The story doesn't even make sense. What restaurant even accepts Paypal? He would have to pay in cash or by credit card. What relevance does his Paypal account have to him eating out?

- Answer is none, but that is where he gets his begging proceeds and he wants everyone to be distraught over how little there is left - which since he lies all the time is meaningless anyway.

Everything he says has these massive chasms in logic.

I have a Paypal business debit card. That's how restaurants take Paypal.

That being said, I have huge doubts as to the veracity of his story -- not because I don't think he eats out every meal, I think he does, but because I don't think he's that flat yet. This is designed to tug on heartstrings.

Also, I posted a link on Twitter regarding the pay for an Uber or Lyft driver in his area. Even if his story is true, it doesn't have to be. He is consciously making the choice for it to be.

Oh, and one more thing; this is part of the blurb about today's show: “After The Paracast: Available exclusively for Paracast+ subscribers: Gene is joined by weekly cohost J. Randall Murphy and special guest Tim Beckley as Tim remembers an indirect encounter with notorious conman Bill Knell, and how he tried to rip off a motel where the former was holding a UFO convention."

Wow. Somebody's got balls o'steel to be bitching about one con man when he's holding his hat in his hand and begging for his veggie lo mein, y'all.

Wow indeed. Since I learned all of this crap about Gene, I've thought MANY times how he must've squirmed about that Bill Knell takedown, knowing his own vulnerability to same. But, that could be an instance of me making the mistake of imagining Gene thinks like I, or anyone who knows things like guilt and shame, might. Still. Crikey.

A second, kind of paranoid thought: Talking to Troll Beckley, invoking Bill Knell, almost seems like retaliation for David Biedny speaking out again about Gene Steinberg.

I believe he is staying at an Extended Stay America in Mesa, AZ. If I am correct, it has a small kitchen in each room, and also has a daily 'grab and go' breakfast for guests. I assume the Steinbergs loot the breakfast assortment each morning; it's what I would do were I in their miserable shoes.

But meanwhile, Good Lord.

He keeps harping on the balance in his Paypal account. Does he go around somehow paying for everything out of that account? Do people do that? Just yesterday on Facebook he said the Paypal account was at $1.91; now in his email today it's at $0.82. So, he somehow spent $1.09 from his Paypal account in the last 24 hours or so?

And then he's allegedly begging for his meals from a takeout place. Still can't buy groceries and prepare food I guess? But he found a sucker somewhere.

Well, if we can believe anything he says. I assume he keeps bringing up the Paypal account as it's some kind of important center in his personal financial universe (donations, people paying for stuff related to one of his podcasts), but also focusing on that conveniently lets him not mention his actual bank accounts, and whatever cash he has squirreled away there. I have no fear that he will be booted from the motel soon; I have no fear he will go hungry. But I know he will keep trying to get something for nothing, anywhere and everywhere. And whatever crisis he claims to be facing, there's no chance we won't se a new episode of the Paracast each week.
I looked at some online photos of the Extended Stay America rooms. They look quite nice from my viewpoint. I don’t believe for a minute that Steinberg is down to mere change in his pocket. His story reeks of finding more desperate outlooks than he has already made up. Someone in the Mesa area should pop over and see how Steinberg and the missus are truly making out.

We stayed in a business extended stay type place in Dallas for two weeks back in '11 -- my husband had training. Mini-fridge, coffeemaker, & microwave. Our very first day there, we went and found a Wal-Mart & bought microwavable food & sodas. His breakfast was free, unfortunately mine was not, so I just ate whatever we had in the fridge. We did go out more than a few times -- three stand out in my mind -- but honestly, y'all, that was a really nice hotel, and it pales in comparison to what I'm seeing. (Though they did have an in-house restaurant & full breakfast buffet w/omelet service. I admit to being jealous of that.)

I found two different Extended Stay Americas in Mesa, according to Google, and I looked at the pictures.

That's a full size fridge, two electric burners, and a microwave. Now, I don't know about y'all, I'm just a middle aged woman from the South, but I can make MAGIC with a full size fridge, two electric burners, and a microwave. Especially if I'm able to drop $20 on a cheap electric skillet as well. At the very least, he should be able to whip up some pasta, or, okay, let's say he can't cook a lick. That microwave will hold a TV dinner, and I know that Wal-Mart's got the Great Value brand of Lean Cuisines for about $2 apiece. The Michelina brand of TV dinners are only about a dollar each.

I don't know about anybody else, but a hotel room like that, to me, is high cotton.

Yes, someone who knows Goggs personally wrote to me and said that the poor guy does have emotional issues, e.g., bouts of severe depression that can last a long time. Been there, done that (no more than once but I empathize with such a recurring mental ailment). Goggs may be a loner without many prospects who enjoys the thrill of being on a "famous" American podcast as a cohost with the "famous" Gene Steinberg. In our short dialogue, Goggs (in Scottland) had some serious misconceptions about the USA which I attribute to Gene's indoctrination. For example, Goggs claimed that most elderly people in the USA are just short of destitution, have no medical aid, and must scrape to get by. I responded that if a person has worked in their younger life, they will receive Social Security. They also have Medicare. LOL

Many of us have suffered from depression or other mental health issues that does not absolve Goggs of responsibility. If he is aware of Gene's history there is really no excuse. One can only surmise that it is not something that he cares about as long as he gets his place in the ever diminishing spotlight of the Paracast.

and people wonder why the ufo community isn't taken seriously.
to save ufology just ban people like beckley, who was (and probally is) a charlatan yet makes fun of them

If anyone has mentioned this lately, I haven't seen it. Years ago, for a period of about a year it seems, Gene had control of the UFO Hall of Shame website. Schuyler was updating it, which it needed. Suddenly the site went back to Royce, the founder, and not much else happened to it. I don't think Schuyler was around very long after that. I'm sure there are a few people here who can enlighten me, and correct the inevitable errors in the above.

But isn't that ironic? All the time Gene was helping to revive that site, he was doing things that should have landed him on there with his own page!

Over the years I've been sentenced to a number of Extended Stay type hotels. There are worse places to be stuck and they ain't cheap. None of that adds up.

Pass through Grand Central Terminal enough, use the subways and commuter trains and you'll see begging raised to a fine art. The guy that just needs an extra buck to make it to White Plains is my personal favorite - very polite dude. Now it's $3. Cost of living and all that. If you can tolerate it at bad breath range then online whining doesn't even rate.

Would I be out of line if I asked what did it say? Was it a message from David, I assume?

I didn't see it before it was gone...
