Saturday, May 23rd 2020, 2:05 pm - Hail as large as 5.33 inches (135.38 mm), bigger than softball-sized, dropped during a severe thunderstorm in Burkburnett, Texas, Friday.

A Texas city was hit by hail larger than softballs Friday evening, damaging cars, after severe thunderstorms ripped through the state, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman, Okla.

NWS confirmed through social media pictures that Burkburnett was hit by hail as large as 5.33 inches (135.38 mm), larger than softball-sized, which is defined as 4.25 inches (107.95 mm). The hailstones weren't far off the all-time U.S. record, which was 8 inches (203.20 mm), reported in South Dakota on July 23, 2010.

People took to social media to post images of the sizeable hailstones. Burkburnett resident, Toni Marie Scott, shared a photo of a child holding one of the large stones.

We're having unusually warm weather this week but supposed to go back to normal next week...Yesterday was 91 degrees, today 90 and full sunshine...We don't see those highs usually until mid August...Normal highs for this part of June are usually in the mid to upper 70s to very low 80s speckled about...

Pretty nice day today, 80`s most the day, finally hit 92. Have alot of cloud cover and a good breeze. But i had to be stuck inside bed n tapen all the corners in a room i drywalled a while back. Still have an outlet and a light switch to fix, and the straights to tape. With the house being more sealed and insulated the house is holden the temp in finally. gonna help cause this week if forcast 100`s all week, some with rain. dont think i`m gonna like it. swear if that northpole keeps moving as it is, Oklahoma is gonna turn into a rain forest along the equator. oh and a new waterbong.

Yeah we had nice weather today for July, the high got to 88 late in the day, party cloudy skies and a nice breeze all day...There was very high humidity today, 71% however the breeze helped balance that and it didn't feel quite that humid...

Fratty and out of touch.
We can't buy a drop of rain here. Big tropical storm formed off the coast of NC but it bypassed us and is heading for NY and NJ. It's a shame because we could use some rain.
