Very sad to hear, Thomas Morrison has passed away this month in his sleep of a heart attack...His sister posted this on Facebook...

...

"My little brother, Thomas Randolph Morrison (Randy as we called him) has passed away suddenly, apparently of a heart attack in his sleep. He was one of a kind. Creative, fiercely loyal and loving, opinionated about everything, and so excited about his upcoming Pygmalion and Hermes parades. He was the designer and sculptor for both. His sculptures are in a half dozen parades in New Orleans floats every year. They recycle them because they are that good. He loved New Orleans and influenced Mardi Gras for two decades, taking the floats to a new level of artistry. Can't believe he is gone."

I'm really saddened to hear this news. He was well liked and very generous about sharing his knowledge and life experiences with us. I hadn't communicated with him for awhile but he will be missed.

Thank you, Thomas, for your contribution to this membership.

RIP

I will admit to thinking about this. Had nothing but conflict with the man but he certainly did his own thing the way he wanted to like most of us don’t. Again, such a young guy and such a shame

Thomas was an respected and valued member here. I always valued his opinion even when I did not agree with it. He was a fighter holding fast to his beliefs. He was a gifted artist and a good guy. He will be missed.

One had to understand Thomases mindset, He was an old-school Keyboard Justice warrior. He was Never really Angry, He liked the Thrill of heatedly debating people. The thing is, In today's world, People may see that as an issue. Originally in the wild west days of the internet, everyone had to be that way. It's only in the last decade or so since twitter that everyone became softer.

These days arguing online has become a real problem, and you see a lot less of it, Mostly because the hard people became soft and the soft people now control the social environment with huge platforms like google and Twitter. Believe me, Society hasn't enlightened to the point it's at online, It was manufactured this way. IF free speech without consequence was truly a thing, The internet would look like a different place.

Edit, That's implying that free speech without consequence ever really existed at any point though..

Oh my God... So sorry to hear that. His science views were fascinating to read about and I enjoyed how he put down the debunkers of all kinds. He will be missed. RIP.

On a practical note he was just too young. Got to go get your annual checkup. I've been lax with that and a recent extremely simple physical to renew my commercial driver's license medical card revealed dangerously high blood pressure. So I've taken various steps to deal with that but being aware is half the game. I work(ed) with a man my age up until a couple of months ago who will be spending the rest of his life in a nursing home due to a blood clot. Got to go get your annual checkup.

Maybe this wouldn't have applied to Thomas but it's still sound advice.

As Above So Below
Got to go get your annual checkup.

I never have done this and never will, no matter what age, I will only see a doctor as a last resort only if necessary...Once I do see a doctor I may say, now check this and this and that while you're at it, but I don't go out of my way to schedule regular doctor visits...

Twice a DOT physical has revealed a dangerous problem I had no clue about. They call hypertension the silent killer for a reason. For me, I have to get checked. If my coworker Jonathan ever went to the doctor he wouldn't have someone spoon feeding him his breakfast right now and then changing his diaper.

Besides, we pay a small fortune for our medical coverage and the annual visit, blood work and all that is included.

I'm a frequent flyer at my doctor's office, due to being on several prescription meds. Fortunately, my doc isn't the used car salesman type who tries to sign you up for every pricey test they can think of. She just talks to me, checks my numbers, and sends in the refills.
