lol... I always get a bit of a giggle from that... Yep, the version I originally heard wasn't quite as neatly phrased as how I said it that's for sure... My brother in law, youngest sister's husband, first told it to me and he knows every 'poltically incorrect' version of almost every joke I reckon... he's really good for that... But as you know, these days you gotta be extra careful how you say things publically, even jokes, unless you want your head chopped off......

Though I should have said 'Two neighbours who haven't seen each other for a while were out the front of their houses chatting' rather than what I did say, 'Two neighbours were out the front of their houses chatting'...

Still, it was quite a job being as tactful as I could so that took up my energy trying to ignore that 'voice' in my head which says, 'Why be Politically Correct if you can be Right instead'..... lol...

Maybe we can request a thread from nivek where we can.....ummmm....be Aussies and be somewhat lees than politically correct. There are so many good jokes we are not allowed to tell :)
No I am sure that would ruffle way too many feathers, few get Aussie humor.
It is a weird concept for visitors.
For all you non Aussies,
If an Aussie is taking the piss out of you (translation: making fun, making jokes about you) That is a bloody good thing because as insane as it sounds, it means you are well liked.
The time to worry if your here and being ignored, :)
We only take the piss out of people we like.
I know, it makes no sense, but it is what it is.

Hers is an example.
Many moons ago I went to my cousins wedding in Perth Australia, I was broke so I hitch hiked across the Nulabore from Victoria for 4 days and managed to get to the...wasn't a bucks party, but lets say a gathering of the clan.
I walked in the door and my older (by 20 years) cousin Danny spotted me.
I swear I had not seen Danny for at least 10 years.

His first words after a decade to me were literally.

Ray you Fat Bastard, F$%K your in a good paddock.

Believe i or not. that, here in OZ that is a really good welcome. :)

Merle, tell me I am wrong :)

Not wrong.. sounds typical to me.... and you need to take it as good as you give it too... I used to live part time in dirt road remote desert country in Opal territory west NSW near the SA border and boy was that a culture all in itself...

If you didn't fit in or were remotely a bit snobby, life is difficult out there, but if they liked you and thought you were ok, life was great, though hard because of the remoteness and lack of fascilities.... mail was flown in twice a week and it was Flying Doctor Territory. I saw people being literally chased out of town at night and if they had no money on them they were given $50 and a tank full of petrol and told to never come back again... especially more so if you did something that would attract the cops because it was a town with no cops, a law unto itself and the closest cops were well over 100ks away...

What was good fun though, was the Tourists (who only ever came in Winter because Summer is way too hot and windy and dusty for most people) who would come into the pub and ask about Aliens and UFOs and other paranormal happenings...

Remote desert country is known for it's strange happenings, however, many would make up these wild ufo abduction stories as well as make up yarns about Bunjips, Kurdaicha or Kadaitcha (Kurdaitcha man, Magic Man a ritual executioner in Aboriginal Culture, NT central Aus) pointing of the bone and shoes worn with feathers and woven hair... oh gawd... did we get some of the tourists going... and they went away none the wiser.... lol...

Hey, don't you be disparaging pointing the bone. My dad God rest his soul was a Commando in New Guinea and Borneo in WW2. He said he saw many deaths by pointing the bone. He told me stories about tribesman having the bone pointed at them. And over the next days they would say in pigeon, (pointing to their gut) Me dead up to here now., next day point to chest (me dead up to here now) next day neck (me dead up to here now). Next day dead as a maggot. Saw it with his own eyes. So take that for what it is. But I tell you this. I am never gonna piss off a witch doctor :)

One of my funniest moments was hitching somewhere, I have hitched 27000 km around OZ so its all a bit of a drunken blur so I am stuffed if I remember the pub.. lol, but sitting pissed in this pub, all I remember was behind the bar was a door cut in half with a mini bar, top and bottom door for the....ummmm locals.
I remember names of visitors names in texta and pen all over the walls and roof, Fred from Norway, Bill from Iceland etc, whole pub was covered. Anyway this day I was sitting there, and bugger me dead I swear on dads grave a bloody Emu walked up to the half door...(ummmm indigenous area) it stood there quietly. I shit you not. the bar tender kept talking. he didn't look twice, he poured a half glass of beer and put it on the ledge. The Emu drank it and walked off. Not a word was said about it. That is the honest truth. Strangest thing I ever saw. Wish I could remember the pub, all I remember is the locals, me very pissed, and a half door behind the bar, and a room full of visitor comments on the walls and roof.

I have some great news, I stuffed it to a jerk of a club pro yesterday. Two down and two to play he stiffed it to within two feet, he said while it was in the air "it's right at it, when It pitched he then shouted while looking at me " RIGHT FUCKING AT IT !". He could only dormy the match anyhow but I stuck one in to a foot and said not a word, just walked on. Golden moment right there and is worth more than he had to cough up.

Garrison Brothers distillery just boxed up 3700 bottles of its Cowboy Bourbon. For those that know what that is... You will consider that really good news!

If you don't... Well, keep that to yourself...

