Mazdzer first American to medal in luge men's singles | Daily Mail Online
Chris Mazder has made history by being the first American take an Olympic medal in luge men's singles.

Mazdzer placed second in 3:10.728 in the event on Sunday at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. America won medals in the luge men's doubles in 1998 and 2002, but he is the country's first man to medal in singles.

Austria's David Gleirscher was a surprise leader in the event, finishing his four runs at the Alpensia Sliding Center in 3 minutes, 10.702 seconds for the gold, Austria's first in men's luge in 50 years.

Germany's Johannes Ludwig took third in 3:10.932.

They stood higher than anyone else atop the men's luge podium on Sunday as the reign of Germany's Felix Loch as Olympic champion came to a slippery, stunning and sudden end.

Some of the painted helmets at the games.
Skeleton riders are wearing the coolest helmets at the Olympics
Skeleton athletes are able to show off a bit of their personality with their gear, and many riders have some amazing artwork on their helmets. South Korea’s Yung Sungbin, who set the quickest time in heat 1, hurtled down the track wearing an Iron Man design (pictured above).

Here are some of the best helmets from the skeleton competition.

Winners and Losers From Week 2 of the 2018 Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics are wrapping up, and you know what that means: We’ve developed extremely strong passions for athletes we’d never heard of before and decided which random countries we now hate.

So true..

The United States is not a cross-country skiing nation. We like the sports in which athletes whoosh downhill or do neat tricks, not sports that involve working one’s body to the point of physical exhaustion in an attempt to not lose to Scandinavians.

Wut ? :laugh8: C'mon yankees

Is that the Millennials takin over ?

Sore loser! Furious Canadian women's hockey player takes off her silver medal in disgust and refuses to wear it after losing to arch rivals USA in an Olympics final shootout

A Canadian women's hockey player refused to wear her silver medal after her team lost to arch rivals USA in the Olympic finals. Jocelyne Larocque yanked the medal off her neck during the ceremony in Pyeongchang just seconds after an official gave it to her.

The 29-year-old and her teammates lost the gold to the USA on Thursday in a dramatic shootout, ending a streak of four gold medals in the last four Olympic games.

Team USA celebrated gold medal joy and ended 20 years of Olympic misery against Canada in the most anticipated clash of the Winter Games last night.
