He agrees - and in fact he believes that he should've been given the death penalty.

I tend to oppose the idea of the State taking human life, but in this case a compelling argument could be made that execution for a murder committed for the sole purpose of "self-glory" would be an effective deterrent against future murders motivated by such a monstrous disregard for the sanctity of human life and the pursuit of personal fame through homicide.

In any case I think that anyone who proves himself to be a lethal homicidal maniac should never again be free to walk free among our society. But sadly, most of the time these monsters are eventually set free, while harmless and nonviolent offenders like pot smokers serve time behind bars. Our justice system has barely advanced since the Salem witch trials.