I mean, If I stop watching the news, I become uninformed, Yet if I do watch the new, I can never be happy because of all the sadness and depression :(

I keep up with the news.....just don't watch the news. I'm old fashioned....I still read the paper and I don't have to listen to trump there. There are enough clowns on TV and he fits in well with the clowns on "finding bigfoot" and "ancient aliens".....lol.

Probably why there is all this depression and anxiety in the world today being created by the media. Not much in the way of good news its just a daily troll by the news organisations trying to find worse and worse stories to put up .

That's one of the reasons I talk to people in very limited amounts. There is so much sadness and depression in the world. I know other people are depressed and sad. I have a friend right now who is deeply depressed and sad.

Have you guys ever had a friend who was very depressed, and you talk to them, But you speak to them while they are depressed and everything is all darkness and doom and gloom and such? I get depressed too, Nothing makes one's depression worse than listening to someone else's problems and pain. Sure I want to be there as a friend. But When you are already depressed, how is hurting more with someone else even better? Sometimes, one just has to lay their burdens down. That doesn't mean stop caring. But Letting go of whats bothering you. It works for me, But hell. I'm a hermit isolationist. What the hell do I know about other peoples problems? :/

Depression is a bad state to be in , not very nice at all. Once the Black Dog gets hold of you its very hard to make it let go. I been depressed , lasted 3 years, problem with me is I got used to it I treated it as a normal thing to be . It is a very dark place to be . Dumping problems on others can depress them also I found since I have kept the darkness at bay for awhile that talking to other people who are also depressed I can relate to them more easily having been there and done that sort of thing. One is never really free of it , it still lurks in your psyche , waiting and listening.

I've dealt with depression a lot, I've even tried to help a lot of people, you can't imagine, People flock to me, It's like a vibe I give off or something. Hey. That guy's got it figured out, I'll ask him, I've learned that with every person, Depression is a different thing. It's complicated and there is no right answer. What works for one person, May only ever work for that one person, And any advice a person can give to a depressed individual is probably the wrong advice.

The only thing I can do is relate to others how I deal with things. Ultimately someone can never know how much another person hurts. It seems like Depression, is like a mental plague and it can spread from person to person or manifest at random, But it's a very high functioning illness with no clear treatment that works universally well for large numbers.

The best advice one can possibly give another depressed person is, Seek professional help, Any other advice one can give is most likely nonapplicable :(

Spending time with a professional therapist helps. Pretty expensive their charges are enough to give you depression. A lot of people just suffer. Its a very complicated thing no one is the same . I never advise people I just listen most of the time sort of a sympathetic ear. I wonder sometimes don't I have enough issues without listening to others problems but you feel the rat not listening to them. Which I do , its usually friends and family with me so it reciprocates as I am the main with the problems . Or was.

I hit major depression and anxiety once... the paperwork was filed in my divorce... I couldn't recognize myself... where did all that come from?

Thing is we got along well, worked well together, pretty awesome... but truth is, I just wasnt what she wanted... I never lived up to her ideals... I wanted her to go... I knew she wasnt happy, and I was tired of failing to live up to her imaginary perfect man. The depression made no sense.... and I had terrible headaches... I went to the doctor, and they found a few problems... my blood pressure was way up... they fixed that... then they put me on a powerful medication six months prescription that numbed my emotions down to less than 10%.

I could function again, but I still wasnt myself... after six months, I took a taper packet, and stopped everything but the blood pressure meds after that... met someone else, at a time when I just KNEW I would never be married again.., so we stayed friends, didnt date, but would meet at the theater or for ice cream.... until one day it just made sense that we should get married...

Well, that was several years ago, and I never really had to deal with that strangeness again... but I will never forget what it was like to be looking in the mirror, thinking "That isnt ME!"

I am pretty sure, the doctors saved my life.

People often think I'm cold because I'm not that sympathetic ear for others. it's not that. It really isn't. It's hard for me to maintain myself as sympathetic sometimes when I hear my friend tell me how much he hurts because some woman dumped him Because I'm too busy thinking Damn, I had my only daughter pass away. And here I have to sit and listen to that. I Never say that. But there is this feeling, Like my own pain is being patronized when I hear people complain. I know my mind is weird. But I'm just being honest. I've literally survived hell on earth, It's really difficult to listen to people complain about pains they have that aren't even in the same zip code or time zone as what I've survived. I don't know, I don't mean to sound cold, I'm just being honest about how my brain works I guess.

I know this doesn't make sense. But each bit of pain we survive kchoo, That gives us more strength, Pain is important, It is the spirit growing to overcome obstacles. With each pain, We become stronger in spirit. This is a truth that every person of spirit knows.

Personally, I don't think something inanimate like new media can cause actual depression and anxiety...

More like it depends how any individual person reacts emotionally to news articles is what causes some people to get that way in that some people take it to heart and allow news story to affect them emotionally more than others do... usually solved through avoiding reading the news...

I'm very emotional about things. When I learned Isis was harming children a couple years ago, I was enraged. It literally affected greatly.

I know when Trump is shown on the world news and he says he is going to " Totally destroy North Korea " people will not have a good reaction to that. Being where I live I don't really care what they do but people near there are going to be packing it big time.

My thing is, I originally supported Trump, But he wanted to obliterate all of NK. He didn't think of the innocent people under un's dictation. This is not a man fit to be in charge I mean, There I said it.
