How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

All my immediate family got together today maskless for Easter, except me, they all said they were fully vaccinated however since I'm not vaccinated yet I couldn't be there...Well turns out they aren't all fully vaccinated, half of them only got the first shot just recently...So I'm glad actually I wasn't there because it sounds like to me they are playing Russian roulette and got together way too soon...I hope none of them brought Covid with them to that get together and spread it to everyone, time will tell...

Between 25 and 30 employees out of 135 where I work are out with covid or isolated because of it.

Ooops, maybe leave the masks on. Some of the people hit now were the worst offenders about that.

That kind of brings up my point from the other day, if someone thinks they had Covid-19 before but its not confirmed, then that person may take unnecessary risk like not wearing a mask and actually get a big dose of Covid-19 which could become a hospital visit or worse...

I was in town this morning and so many people were in the grocery store and in Lowes Home Improvement without a mask on, unbelievable...

We still have mask rules so I haven't seen many people without a mask in public except a few of the homeless (even most of the homeless are wearing masks). It may be different in southern New Mexico where the sheriff of one county held a protest against the masks and most people weren't wearing them anyway, and of course from about october after the protest until January they had over 40% per capita tested positive where the rest of the state, even the reservation, which was hit hard had less than 20% and some northern couties less than 10%. Now all the counties except that one are below 10%, that one is still close to 20%

We still have mask rules too, the shops and restaurants have fully opened but with social distancing and mask rules in place throughout the State...

This has me baffled. Law enforcement and politicians pipe in and tell people they don’t need to wear masks. That is all that some people need to hear. Do you hear health officials saying those kind of things? Of course not. I guess it only proves that ignorance comes in all kinds of shapes and sizes.

It also falls in line with what people want to hear, those are the ones that jump on the bandwagon first.

Yep pure ignorance in my opinion too, the town police chief in my area says he won't support nor enforce mask wearing but the county sheriff says he will...They are all government officials and should support whatever laws and mandates that the State and counties have in place...They should not be pushing their own personal opinions, when their off duty they can ignore the mask mandate all they want but on duty they should be supporting and enforcing the State and county laws and rules...

The ABC liquor store in town is extremely strict on mask wearing and using hand sanitizer...They have a big sign in front stating anyone attempting to enter the store without wearing a mask fully covering nose and mouth will be refused entry and they will call law enforcement if anyone gives them any trouble about that rule...Also after entering there's a large bottle of hand sanitizer and no one is allowed to touch any bottle of liquor without first using the hand sanitizer...

Keep in mind the ABC liquor stores in North Carolina are State run, so they will enforce whatever State laws or rules in place...

Under Covid rules in Pennsylvania, you cannot open liquor that comes in a box or tube to see the contents. That is what my wife was told when she stopped today in order to pick up a bottle of Scotch for me. You will need to buy then remove your bottle from the container outside the building to check if you have the right thing.

Our family is divided into camps, those who take the Corona seriously and those who think it's a joke. Arguing, door slamming and anxiety. Many people are having a worse Corona than me. I was already unemployed so it didn't change much for me and still unemployed. Sigh.

I've grown used to the damned mask and don't find it to be anything other than an inconvenience. The only thing it inhibits me from doing is returning to the gym - and if I really wanted to I'd go back anyway with the mask. I just don't.

Mostly it shuts people up. I do remember one particular press conference about a year ago when the DT, Fauci and I think Birx all stood there and said a facial covering, a mask, a scarf was adequate. Put something on your face and the requirements weren't too stringent. Before long we were reading about the virus flying thirty feet across a room, we were hosing everything down with disinfectant. To paraphrase Nathan Bedford Forrest, you gotta keep up the skeer

I really do think that it requires more prolonged close range contact in a more confined space, that masks of any kind are probably OK. I wash my hands a lot anyway but some people have to be told, repeatedly (and many still not get it). It's real - it's killed enough people. No idea how anyone can dismiss that fact. I do take it seriously, I've just had enough time to look at it and actually get it to form an opinion. The best movie monsters are the ones you never get a good look at, your imagination fills in the rest. The Fear went away after I got a good look at it, to be replaced by Caution. Time to get back to my life already, such as it is.

My friend just tested positive for covid and he's elated ! So are my wife and I ! This is a wonderful development that we were literally jumping for joy over last night! Really !

Odd situation. He's where my wife and I got it to begin with and he's totally asymptomatic. February 1 is probably the date he got it initially, or close enough and you can test positive without being contagious for several weeks or even months afterward, so say a number of doctors we've dealt with. Very long story but he has a number of grave medical issues and has been a local hospital for three weeks now receiving treatment. He continued to test positive until one day he wasn't. After several days of testing negative the bean counters said 'out with you' and were about to send him to a place that is, not to put too fine a point on it, a complete s******e. He'd pay a small fortune in transport to go back and forth to the same hospital to finish his last round of treatment. They literally had his bags packed and he was scheduled to ship out this morning.

But not now! He's not sick, he's already in the covid ward and we are holding our breath that he'll get at least another ten days right where he is as a result of this latest test. He's still gravely ill, terminally so in fact. But if he can stay right there and continue to be a gigantic pain in the ass to the staff I am very relieved to hear it!

Still no Johnson & Johnson vaccines available in my area but I did find out last night that tomorrow there are 500 doses of Johnson & Johnson that are going to be administered first come first serve beginning at 8am...The thing is, that county is over 3 hours away from me, so my plan tomorrow is getting up very early and driving all the way there so I can get there 2 hours early at 6am before they start at 8am to ensure I get a shot...I'll be spending over 6 hours driving time tomorrow if I go, so I want to be sure I get vaccinated by arriving early since they only have 500 doses available tomorrow...

I'm sorry you are having trouble. I hope you can find employment soon, I have experienced that and it is really hard.

Oh my. It is like that in Texas you find out where the vaccines are and stand in line. Here we don't get that choice, but my daughter said that I could drive to Amarillo and get vaccinated if I want. It is a 4 hour drive but apparently many people from surrounding states are doing that, driving to Amarillo. The news crew went and showed cars from all over the country. My friends in Texas have the choice to go to any county in Texas they want so they troll the internet for the day and place that the vaccine they want will be available and just get in line. Even so, New Mexico has vaccinated more people per capita than almost any other state. But the WHO is upset because the areas where they feel have the most vulnerable are not getting vaccinated. (at least that is what the newspaper had on the front page Sunday)

Actually I got a call from my doctor about 20 minutes ago, he said they have 200 doses of Johnson Johnson vaccines, so I set an appointment for Friday afternoon to get it from him...My doctor is about a 20 minute drive, so much better and I have an appointment too, so I'm guaranteed the vaccine on Friday...

For the past 20 minutes or so (about 4 hours after receiving the J&J the shot) I've started feeling a slight bit of cramping in the arm that I got the shot, both upper and lower parts of my arm...Meh, took a couple Advil...
