That new lumber is for foundation/floor reinforcement, putting that lumber under a building I use for my lawn equipment and storage...Currently its sitting on blocks but my weight distribution doesn't conform to the support pattern of the existing blocks and supporting lumber...So the floor has a slight crown to it, adding that extra lumber and blocking under the building will level things back off and I won't have to worry about weight distribution anymore...

Doing preparation work for this project today, and starting the main work tomorrow morning...If I have help we can maybe get it done in one day tomorrow, I have help set up if he shows up...If not it will take me close to 3 days to do it by myself...

I hate it when you call and leave a message with 9... yes 9 contractors and NONE return your call.
I was looking to get my roof replaced.
The 10th and 14th call actually got a response!

I was about to say that I hate it when my pets screw with my desk and PC. One of our cats wanted attention and was just doing the cat thing dancing all over my desk and keyboard that he accidentally found the shortcut to increase my font slightly and wouldn't you know, it's damned helpful :)

Thanks Frank!

Had a big tree next to the house that had to come down. Interviewed 4 people. Picked the most expensive because he was offering climbers and honestly the location demanded it. Bringing heavy trucks in that area in early Spring would totally destroy my front and side yards. I already had a big truck get stuck there once and it was a dry day.

These guys have to schedule around the weather, which is understandable. After the contract was signed and insurance papers provided he showed up two days early with trucks. Had I not been home he would have done exactly what I did not want him to do. By chance I was home and I sent them away and they were pissed, he wasn't there. Don't care to hear his crew bitch and whine. A couple of days later they came and did the work as requested and did a fine job but the owner showed up and never knows when to keep his mouth shut. Jabbers endlessly. He really thought he could glad hand or schmooze me and just dump topsoil and seed and fix my front lawn. Nope. I am not gratuitously rude but consider myself a master at confrontation and let's say that his approach was not productive for either of us.

This is why I have always said - and I said it to him plenty- 'all you had to do was what you said you would do and there would be no problem' . Also told him it's his name on the trucks and the shirts the men are wearing and it's on the goddamned check he was expecting me to write too and therefore despite all the bullshit excuses he tried to shovel he was responsible. Didn't care for that much and stalked off but came back later and told me I was right and blah blah blah. Thing is, they do great work it's just typically the contractor's a complete a*****e.

I have the same problem. I did get a good roofer, probably by chance, from the home advisor website, however the contractor was shiiiit. So I don't trust home advisor any more. And usually those websites, angies list etc all will give you 3 contacts and if your lucky one will call you.

The help showed up and we went to work on this project by 8am, its 4:30 now and about half way done, so my help is coming back tomorrow to help finish...I'm worn out, took a lot longer than expected to get the building raised high enough to get all the new lumber under it...We have half of the new lumber I purchased under the building and set in place...I think tonight after I rest a bit I'm going back out and set some blocks in place where the rest of the lumber is going to sit so we don't have to worry about that tomorrow morning....We're starting at 6am tomorrow...

That BS. If I were 12 hours closer I'd help you bang that thing out in a jiffy. Just hand me a cold beer at some point.

ATMs...The cash points ATM used to be free, no service charges, but that changed a couple months ago...Anyway today I go to the local cash points and it tells me I've withdrawn my limit for today, WTF, I haven't used that card in three days...So I check my account, what's there is supposed to be there, so I go to another ATM and no problem withdrawing money...So maybe the first ATM is stopped at was trying to tell me it didn't have any money left lol....

Depends on the bank and the card I guess, one debit card I have I can withdrawal up to 900 a day and another one I have from a different bank has a 400 dollar limit...

I really hate it when an app refuses to let me do what I need to do without first updating that app...

Was out getting gasoline this morning, I use Shell gasoline with their fuel rewards card and when I pulled in to the fuel pumps and pulled up the app it refused to let me use the fuel rewards I had collected until I updated the app...FU fuel rewards I can't stand it when an app does that and especially now I'm out in town and I am not going to sit there and screw around updating apps when I have things to do...I pulled out of that place and went to Sheetz and got their gasoline...Got back home and deleted the Shell fuel rewards app, will not use their gasoline again...

No I don't allow my phone to auto-update anything, none of my devices are allowed to auto-update, neither are my email accounts are allowed to sync to my phone or tablet, I turn all of that off...

Man, that's dumb. Many phone apps just blow my mind at how bad they are. Sirius has had terrible apps for years. I thought when they bought Pandora, it would get better. I didn't like the Pandora app either, but at least it usually worked. Well, now it seems both have been averaged so they work most of the time, but about as well as a broken shovel. I had an Amazon app on my phone one time, for about ten minutes. It seemed to be designed to produce maximum irritation with minimal benefit. I know good ones can be made. I have several well behaved ones on my phone, even a few with ads that aren't obnoxious. Chargepoint, for electric car charging stations, works great, provides useful information in real time, and doesn't do anything stupid. It will even tell you about competing stations, and how to get hooked up.

I gave up on ATMs entirely several years ago and have never had a debit card. I use a single credit card for everything and it earns me rewards points applied to my Amazon account. I clear it each month and they still send me points for conditions I'm not totally clear on. You go to check out of Amazon and there's usually $10-20 dollars there I can apply.

I have no desire to pay for anything by waving my phone around. Usually keep some cash on me in case the card doesn't work.
