Honestly, I think all the non-medical consequences of covid have hurt us way more than the disease itself ever did. What's amazing, but not surprising, is how the disease and especially the vaccines have been weaponized by the usual warring parties. Pro-mask vs. anti-mask, pro-quarantine vs. anti-quarantine, and especially pro-vaccine vs. anti-vaccine. My best friend's wife, a wonderful woman who I love very much, is now fully onboard the mandatory vaccines = new world order/microchipping people/Beast of Revelation bandwagon. Yesterday, she was making FB posts in coded language (to bypass FB censors) suggesting as much.
I could try to gently explain to her how people have been weaponizing the Book of Revelation against scary things for the last ~1900 years (often simultaneously by opposing parties), but I'm just too tired to do it anymore. The historical records are on the 'net and in books for anyone who cares to look. Fear is one hell of an effective way to control people, and we see just how sharply some folks have honed it.
I think everyone should make their own choices on these issues and be respectful towards folks who choose differently, but that would require calm, reflective thinking and adult behavior. So, fuhgeddaboutit.

Wow RickHunter, I really wish more would understand the way you do. To be honest my refusal has very little to do with the Book of Revelation, I can see how people would think that way and I have pointed out that fact to others when discussing previous situations in history.
What I don't understand and never will, is the way we treat each other. We have been lied to, cheated on, stolen from, and short sheeted by government since recorded history began and yet the majority of people still chose to believe that they (government) have our best interest at heart.

I think it should, don't you? I wonder if there is a way to tell the difference in the variants by testing alone. I know you can probably go by symptoms but, I wonder if you can get the variant by testing. I think people wouldn't worry as much if they were told it was the milder Omicron variant as opposed to the deadlier Delta. If it were me and I was diagnosed with Delta, I would go looking for someone infected with Omicron. lol

Omicron was discovered in Botswana Africa by Dr Sikhulile Moyo. Instead of praising Dr. Moyo, as soon as they shared their findings with the world, a travel ban was ordered for all of Africa. Sounds more like a punishment to me.

Yes, people should gather the facts and decide for themselves on the question of vaccinations. I got the first two shots
after deciding that it was a calculated risk worth taking. My employer would give you up to 14 sick days if you got at least one shot and later got the disease. I did end up getting it, and it was nice to have that cushion. Also, I was going on a very expensive vacation with my mom that had been planned for more than a year, and catching covid could really throw a wrench into those plans. I know other people who decided not to get the vaccine, and that is perfectly fine too. Your health should be your own business, and we should all extend that respect to each other.
