We didn't get as much snow as predicted but more dropped overnight than we've had in December for many years...I went out to town earlier to get propane and took this pictures...

I don't understand this, the Sun is hammering here (east of middle EU). We should be having 0°C snowing, but next tuesday it's said to be 16°C. HOW??? It's freakin' middle of December in middle Europe!!! Each year it's warmer and warmer. This is impossible. 10 years ago the weather was totally different from this.

I really must get to your neck of the woods me old Muka. We can drink a bottle of Jack Daniels, pretend we are 20 still, and you can show me all the witches and creepy shit in the Fenns.
I am guessing you didn't call yourself Fenn Star without many misspent hours exploring them.

1 1/2" of snow fell over the past few days here in our neck of the canadian country side. been both snow blowing and shovelling. good exercise for this old fart. yesterday i used my reverse shovel with three aluminum extensions to remove the snow from the roof top. set the turbines up there free to spin once again. quite the mounds around our bungalow. of course used the snowblower to blow it all away. -2F this morning. thanks to an arctic clipper moving through. several days from now the temps will rise to just around freeze and a degree or two over.

Metanoia

Do you get chilblains (?) we do down here in winter mainly on the fingers. Really painful and they don't clear up until summer.
I've never heard of that probably because I've never lived in a cold climate.
Chilblains - Symptoms and causes - Mayo Clinic
Chilblains (CHILL-blayns) are the painful inflammation of small blood vessels in your skin that occur in response to repeated exposure to cold but not freezing air. Also known as pernio, chilblains can cause itching, red patches, swelling and blistering on your hands and feet.

Chilblains usually clear up within one to three weeks, especially if the weather gets warmer. You may have recurrences seasonally for years. Treatment involves protecting yourself from the cold and using lotions to ease the symptoms. Chilblains don't usually result in permanent injury. But the condition can lead to infection, which may cause severe damage if left untreated.

The best approach to chilblains is to avoid developing them by limiting your exposure to cold, dressing warmly and covering exposed skin.
