It occurs to me it might be possible to get a copy of that police report? I wonder how. Surely it is a thing of beauty, and full of the unvarnished truth as only Gene Steinberg could tell it.

from trail.
I looked into getting the police report.
it is $5.00 I honestly not want to send any money looking for a police report that may or may not be there..

I'm tempted. What's the process to get it?

At a glance without a report number it looks dicey. Of course I'm sure Gene would be happy to supply that if I asked him for it.

I'm 100% certain there is no report. Schemey is supremely lazy and I doubt even he is stupid enough to try to make a police report over someone sending another person flowers. I would also wager that he wants as little attention from the police as possible so voluntarily making himself known to them given that he is a never ending grifter would be stupid even for someone of his limited intellect. It is just another piece of bullshit issued forth from his mouth anus.

You are absolutely correct - Gene must be a horrible poker player, his bluffs are childishly pathetic. He's never filed a police report in his life, and most especially about anything related to the Paracast or his online shenanigans. As far as his accounts being "hacked" by outside sources in the past, also nonsense - Barbara gave away their personal information to bogus scamming sites, due to her being perpetually out to lunch, the hacking bullshit has always been nothing more than a smokescreen, yet another lie from a compulsive liar.

I also do not believe there was a police report.
What crime was committed?
And can you imagine the response G.S. gave to a police officer who ask:
So how did her email name and phone get on the internet?

Speaking of Schemey looks like the "Tales of Uber" thing is getting fleshed out more:

The gathering storm!
Hello,

A few weeks ago, one of my Uber passengers revealed himself to be Brett Johnson, a security expert who was once one of America’s most-wanted cybercriminals. His was a fascinating story, and I invited him to appear on The Tech Night Owl LIVE to take about it. He was a guest on the January 19th episode.

Some day I might be able to write a book about all the fascinating characters I’ve met working with Lyft and Uber.

But today there are other matters to deal with.

As usual, the motel needs to be paid by 11 AM each day. It’s peak season with peak rates in the Phoenix area as snowbirds flood the area to escape winter weather.

My car needs scheduled maintenance and I have to pay for wireless service and other bills.

If you’ve helped me before, could you do so again?

If you haven’t sent a donation, please consider my situation.

I could really use some help today.

To send a donation, please login to: Send Money, Pay Online or Set Up a Merchant Account - PayPal, login and use the Send to friends and family option. Enter my email address, gene@technightowl.com, and click or tap Next to continue the transaction.

I will be 74 in September. I want to enjoy some peace in my golden years. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to write.

Thank you for reading and for your past support.

Peace,
Gene

He started playing that "I'll be 74 in September" card last month if I recall correctly. Looks like we'll be hearing about it for awhile. Wonder how long after he's 74 he'll play up that he's about to turn 75? I'll guess it happens in 2019.

Also: What's up with that subject? The gathering storm!? What? Was he planning to ham it up with the crisis acting, then forgot to do so?

I bet that never actually happened. You just decided to weave one of your guests into your Uber storyline knowing that he would probably never hear about it or refute it. The classic Steinberg ploy - tell a small lie that you will most probably get away with. If you get found out just say you misremembered because you will be 74 eventually. Also ironic that one of America's (formerly) Most Wanted talked to one of America's Least Wanted.

Some day I might be able to write a book about all the fascinating characters I’ve met working with Lyft and Uber.
I wonder when that will come out. Will it be before or after the third in the Haemorrhoids Trilogy book? I would bet it comes out after since you have no imagination and the entire book would need to be imagined. Also we all know that the third Rockoids book will never happen either since your son has decided he no longer wants to be your slave.

But today there are other matters to deal with.
What a surprise. I thought you were just telling us about your fantastic life.

As usual, the motel needs to be paid by 11 AM each day. It’s peak season with peak rates in the Phoenix area as snowbirds flood the area to escape winter weather.
You've already told us you don't pay daily. There would be no way you could keep a motel room this long if you paid daily and it would cost more. Further your argument of it being peak season makes it even more impossible for you to pay daily and keep a room - it would not be feasible for the motel to allow that. I wonder if you even attempt to analyse the logic of the garbage you write?

