episode 6 of as the heart turns!
Dear Bob Watson,
I've recovered fully from the heart stent procedure that occurred last month. But my heart issues are getting more complicated.
Later this month, a cardiologist will perform an Ablation on me, a procedure that uses small burns on the heart to help break up the electrical signals that cause irregular heartbeats. I recently had a heart rhythm test, in which a device was placed on my upper left chest to monitor heartbeat on an ongoing basis. The doctor says that the medication he administered, Sotalol, had no effect, so the Ablation procedure is required to restore my heart to relatively normal functionality.
The way it is performed, inserting a catheter through the groin, is said to be minimally invasive and low risk. That doesn’t make me feel any more comfortable about it.
The procedure to install a stent in my left leg is still going to happen in a few weeks, but the Ablation is supposedly more important right now.
Meanwhile, Barbara is having her own health issues, the worst of which is to save her eyesight. She recently had a corneal transplant on her right eye, and she’ll undergo a transplant on her left eye this Thursday. These procedures aren’t always permanent; both eyes were previously done in 2009.
Months after having cataract surgery on both eyes earlier this year, my eyesight is close to normal, and I don’t even need reading glasses anymore. It’s the first time since I was 10 years old that I don’t require correction, and I was happy to toss out my eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Despite the health concerns, I am continuing my regular work schedule with only minor interruptions to manage the medical needs.
The recent server upgrade, higher rent, medical copays, plus all the other price increases of recent months have really drained cash. I’m sure most of you are feeling it.
But if you able to provide a little financial help, as always I appreciate your donations, whatever you can send. And I know it’s not easy.
Here’s how to send a payment:
