I like the look of this one, it's 42 years old... new to me, and I know virtually nothing about it,....

Hi all just a little update on what little that i have managed to find out about that great little flying saucer picture that I stumbled on a while back,...Well I say update as I intend to keep an eye out for any more [better research] on the photo, but alas I can't really say that i'm too optimistic unless the negatives magically turn up from the unnamed American engineer [which I suppose is quite feasible even after more than 40 years...though a little unlikely I would have thought?] that there could actually be much more for someone like me [eager but low on skill] to find out... but never say never. ;)
Anyway .... This is Roughly translated from the information that originated from the Indonesian UFO site....BETA-UFO Indonesia. ...

UFO in Cilamaya offshore, West Java

Apparently an engineer named Tony Hartono took the photograph on September 22, 1975 at around 3 pm. He was an engineer that was at the time just relaxing after lunch on the dining platform area of the offshore oil drilling rig that he was working on. Which was in the Arjuna oil fields approx. 83 km from Cilamaya, Karawang, West Java.
He noticed a red oval shape above the horizon .. firstly at a distance of about 10 km... it then banked sharply away again and he described the movement of the object as being 'boomerang-like' and that it moved at high speed and he estimated the size as being equivalent to that of a full moon, and as it approached made a sound like a top with a low frequency. Photography was a hobby of his, and he often took photographs wherever he was, even at work he had his 'Olympus Camera' which he grabbed ... [and here comes one of those old chestnuts] and found that he was down to his last film and could only take the one picture,... which he duly did.
And after getting this fantastic picture .. he showed it to his friend , another engineer ... an American that he worked with, whom told him that he was going back to the states and that it would be a good idea if he took the negatives with him for professional analysis ... which he agreed to . And has never seen them since .. It is a bit unclear just why he didn't get the negatives back as one source says that he asked for the return of them from 'his friend' ..but didn't get them for some reason?, .... And another source says that he lost touch with his American friend?
Either way it was about a year later when J Allen Hynek , who was appearing as a guest on the J. Salatun TVRI studio Senayan together with Willy Karamoy in December 1976 first saw the photograph and duly took it back with him for Dr. Fred Beckmann, an expert UFO phot-analyst of from the University of Chicago to trash or verify. ... He said that in his opinion... though the photo seemed authentic that unless he had the original negatives that he couldn't be sure.
Of course that is the right response , and though the picture looks very good to me, but as the expert says without the missing negatives ... all that it can remain is... a very good looking Flying Saucer picture. [Shame!... :( ]
... However there is a slight bit of corroboration for Tony Hartono's picture and story, and that it is claimed that Dr. Ted. Telsch, a physicist from Flour Ocean co., Houston, Texas, witnessed a UFO the same shape at 18.00 [three hours later] in the same oil field. Which I find fascinatingly tantalising , but as yet I haven't been able to find anything about this 'Dr Ted Telch'.

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Of the 35 photographic cases examined by the Condon Committee, only two were judged to be "first priority" -- having potential value in establishing the existence of "flying saucers." One was the so-called Calgary case with its two photos. Dr. Hynek, who subjected the original negatives to exhaustive lab tests, called the first photo the "best Daylight Disc photograph I have personally investigated."

Calgary1967b.jpg

A daylight disk photographed by Warren Smith on 3 July 1967. Smith and two companions were in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, southwest of Calgary, Alberta, returning from a weekend prospecting trip. J. Allen Hynek and the Royal Canadian Air Force Defense Photographic Interpretation Center considered the picture genuine.

looks interesting, the object position and distance make it hard to have been something throw from the camera position

Prince George Photo - 1975

A dedicated skywatcher, Mrs. Ann Gervis of Prince George, BC, with a neighbour and children, saw two red lights approach each other on a collision course one night in March, 1975. But it turned out they were at slightly different heights and, as they continued ahead, Mrs. Gervais obtained this shot of one of them, here enlarged. The object looks ring, or U-shaped, with two domes on its rim.
