Roswell, can we finally let it go?

I never understood why Roswell was the master key to ufology, People treat the story of Roswell like the entirety of exopolitics hinges on its validity. If there is something true to the Roswell story, Then all the better. But if the Roswell incident was nothing more than a sci-fi story from a time of many sci-fi stories would it change anything?

Modern Ufology is almost moderated by these Key cases, Roswell, Beatty Hill, Travis Walton. I feel if someone really wanted to study Ufology and make any kind of progress in the field, They should let these cases go. The reason for this is simple. Too many people place too much stock into these stories, There is nothing left we can gain from them, It's a Dead horse that's been beaten silly, So silly, Even the Believers are sick of hearing them.

A Different Perspective: The Decline of Roswell
As somebody who's primarily interested in the physics of the maneuvers that I've witnessed, I enjoy the luxury of not particularly giving a damn about any single case, and Roswell is no exception. I know that these things are real, and employing a form of field propulsion that we haven't figured out how to engineer yet (not in the public sector, anyway).

But I've been intrigued by two recent and related developments about this case. First Dr. Eric Davis basically confirmed that Roswell involved a crash retrieval, and that back-engineering efforts related to that case and other retrievals, were shuttered in 1989 to give our technology time to catch up. Dr. Davis is a scientist - in fact, a damn good theoretical physicist. And scientists, especially physicists, tend to hold views based on facts which they feel are well-established. So I tend to think that he had very good reasons for confirming that Roswell involved a crash. I should also probably mention that I don't think that these devices just fall out of the sky for no reason; I think the most likely scenario - if a crash actually happened at Roswell - involved a military strike of some kind.

And even more recently, Lue Elizondo made some interesting statements at the MUFON symposium, where he referred to flatbed trucks and similar kinds of information, with regard to the Roswell incident. I gather from his statements that things like flatbed trucks being dispatched to the alleged recovery area, and possibly cargo jets and things like that, are a matter of record which he has seen.

These two men haven't come right out and said that a recovery operation happened at Roswell, but they've certainly pointed to it. So while it's still in my "grey box," I'm leaning toward an actual recovery operation. I'm also persuaded by the testimony of Jesse Marcel's son; as somebody who knows damn well what I saw at the young age of seven years old, I know that a young person can discern an extraordinary event at that age, and recall it clearly many years later. And when I look at those pics of Jesse Marcel with the weather balloon pieces, his expression strikes me as a man who's confused by what's happening, but playing along for the cameras. That's not the expression of a guy who made a silly mistake and is relieved that it's all over. I also think that it's extremely suspicious that a General, Ramey, would've gotten involved with a weather balloon story - that smacks more of a cover-up, than PR, in my view.

I realize that these views are subjective. I could be wrong. But at this point I'd be more surprised to learn that a recovery operation didn't happen at Roswell, than I would be to learn that one did happen there.

This video was supposedly legit and released by the military sometime earlier this year, I've always wondered what peoples thoughts on this were.

That's totally off-topic, but 1.) the shape of that heat signature (note the pointy bits in the middle), and 2.) the weird way that it rotates suddenly, twice...look anomalous to me. MetaBunk argues that it could be jet exhaust, but I'm not buying it; jets rotate smoothly, and this thing doesn't.

As off topic as it may be, The irony of changing topic in a thread about letting go of Roswell compels me to do so ;P

I think that Ufology needs to shift the focus from touchstone cases such as Roswell and Travis Walton, and emphasize the fact that there have been thousands of Roswells and Travis Waltons over the centuries. The Donald Menzels and Neil Tysons of proper academia and government can argue all they want to, and find plausible ordinary explanations for some cases. They cannot ascribe a historical phenomenon reported by all people in every age on planet Earth to hallucinations and hoaxes.

Yes we can let go of it....especially since new info will not be forthcoming. Without the new info its just going to keep becoming more and more of a myth.

Its getting hard to separate myth and reality as it is in this case.

I have been so sick of Roswell for some years. I won’t listen to any podcast or read anyone who refers to Roswell. It’s been seventy years now. If you haven’t solved it by now, you never will. All this subject is about is trying to sell more books or keep the people traveling to New Mexico to buy trinkets.

I think you could add the rendalshem forest incident in with this.....the story gets more embellished every time I hear it.

At this point, I think the only really new innovative thing you could do on Roswell is search for primary sources that haven't been examined yet. There may be private sources such as diaries and journals which haven't yet seen the light of day. One angle I am interested in, one for which the door is almost completely shut, is what about the many enlisted personnel and civilian workers at RAAF who were there in 1947? There have to be hundreds of them who never told their side of the story, even if it was just their recollection of what was happening on the base at the time, what the mood was like, and so on. Sadly, I would say most of them took that to the grave and the few remaining are in their 90's.

You are right, anyone still living would be in their 90s. I wouldn’t trust their memories at this late date.

What it boils down to for me is that there have to be so many more recent cases to investigate. The O’Hare airport, for instance. That case just dried up immediately. It would seem that investigators just want to take the easy way out these days.

Also, I am not buying into the “chicklet” object caught on film just yet. It seems we are waiting a long time for something more to be added. That case leaves an uneasy feeling in my gut.

So, I don’t care if anyone believes me or not, I was told by the aliens that they use what is called “gravimetric propulsion, and it is squirly, but it works.”
They can literally surf on the fabric of space... space surge pushes them.... they do not propel themselves, but create a localized wave behind the craft...

—-method two—-
They can also change ‘frequency’ (for lack of a better word) of their vessel to ‘fit into’ space time itself... causing instant jumps from one location to another. They call it a ‘hyper hop’ but they can only do it as far as sensors reach because they don’t want to land in point B in or near an asteroid, or other perils, like too close to a gravity well.

This is not fiction. It is real, and they can do it.

That’s all I know... I am not a physicist, so I do not know how it works... and my guess is it is really pretty simple because they act very casual about it.

You might need to elaborate on your “aliens.” Who are they, where are they from, what do they look like and most of all... why did they choose you to take into their confidence?

Not that I'm trying to make a stink but I just did the math, 71 years, 71 years since the famous crash and we're still debating it. You might make it even more tittilating (spl?) and claim D. B. Cooper has a hand in this and he's still living off the loot.

He could for all I know but it seems to me that the statue of limitations should have passed so he should be enjoying it in peace:laugh8:

Is there another "mystery" that you guys can think of that still leaves us mystified after 70+years?

Amelia Earhart......that's 80+ years

Very good , I had actually forgotten about that, and now that I recall there was yet another story how some mysterious radio signals were still being reported a couple weeks after she disappeared but no one really followed up on them? I believe the story went along those lines?
