I've watched the first four episodes of Mandalorian, it's very entertaining and a different pace than the Star Wars movies, I don't want one give away any spoilers, but it's time line is after the Empire fell and before the First Order formed...I'm enjoying this series thus far...

Yes, I've started following the series too. It hasn't really established a solid plot or story line after 4 episodes so. I'm starting to get hurryupitis. lol I already know what dude looks like under the helmet, otherwise I probably would have found it annoying. lol

What is the name of Yoda's species, has that ever been established?

Its listed as unknown...

The species to which the legendary Jedi Master Yoda belonged was ancient and shrouded in mystery. Members of this species were rarely seen anywhere in the galaxy.

Star Wars creator George Lucas chose to keep the name and background of Yoda's species a mystery. Both Yoda's and Yaddle's Databank entries on StarWars.com list their species as "Unknown."

I just got episode 8 of season 1 and going to watch it a little later tonight...Its the last episode of this first season...There were hints in the media that the story arc is going to expand a bit and reveal new characters to the show...I also read talk of a baby yodi movie is being considered...

The Mandalorian is the first step the franchise is taking to "Clean the swamp" With nine movies and several past series and games all steeped deep in the skywalker arc, That became the problem with the franchise. The movies weren't getting worse, in fact, they were getting better, but the story was a 40 year-long arc that all tied in, People were getting sick of it,
This New series isn't caught up in all of that, It's a fresh take on the universe and it's telling a different story, And that's what people have been craving, something to expand the star wars universe. The obi wan series will hopefully take a few notes from The Mandalorian.

Mandalorian season 2 coming Fall 2020 featuring more Original Trilogy aliens

Hot on the shiny heels of today's season 1 finale for THE MANDALORIAN, Jon Favreau has officially announced that a sophomore season of the series is coming to Disney+ in Fall 2020.

Favreau revealed that THE MANDALORAIAN would indeed be returning for another season via Twitter, where he included a photo of a near-naked Gamorrean alongside today's most-glorious confirmation!

Oh wow! Just when you thought that this week's news cycle had little to offer, along comes this exciting bit of news. I use the term "news," but c'mon, we all knew that a second season of THE MANDALORIAN was inevitable, amiright? After all, the world needs to pump more Baby Yoda into its veins, and the best way to get that fix is with more Lone Wolf and Cub-like adventures of Pedro Pascal's Mando and his little green buddy.

It goes without saying that THE MANDALORIAN has been a huge success for Disney, so I'm in no way surprised that they're moving forward with another installment of the series. What makes this news even sweeter is that more Madalorian-centric adventures means traveling to new planets, meeting strange new characters, and expanding the Star Wars Universe in ways that only an episodic offering can and will.

It certainly has been an exciting year for Star Wars fans, and with 2020 just around the corner, I've no doubt that we'll be getting word of even more promsiing projects set in galaxies far, far away.

Artist's viral drawing reveals 'rival' to Baby Yoda: 'This is the best thing ever

Baby Yoda has firmly held the No. 1 spot in our hearts for months now, but it looks like he’s finally got some competition.

That’s thanks to Leonardo Viti, a 3D designer who took his skills to Instagram in order to “babify” another beloved Star Wars character.

The result? Meet "Baby Jabba," the adorably childish version of Jabba the Hutt, the villainous crime boss first introduced in "Star Wars: A New Hope." The original Jabba is enormous, purposefully disgusting and notably evil, but his baby version is, honestly, irresistible.

Finally!! To me, the Mandalorian has a definite Star Wars feel to it, in the classic sense. The cinematography, the atmosphere, the story line, Wow! The last few Star Wars products have been disappointing to put it lightly. The latest trilogy of Star Wars films are propagandized and devoid of soul although I loved Force Awakens but this show feels more like the original trilogy to me. Absolutely excellent. I could not be more impressed. My only negative, the episodes are too short. Looking forward to Season 2. Solid 9/10

'The Mandalorian' season 2 teases a 'Game of Thrones'-like evolution for the series as it adds new characters
  • The second season of "The Mandalorian" will delve into more character stories, series creator Jon Favreau told Entertainment Weekly.
  • It will also start right where we left off at the end of season one.
  • Favreau will be directing the premiere episode of season two when it launches on Disney Plus on October 30.
The second season of the hit Disney Plus "Star Wars" series "The Mandalorian" is coming back on October 30, and thanks to Entertainment Weekly, fans now have a hint of what's to come.

In a lengthy first look piece, EW spoke to key series players who revealed the second season will become much more expansive in its storytelling and add new characters.

"As we introduce other characters, there are opportunities to follow different storylines," series creator Jon Favreau told Entertainment Weekly. "The world was really captivated by 'Game of Thrones' and how that evolved as the characters followed different storylines — that's very appealing to me as an audience member."

Though Disney hasn't confirmed it yet, stars like Rosario Dawson and Timothy Olyphant are reportedly joining this next season. With these new characters, it seems Favreau and fellow executive producer Dave Filoni are looking to expand the story beyond just what Mando is doing.

Season two will pick up immediately after the first season's finale, according to EW. Audiences last saw Mando (Pedro Pascal) and The Child (aka Baby Yoda) escape Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) while Cara Dune (Gia Carano) and Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) stay behind.

"We start very directly after the first [season] and he's going into very dangerous territory," Pascal hints in the EW story. "[Mando] is very much a passenger to the experience in unexpected ways — not knowing what's to come, not knowing how much or how best to protect The Child. We don't know how far he will go to do that, and they're finding new ways to push the envelope."

Like last season, season two will reportedly have eight episodes (all different running times) and they will all be directed by a handful of directors. Rick Famuyiwa (who directed "The Child" and "The Prisoner" episodes in season 1) is returning. Weathers will direct in addition to his acting role. Robert Rodriguez ("Alita: Battle Angle") and Favreau will also both direct, with Favreau set to direct the season two premiere.
