out of an abundance of caution, Centura transported them to nearby hospitals.

About 640 patients were turned away and will be automatically rescheduled for another vaccine clinic on Sunday, April 11, Centura Health said. The site will be administering Pfizer doses on Sunday, which were previously allocated and scheduled for use for Sunday’s appointments.

Officials with Centura Health are hosting news conference Thursday at 2 p.m. to provide more details on the temporary operational pause at the vaccination site.

9NEWS will live stream the news conference in the video player above, on 9NEWS streaming devices, on the 9NEWS YouTube channel and on the 9NEWS app.

Officials said appointments were postponed for the rest of the day Wednesday as a precaution as they investigate.

"Following the administration of the J&J vaccine and during onsite observation, we saw a limited number of adverse reactions to the vaccine," a statement from Centura Health reads.

“We’re committed to providing safe community clinics, and we are so grateful that the clinic today properly observed and helped patients with immediate side effects. We know it can be alarming to hear about people getting transported to the hospital, and we want to reassure Coloradans that the CDC and public health are closely monitoring all the authorized vaccines continually. From what we know, today’s side effects were consistent with what can be expected,” said Scott Bookman, COVID-19 Incident Commander.

From the above article, it seems most of the reactions to the Johnson & Johnson vaccination were nausea and dizziness, 11 out of 1700 with 2 going to the hospital for further observation...Pfizer and Moderna have had more serious reactions than that and I havent heard of any vaccination sites closing because of their vaccines...Almost sounds like a corporate strategy to take out the competition, since the people being rescheduled are not being offered the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as they were first expected to get but are instead being offered the Pfizer vaccine...Dirty pool tactics...IMO

I'm scheduled to get vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson shot tomorrow afternoon...

The local news just said that people over 60 can now find a location they want and make an appointment instead of waiting for an email to get a random vaccine. I am going to log on later and see if I an get an appointment for a J&J shot. That is the one my grandson got in Arizona yesterday.

I never thought I would need to get vaccinated for anything again, I've never got a flu shot and the last time I was vaccinated for anything was in the early 90s in the Navy and that shot was a Yellow fever vaccine...It got me terribly sick, worse than the flu, there were a few more on my ship who got as sick as I did too...Since then I've not been vaccinated with the exception of a tetanus shot, I've had one of those a few years ago, but now here we are lining up for mass Covid vaccinations, Yay...

Me too. I had a tetanus shot in 2016, but have never had the flu shot and thought I would never need another vaccination. I want to travel to Australia eventually and I thought I might need some vaccine for that but other wise, I never planned on getting another vaccine.

I really don't want this covid vaccine however there's no other viable realistic option to get out of and get past this pandemic...There's too many covid strains out there and some are deadlier than others, too many to take chances without vaccination...

Thanks China...

Apparently three other states shut down vaccination sites with people having reactions to the Johnson & Johnson shot...

North Carolina sites halt J&J shots after adverse reactions

North Carolina health officials said on Thursday that they stopped administering Johnson & Johnson doses at a mass vaccination site in Raleigh and at clinics in Hillsborough and Chapel Hill after at least 26 people experienced adverse reactions, including fainting.

Four people were taken to hospitals for further examination, and state and federal health officials are reviewing the matter.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted that reactions like fainting are not uncommon after someone is vaccinated, though it is reviewing reports of adverse reactions in North Carolina and three other states. All those taken to hospitals are expected to recover, local health officials said.

“Right now, we are working with NC DHHS (the state Department of Health and Human Services) and the CDC to further evaluate the situation to assure everyone is confident in the continued safety of our vaccine operations,” said a statement from Kim McDonald, medical director at Wake County Human Services.

Wake County announced Thursday evening that it stopped administering Johnson & Johnson doses at PNC Arena after 18 of the more than 2,300 people vaccinated experienced adverse reactions, including four individuals who were taken to hospitals and are expected to be released.

The decision to halt J&J vaccines at PNC Arena was made with less than two hours of appointments left to be administered. People who were at the site were then given Pfizer vaccines or allowed to reschedule their existing J&J appointments.

A pair of clinics in Hillsborough and Chapel Hill also elected to stop offering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and are in the process of rescheduling 350 appointments for people who were set to receive their single-dose J&J shot on Friday.
