Anomalies with Watches & Clocks

I have a La Crosse digital clock on the back patio facing north and another one in the kitchen facing west. Today the one outside was exactly one hour fast, but the other had the correct time. The thing is a pain to set manually, so I remove then reinsert the batteries and let it pick up the signal from the satellite. That only works consistently if I have it facing south.

I have a Pulsar PQ-2003 watch and for several years it would for no reason be exactly one hour slow or one hour fast. It had nothing to do with daylight savings. I recall listening to a James Rink roundtable discussion on YouTube and one of his guests said he was missing an hour from his watch then found out later he was off world for two weeks. I stopped wearing it because it was too unreliable, the battery drained every four months and the buttons stopped responding. I wear a Timex now.

I have a solar powered G Shock it never loses time. But saying that without the little book it came with it would be a cow to remember how to go between daylight saving and normal time.

I can take a watch with a dead battery, put it face up in the palm of my hand, make a fist then with my arm stretched out straight, I shake my fist three times and the watch will start running again. It only last for about three days though. That's good enough to give yourself a chance to get to the store for a new battery.

I don't know why or how it works but, it does, every time.

I would like to have a Casio Pathfinder solar powered watch with an altimeter.

My cousin has a G Shock Aqua coloured one like that much more expensive than my one and it has an altimeter as well. Its a really big bulky watch .

MIB are often fascinated by clocks, both the mechanical and electronic variety. After an MIB visit, clocks are frequently reported to cease functioning and never work again, even if nothing wrong can be found with them.

Hmm, mine stays on time no matter what. One thing I have found is that good name brand batteries are a must in any quartz watch. When it's time to change mine I'll probably just buy the tools and do it myself.

My brother in law is a soldier and he wears a homungous watch like that. There must be functions on it that he needs which civvies would never think about. Or, it just looks cool.

I've never worn a wrist watch, I prefer a pocket watch....I have two of them although I don't use them as much since I carry a cell phone but when I'm at a suit and tie event I'll carry one...It has a nice gold chain, looks good with dress pants and jacket...

I imagine cell phones have hurt watch sales. :(

There are smart watches now that look like normal wrist watches, but I think cell phones may have put a knife through pocket watches...I haven't seen someone wear a pocket watch over the last 14 years...

The last person I saw that carried a pocket watch was my grandfather. Reason being, he worked as a pipefitter and wrist watches were not very durable back in the day. He had a few wrist watches but carried them in his pocket, sometimes with a shoestring attached to make it easier to pull out. Often times I carry my wrist watch in the watch pocket of my pants when working on something where it might get beat up.

Yesterday the La Crosse clock outside was exactly one hour fast and the one in the kitchen was unaffected. I made five attempts to have it set itself automatically by pointing it in different directions, but it wouldn't pick up the signal and I ended up setting it manually. This morning it was exactly two hours fast.

Where did you go for an hour?...

That's been happening for years with the La Crosse clocks & my Pulsar. Because of what I heard in a James Rink roundtable discussion on YT years ago it's an indication something has happened.
