An unusual May - lots of overcast and very cool - in the 60's (around 18'C) often. That's not the norm for May - I heard someone coin the phrase 'May Grey'. But now we will be be going into 'June Gloom' - when it is usually overcast and cool anyway before the heat of summer hits.

I actually have been liking the cool/overcast days with the occasional drizzle in the evenings. Great sleeping weather. We have been having sunny days but like today back to dark clouds by evening. :) Love it!

P.S. I live near the ocean so always have the ocean breezes and the sparkling air!

Yeah. Really warm. High was only expected to be 80F with thunderstorms all day but the thunderstorms havent arrived yet so it's just been getting warmer. I have a feeling these storms are going to mean business.

What about storm chasers.. Are they still about.. Some 10 years ago watched some serious show,, they had a big radar ontop of a reinforced rover.. Their goal was to be caught up inside get close to a F5 Tornado or something

Yeah. They still do their thing. What they do is really, really important. Helps us better understand how super cell thunderstorms, and tornados work. It also gives an eye on the ground so they can relay to the NWS to issue thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings.

We dont have that kind of weather here,, so its hard to understand the forces at work.. I mean the power that comes down from a tornado

As for getting caught up into an F5 tornado I would call that a suicide mission. Nothing that I know of can survive something like that. It's one of nature's most awesome, yet terrifying powers. You are talking a tornado over a mile wide with wind speeds up to 350mph. That will flatten and obliterate anything in its path.

Up in my parts we get some really good thunderstorms and microburst. But we don't usually get tornadoes. Thankfully.

Thats the one I was thinking about

The radar was on a more normal trailer towed by a truck.. they kept some distance to the rover and the storms

We have a thunderstorm about to hit us, look at this wall of rain, the winds are gusting over 40 mph right now...
