My emails have stopped

I've done everything I can think of:

cleared cache
removed ad-ons
restarted computer after each effort
checked notification preferences on all the sites I visit
checked my security settings for gmail

As of Thursday November 16th, I have not received any email.

Is there something else I can try?

Maybe no one is sending emails to u?

Try to email that other email which is not working and see if that works.

Everybody has a webmail version of their email.

Log in to the browser webmail client for your account and see if you are getting mail. If you aren't getting mail, checking it isn't very interesting. This is the first thing to check.

The possibilities are:
1. You haven't paid your ISP bill or your ISP has gone out of business. This isn't a first choice since you can blog.

2. No one likes you anymore. This is easy to test. I have about 12 email addresses and just send a message to myself. You could just send a message to yourself if you only have one email. You shouldn't be blocking yourself.

3. Your email provider wants you to change your password.

4. Your mailbox is full.
It doesn't hurt to periodically delete all the bulk mail from your mailbox. The various spam and ads don't have a lot of value. Nowadays this isn't likely.

5. Someone else is using your mailbox.

6. You are blocking almost everybody.

On looking at your action list, it looks you are using webmail (I use a standalone non-browser email client).

I use multiple browsers so I would check with a different browser.

Can you log in and send email to someone else (logout and login first)? I notice you didn't do that. Hopefully you remember your password? Make sure before you log out.

Ouch! Luckily, I know that isn't the case. :p I only have one email account and I do not block anyone, ever. Not even on any message boards. Anything I don't want to receive, I throw into my spam folder. For the first time in 2 weeks, there were 2 spam messages this morning.

I usually get facebook telling me that "I have more friends than I know" at least 3 times a week. I joined FB about 10 years ago. I didn't set up any profile or anything else because I decided to think more about it and then I decided I don't want to join. I tried to delete my account but, I could not remember my password and it gave me so much grief that I just left and never went back.

3. Your email provider wants you to change your password.

Interesting. You might be on to something there. Why would they want that?

4. Your mailbox is full.

I clear/delete everything every 24 hours. Including trash & spam.

5. Someone else is using your mailbox.

I logged out & then back in. It prompted me that this was a second device and asked if I give permission, I said yes. Then I checked my account/activity details and there is only one ISP address listed as the user. It is my ISP address. I don't have any other devices.

You wouldn't happen to have a gmail account, would you?

I have to take your word for this, oh wise one, because I don't know what you are talking about. Luckily, I do trust you. :)

I received an email from Nivek this morning. So, it looks like I am only having trouble with notifications for topic/thread watches and responses. I have Ticked the box asking for email notification, still haven't received any. Not from here or any other forum that I am a member.

I sent that email to see if it went through, glad it's working, maybe the notifications are going to spam?...I checked your settings here and you should be receiving them but if you're not getting them from other forums then it's probably not an issue with this site sending...

Hi & thank you for sending it. Did you receive my response?

No, it isn't a site issue. It is definitely an email issue.

I usually receive anywhere from 15 to 50 email notifications per day. Since Thursday, there have been 0.

Nothing is in my spam folder.

Could they decide for me what is spam? The reason I ask this is because when I opened your email there was a gray circle with a ? in it. When I clicked on it it said that gmail could not determine whether or not this was spam. It did not offer any suggestions as to whether I could approve or deny it. It didn't offer any options actually.

No actually, I never received a reply from you, that's odd...When I get home I'll check one of my Gmail accounts and see if Google has updated Gmail and reset or changed its filter settings or anything else...I haven't logged in Gmail for a few days now...

Yeah I have a couple.

Just logged in and checked.

Under details it shows my mail app logging in periodically and my browser is currently accessing it (haven't used web mail in a while). The IPs for the app and the browser are the same.

If you "show details" it identifies the browser (Chrome - I'm still on Opera which moved to a Chrome core) and correctly identifies the vendor of my mail app.

It just lists my phone as mobile (I was using the Gmail app) and gives what looks like an IPV6 address which isn't all that useful until I can tie it back to my phone, with no details.

Google sent a security email to my gmail account when I logged in on my laptop. I only use browsers in private mode so I'm always "new".

So...

The number of devices should be the number you are using.

Outlook stopped my mail (to the email client) for a while because I hadn't updated my passwords in forever. They wouldn't let me log in until I changed them.

If any question isn't covered just repeat it and/or add details.

If you are just doing it for test (or need a mailbox that disappears after you use it), Go to Slippery Email - One-click, read-only burner mailboxes

To test if you are sending emails:

1. Go to Slippery Email - One-click, read-only burner mailboxes
2. Press <hook me up>
3. Copy the email address hpzta@slipry.net or whatever it is and save it.
4. Copy the url: hpzta@slipry.net - Inbox or something similar (this is in case you close the tab by accident) and save it too.
5. Send away to the new address.

Make sure you copy or bookmark the mailbox URL and copy the email address since that is the only reference to it (and the mailbox goes away in about a week.)

I got the email from my gmail account immediately (it was there when I checked).

I guess you can use the URL hpzta@slipry.net - Inbox in the post above and the email address if you want (and are really lazy). The URL address is a really long number that got converted to a hyperlink making the example less clear than I planned.

I deleted my test email and don't have any use for it.

Just click on <check new messages> to see your messages.

I use Firefox browser. Everything looks to be in good order on my email *details* page.

I have changed my password more than once in the past year. I use the email account numerous times every day.

Why do they care about your password? It sounds a little nefarious to me. Am I being paranoid? It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you.

Lazy? More like scared. If you knew my record for major tech screw-ups....

Seriously, I'm too chicken to try it, but I do thank you do much for your help, CasualByStander . Guess that means you still like me.

You're Canadian as I recall, and I like Canadians. All the Canadians I've dealt with have been really nice and seem fairly laid back.

Don't be afraid of trying the slippery url, it can't bite (byte) you. Get comfortable with it and you will have one more tool when you have a problem.

Only use it for testing or read and toss email (I use it to avoid junk mail when I order something).

Did you ever resolve your original problem?

I never did ask if it is a smartphone or laptop problem. That bit of information would be helpful. I have an android phone and use the native gmail client instead of a browser for mail (most of the time).

I assume they are out to get me and have plan B (and usually C and D) ready.

At least one of my email addresses from 4 different providers usually work.

No, the problem still persists.

I am only using a desktop. I don't have any other devices.

And a fellow member on a different message board is not receiving her email notifications either. I left a post asking if she uses Gmail but, have not heard back yet.

Gmail Help

Check under Gmail messages are missing and Rejected messages

If you think you are having problems sending, send a message to hpzta@slipry.net and we can cross that off the list.

I can send you a test message back that should be unfilterable.

Google should have notified you if your account was blocked.

But let's make sure you can send first. When I use gmail sending is virtually instantaneous.
