Greer has turned into a joke, but at least hes been out on the field in the past investigating, talking to witnesses and gathering them around. He put out Disclosure Project in 2001, one of the earliest gatherings on ex military and aviation witnesses publicly testifying about the UFO phenomena, granted there were some bad apples among them but still that was rather impressive. The way he went after that is sad though...
What has Neil done, except cracked a few jokes, made some a priori assumptions and avoided the thing? Has he even read the Blue Book or Condon Committee reports or looked into the FOIA documents? Has he interviewed a single witness? Has he researched any of the cases in full or been to the alleged landing sites gathering samples? Has he read books on the subject on both sides, not just the debunker one?
Thats why sadly, Greer i fear is more of an expert on this than Tyson, who likely hasnt even scratched the surface. I wouldnt put him on the pedestal for this either now, but if you asked them both about UFOs and their long history in a quiz, id put my money on Greer knowing more.
Hynek, Randle, Swords, Powell, Hall, Hastings. Any of these people in Ufology are certainly more of an expert on this than Tyson. Tyson is an astrophysicist, but he hasnt been on this field much if at all, so how familiar can he be with it? I think even my domestic Ufology group here in Finland is more knowledgeable on this than Tyson.

That is not true.
To understand UFOs one needs to know physics. Without knowledge of electrodynamics and general relativity you can't even start understanding that UFOs are real craft.
As far as Photoshop goes, there are the way imaging experts can tell real from fake images.

Sadly it is true just look around at the number of hoaxers and fraudsters in ufology...Why do you think it has never gained traction as an actual science per say? Thats because its not....Thats why anyone can claim to be an expert in ufology, cryptozoology or any other pseudoscience because there is nothing to which to hold them accountable.
