Then there are Witchetty Grubs they reckon cooked they are sweet and taste like marshmellows.
I've had them... they're sweetish, but I wouldn't say they taste like marshmallows, more like almonds with a crisp outside skin...

Australia has a sizeable Asian population and over a year ago I was walking past an Asian fair in a Shopping Center where they were giving out free food samples of various fried insects.

I remember there were crickets but I forget what other insects and worm like looking creatures there were. I was with 2 family members who were what I called them, wussy yellow streaked males because they weren't game enough to try them so I had a point to prove and tried one of each.

Apparently, so I found out, fried insects are considered a delicacy in some parts of Asia, but all I remember is eating these tasteless little fried crunchy things, each insect not even a decent mouthful...

...... and then I spent the next half hour picking little bits of leg, wings, tentacles and other small insectoid body parts which were stuck between my teeth... lol...

Here in the US we have the same problem with deer -- their natural enemies have killed off and the population has been growing out of control. I've known some people who hunt and eat deer but I've never tried it myself.

Deer taste like deer. Lol..
Seriously, it don't taste like anything I can relate with but imo I think goat is better than deer.

I've eaten deer, ground and steaks, I don't care for it much except if I mix the ground with beef and pork...I just don't care for the flavour much but I'll eat it if I had to lol...

Thinking about it, seems to me eating kangaroo would be similar to eating a dog, and if I associate it that way I wouldn't want to try it lol...

Isn't deer meat called venison? That's what it's called here anyway... I've tried that too but found it too strong tasting and rather gamey (kangaroo meet is more like beef only milder in taste)...

No idea how kangaroo meat compares to dog meat... I've never tried dog meat though there used to be many rumours here that sometimes dog meat was served as a beef substitute in some of the many different types of Asian restaurants we have here so hey, maybe I have eaten dog meat but never knew it....

Horse meat is eaten in some European and Asian countries but I've never tried it though I've eaten goat a few times... Besides insects, I've tried frogs legs and chocolate coated ants and my brother tried rat on a stick (rat kebab) when he was in China and again in Vietnam...

Kangaroo steak is really nice.

Haven't had it in a while but I belive Aldi or Lidl sell it.

Expected it to be really tough but was really tender and tasty.

Ostrich steak is another nice one. Really sweet meat.

Aldi and Lidl just started opening stores here where I live. I'm guessing the US stores don't carry 'roo, however.

Even when I eat chicken I try to avoid the dark meat because it doesn't agree with me.
