I went into a Spock-Sherlock-Data quote and tripped over my own fingers trying to sort it out.
This was pre-Communion so the creatures reported weren't little grey aliens. In fact the imagery kind of haunted me when I saw it as a kid. As far as I know the description is a standalone and is unique. Don't recall any other case with these scary bastards in it.
Then there's actual contemporary evidence and that secret recording the police made. If we can sit and listen to Colonel Halt's tape over and over again so we can be assured of his sincerity then that applies here. I've listened to it and these guys were
twisted. Something definitely happened and they didn't have a security team surrounding them.
Then talk about the two men. They weren't buddies just acquaintances, in fact I think Charlie was Calvin's supervisor and the 19 year old kid was literally brand new to the job. Charlie was 42 at the time. You look at the PGF and could make a better case for those two men 'cooking something up' - which I am only using as an example and don't believe to be the case - because of their long association. Less likely with these two - age difference, no real relationship. Looks like they really just wanted to go fishing.
I work with young people in that age range regularly. Some good kids in the mix, gives me hope that not every one of them is as screwed up as I might think. But even of the most mature of the lot I couldn't imagine cooking something like this up and then having the kid actually stay quiet about it, or stick to a story or any of that. For decades. Could happen I suppose, just seems unlikely. But not impossible, Sherlock. I know that Charlie went on to talk about the case and hump the thing. As far as I know Calvin's been quiet until recently and his motivations now are right up front. Point for Calvin.
This one just doesn't fit the mold. As to where they come from, who the hell knows. A bit of a cliché but as I sit here I am awash in EM radiation containing coherent structure and data to which I am oblivious. Specific things have to happen in order for me to become aware of it's existence and a 'larger reality' if you will. They could be 'right here' in some fashion and we only become aware of them under specific circumstances. It's fun to take some of the Skinwalker observations about parallel realities and military programs maybe originating in other realities and plug them into other cases, scenarios etc. But this is where I caution against making a big quilt out of bits and pieces and sewing them together with a lot of wishful thinking.
Example - maybe the Ranch's flying refrigerator really is part of a Navy program as suggested, just not one from our Earth. That's whey they're so interested in our ships. Jesus, I made a public comment about that. It'll probably pop up as a reality for someone somewhere.
The chances are greater than not that if we had additional data, maybe from the Coast Guard or some of the other eyewitnesses that Calvin has said were in the area the case might look as good or might just come apart. Until then I'll keep this one in the WTF file with Father Gill and the Ariel School.
