My niece is doing okay, she has mild symptoms we've finally heard, she's staying isolated at home until this illness passes...

Her mom said she had a negative test result today and she's feeling great again...

I had my second shot yesterday, now I'm feeling very feverish with a headache. Thermometer shows almost 38 c. No throat pain or mucus though.

Hope you feel better soon, get some rest this weekend...

You know what? I have never wanted to become a octogenarian because I have no family or friends that can/could look in on me or take care of me at that age, so I will end up in a government run home for the elderly. Canada is full of recorded abuses in these type of places. From robbery to rape and beyond. I've read most of them over the past 30 years and nothing has been done to change/correct these abuses from continuing happen. I refuse to end up in one of those places even if it means ending my own life. I also have no plans for travel for the rest of my life, so I don't need a passport.

I will need to eat and that means shop and go places like dental and optical before that time. Call me silly if you will, but the only thing that actually scares me is the conspiracy theory about there being some type of behavioral inhibitor in the vaccine formula. That and the fact that I don't like needles, so I don't relish the thought of volunteering to getting 2 of them. Then there are the side effects, not something anyone looks forward to. So, I am going to wait and see if it becomes difficult to exist without it, but...

I have changed my mind and I am going to get vaccinated.

morning. lightning and thunderstorms today. the rain is much needed. and so, felt fine after after my two pfizer shots. been away a month visiting our daughter and grandkids who now reside on the east coast. it's a 17 hour drive through ontario, quebec, new brunswick to nova scotia. top side along the norththumberland strait. before heading out on this trip we had to let nova scotia know on what day we were arriving and present at the border crossing proof that we have received our two covid vaccine shots. once checked off the list we were free to enjoy our time in the province. and what a time it was.

Good move.

You'll be fine. I had no side effects at all. Slightly sore arm at the injection point (happens with all injections) next day nothing.
I used to be a regular blood doner, so I don't mind needles.

As for the age thing. Who wants to ? I'm 77.

My aim is to just carry on doing the things I do and hopefully simply drop dead some day from a massive heart attack. No warning. Hope I'm not driving at the time.

There is likely nothing in the vaccine that will change your behaviour. Covid certainly would.

The shadow

The shadow knows!
It was strange being in the football stadium with most masked and whole rows blocked off.
Debbie did not wear one for her cheerleading nor did any player.
Proof of getting the shot manitory
Papers please..

Did you have to show papers even if you were wearing a mask?

I don't know how to break down quotes so I just bolded the parts I wanted to respond to and the responses will go from what is bolded first to last in your post.

I have a Masor so I won't have any soreness once I get home. :)

I have gotten better about needles. One time about 10 years ago I had to hold the needle in place in my arm whilst the absent minded nurse went and grabbed a tube to hold the blood she was pulling from me. I was really proud of myself for that. :D

I don't and you may not have a choice if you develop something akin to Alzheimer or dementia unless you have someone to help take care of you or at the very least check in on you to make sure you are not being abused.

My sister and her daughter recovered from Covid and both have had negative test results the last 2 weeks. My neice has to get tested every week because she works for the government as a dairy inspector. They were still testing positive for 3 weeks after they felt better. My brother-in-law was hospitalized for a week because of covid. They sent him home with oxygen and he did recover, but 2 weeks after he stopped the oxygen he had a heart issue and was back in the hospital. His heart was on a constant rev and the doctors had to put him under and shock his heart. It turns out covid caused him to have blood clots in his lungs that caused his heart to malfunction. He is home now and doing better but not quite himself yet.

My brother has lymphoma and is getting chemo. I think he is being careful, and I don't know if he got vaccinated or whether he can because for some cancer treatments any vaccine is dangerous. This is his second time to get chemo. He is going to the Mayo clinic in Scottsdale the end of the month for stem cell therapy. Arizona is not a safe place as far as the virus goes.

I don't mind it but it's getting to a point you have to show it everywhere

I know what you're saying. It is illogical to me and against civil rights to be enforcing this because even with the vaccine people can and will pass on the virus to others. I am having this same conversation on Forteana right now actually. There is not enough evidence out there to say that children will not become seriously ill or even die if they contract the variant and yet people are allowed to socialize and be around groups of children.

Does no one else believe this is some kind of pathetic joke to get money flowing back into our precious economy? If it is so dangerous out there that we have to show papers to prove we are co-operating then why are we still out there? Has anyone noticed that the relaxation of the covid regulations coincided with Tourism? That the places where lock down is again being reinforced is at the end of their tourist season?

How convenient that TPTB at whatever level applies, be it municipal, provincial/state or federal level were bleeding money and needed some kind of boost in a hurry, so suddenly it was okay to go to restaurants and bars and buy new cars and houses and get the vacation of your dreams started or your retirement plans back on track? Right when people had stopped spending money because they were afraid none would be coming back in?

Alternately, maybe it's just me and my life has been severely affected by the coronavirus. xxxx2

Chemo really reeks havoc on ones immune system so I doubt he was able to get vaccinated.

I'm really sorry to hear about your brother, JaHaRa. Please accept my sincerest regrets and I will keep you in my thoughts for goods things to start coming your way. You seem to have had a lot of negative things happening to family and friends from this pandemic. Certainly more than your fair share. I'm very sorry this keeps happening to you and yours. :sorry2:

Michael,

..Alternately, maybe it's just me and my life has been severely affected by the coronavirus..

Both yes and no.

A lot of people have been severely effected. So you are not alone; though it may feel that way at times.

I don't think people are trying to make money out of this. But point is reached where the economy gets into serious trouble and can't recover. That means that thousands will be out of work and can't support themselves. The machine will stop.

So, when there has been time for the vast majority to get inoculated, things have to start reopening. There will be a residue of people who wont get the jabs, that is their problem. And there will be some who can't get it. They will have to be careful.
But I disagree with all this 'my rights' stuff.
I have been fully inoculated. I can still catch the virus and pass it on. But it won't kill me. Anyone who catches it from me and hasn't been jabbed can die.
It is an inconvenience wearing a mask in shops or on transport. But that's all it is. And should I sneeze, even caused by ,say, dust, I wont be spraying viri all over the place.
It's all about protecting others from me.

We in the UK are still having an average of over 100 people per day dying. And we have over 80% inoculated.
Anything we can do to keep people out of hospital has to be a good thing.

It's everyone's moral duty to protect others where one can.
