Hurricane Irma

Irma is going straight up. I thought I was escaping this bitch by fleeing to KY but apparently that's where she'll finally expire...they think anyway. Imagine if Jose merged with Irma.

Hurricane force winds are being observed in Key West. She's still got a bit of open warm water before so begins her kamakazi dive into Florida. Question is will she get stronger beforehand? Hard to tell at this point.

Jose needs to start being looked at as well. Last frame of this run showed it a strong cat 3 with almost a landfall in NYC... will this hold or being it in closer? We will see. Hard to tell this far out.

Jeez. Where the hell is this storm going? It's almost like it has a mind of its own and is avoiding landfall at all costs. Regardless western seaboard of Florida is gone on this run. 12 -15 surge.

Is this hurricane already covering that part of Florida??

Down to a category 3 but don't let your guard down. Weather models are not picking this up but I fully expect it to undergo rapid intensification once it starts pulling north. I see no reawon why it wouldnt hit Florida as a very strong category 4 possibly a category 5.

Ummm... This is Jose the 19th. Smashing into NJ and NYC as a catagory 4 and giving NYC some serious storm surge and some very strong winds. Keep an eye on Jose.

I have some cousins and in laws on the Miami side near Boynton Beach and Port St Lucie....I'm betting they have left for higher ground...if there's any in Florida.

;)

The way the storm keeps trending west Miami may be spared the brunt of the storm.

That's good news. It looks like the Cuban terrain has slowed it down and partially broken up the storm. :)

Slowing it down is bad. Gives it more time to sit off the coast of Florida in that nice warm 90+ degree water. No dry air and no shear to be found there. That's why I don't understand why they aren't talking about her rapidly strengthening. It's going to happen. She's going to go boom very soon and people are going to get caught with there pants down. I still fully expect this storm to be a very strong category 4 of lower end category 5 before landfall.

I still think it's going to move due west as it is currently and go into the gulf, I have a hard time accepting it's suddenly going to turn north, Cuba is hugging it and it will ride Cuba west...That's my opinion but I don't have the detailed weather information the experts have lol...

It won't move into the gulf. The high pressure in Texas will keep that from happening just like the Bermuda high is preventing it from moving east. Think of high pressure as atmospheric mountains. Between those mountains are valleys. Hurricanes and low pressure systems like Nor'easters will always turn north because they look for the little breaks between the highs and it goes up that "atmospheric valley"