My car needs scheduled maintenance and I have to pay for wireless service and other bills.
What a surprise. So basically you need other people to pay all your bills. Where is the social security Gene - where is all that Uber/Lyft money going? What are you paying for?

If you’ve helped me before, could you do so again?
I've helped before and I'M NEVER EVER HELPING AGAIN YOU PIECE OF HUMAN EXCREMENT. I hope that is clear.

If you haven’t sent a donation, please consider my situation.
Yes please consider his situation as a shameless man who commits charity fraud every day. Then don't send him anything EVER.

I could really use some help today.
Yes you could. You could use help in the form of going directly to jail but sadly most law enforcement don't have the resources to deal with low level human turds like you.

I will be 74 in September. I want to enjoy some peace in my golden years. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to write.

BBEABB35-DEBB-4555-ABE7-CEBCCD0FBAC5.jpeg Can you imagine Steinberg referring to a period of his life as “the golden years”?

Also, does Murphy live in the basement of his mother’s house still? He comes across as a fifty something year old man who never left the chicken coop.

I’m curious how much he takes in from these letters. It must be working if he keeps sending them.

I'm curious, too.

I believe, but do not know and cannot prove, he's bringing in something from the mails, enough to keep him sending them. I do think there's a chance it's compulsive behavior that he is not trying to (for the sake of argument, "cannot") manage rationally.

Gene himself has said more than once in the emails that he sends so many of these emails because he gets so little in response to each one (which I know is kind of a baffling attitude but, there you go). But then - is there any reason to believe what Gene says?

On the one hand, everything about these emails represents Gene's best efforts to get the recipients to not think too much or read too deep, rather to just pity him and send money. On the other hand, Gene's not exactly a mastermind and he's said some glaringly dumb or tone deaf things in these mails from time to time ("doing my share", for example).

I will say this. Last year, I forget the months now, but he ran a Facebook fundraiser for more than a month. It was titled something like, "Utterly urgent! I need help now!" and focused somewhat on his dental issues and possibly some of his wife's medical stuff. (At the time I believed this was because Facebook explicitly allows personal fundraisers for medical expenses.) My memory, and I don't have screenshots and didn't write it down, is he cleared $600 in that fundraiser, but I don't think he made more than $700. I might be wildly off. That was happening at a time of near peak Scheme Gene attention on Twitter and the UFO Trail blog and here, too. So he still had enough sympathetic believers that he might've got a car payment out of them in about, oh let's say six weeks.

I wish I remembered the details better as it might be useful as a point of data to help guess what he brings in otherwise. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was encouraging people to just send him money and bypass the FB fundraiser too, but I don't have any clear memory of that. If anyone has the details of the FB fundraiser outcome please share them!

I think FB mostly (but not entirely) consists of a different pool of people so it is quite possible he is still drawing money from that avenue. I suspect the vast majority of the people there only look at things on a surface level - FB is designed for that it is not somewhere where anyone does any deep research. It simply does not suit their business model.

As for checking now I personally had to block him on FB because he kept sending me daily requests for money so I can't check any more.

I can no longer see the FB fundraiser; it's possible no one but Gene can now, but maybe some of his FB friends will be able to do so. If they want to check. The link is in the post I linked to above. It could just be that it's retired since it's over.

Does one have to pay for the items sold in a Shopify store? In the current Tech Night Owl scenario with the ear buds, for example - I've assumed Shopify themselves or a partner is supplying the item and the site hosting the link to the store is just getting a small cut. Which is yet another reason it's unfathomable to me anyone but Gene or a Shopify sales person could imagine he'll see meaningful income from this.

But then I also imagine Shopify has options where you do sell your own items, or items you source elsewhere online, like, I dunno, some Cafe Press type thing perhaps.

Given Gene's mad dash to not one but two Mesa area McDonald's in hopes someone known to him only as "TonyGwynnSex" (a Twitter user) would hand him a bag of cash, it's tough to see how he'd exaggerate the possibilities of a Shopify powered web store.

Weird that message is now empty - is this a new strategy from Dumb & Dumber - rather than deleting the message you just edit the contents to nothing?

Yes I'm pretty sure that GS would only be using the drop-shipping option - for (probably small) percentage
