Is there a longer video for more context? This seems like a pretty dubious use of force to me. However, if the masked men were threatening violence to the shopkeeper before the above clip starts, that would be a different story. What is shown in the video appears to be a shopkeeper repeatedly stabbing someone for attempted shoplifting.

Yes there appears to be a longer video showing the alleged thief walk in the shop...Its in this link below...

I do not know what the laws are like in the state of Nevada, but in England I would say that the shopkeeper would likely be arraigned on charges of attempted murder or at least grievous bodily harm if he had acted similarly in this country. He claims to have been in fear of his life, but he leapt to stab the boy when the boy moved to take items from the shelves, not to attack him, and the boy appears to have been unarmed. I believe that the Supreme Court in the US has ruled previously against the use of lethal force for the mere protection of property.

Antifa protesters in Atlanta are calling for 'Night of Rage' against cops after shooting near training facility dubbed 'Cop City' left one man dead and a state trooper injured

Antifa protesters in Atlanta are calling for 'Night of Rage' against cops after fatal

Georgia State Patrol troopers swooped on the autonomous zone at the site of the future $90million Atlanta Public Safety Training Center in a 'clearing operation'. In a press conference, Georgia Bureau of Investigations director Michael Register confirmed that the shooting was in self-defense, with the protestor opening fire 'without warning' at the trooper. But activists are now calling for a 'Night of Rage' and bloodshed against the police following the shooting - threatening to enact 'reciprocal violence' against the authorities. In several posts sweeping social media, they claim that the police are 'lying' and 'refusing to release bodycam footage' of the incident. They are also angrily rejecting claims that the protestor who was killed shot at police first, and even claim that the trooper was shot in 'friendly fire'.

I think this is a few years old now, as I remember seeing it before. I think it is also in Australia.

Note by edit: The attack occurred back in 2017. The story was in the news again recently because the perpetrator had his sentence increased by six years. From first response in Twitter thread:

South Africa on the verge of 'collapse' as blackouts threaten all-out civil war

South Africa is currently on edge of a "civil war" like unrest, amid warnings that the country could be facing rolling blackouts and the possibility of a total power grid failure. As the fears of mass rioting grow, Western embassies including the US and Australia have urged their citizens to stock up on “several days worth” of food and water, advising them to be on high alert during the extended blackouts that are sweeping the country during its energy crisis. The country has been grappling with frequent six-hour-long power cuts, creating a major energy crisis that has sparked mass protests and civil unrest.

Grinning goons of Antifa: Twenty-three domestic terrorists are charged after 150-strong 'international brigade' armed with Molotov cocktails torched Atlanta's 'Cop City'

Police have charged 23 Antifa activists from as far away as France and Canada with domestic terrorism after violent riots at a police training facility in Atlanta. Atlanta Police Department released details of the suspects after officers were attacked with fireworks and Molotov cocktails at the construction site for the facility, dubbed 'Cop City' by protesters. The individuals, mostly men and women from outside of Georgia, are each charged with domestic terrorism. A statement from Atlanta PD said: 'On March 5, 2023, a group of violent agitators used the cover of a peaceful protest of the proposed Atlanta Public Safety Training Center to conduct a coordinated attack on construction equipment and police officers.

One thing is for sure, America is a crazy place.

One thing that is easy to forget is, the USA is a very large place and social and moral norms vary to an incredible degree, perhaps more than any other country in the world. I live in a pretty conservative part of the nation and often hear people gasping with surprise at what happens in New York and California. Likewise, I have heard people from those places carrying on about what happens here. Unfortunately, what usually results is that we end up proclaiming each other to be ignorant/backwards/evil/barbarians and so on. Everyone thinks that only him/herself and similar folks occupy the moral high ground and everyone else is scum.

I take it all with a grain of salt. Some places get out of control and those are the ones that make the news. We have two groups of idiots with all sorts of weird flags that like to collect on opposite corners of a busy intersection. Diametrically opposed to each other but universally polite. Same can be said for polling places.

I just hope that this mountain of bullshit collapses under it's own weight like the Cuomos.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised how quickly and, should I say easily, that policemen who killed George Floyd was convicted and even his team mates who more or less did nothing. Court's proficiency was a bit out of kilter because courts in US routinely take side of police.

And then I found this:

And that explained how heavily the whole court process was politicised. Basically minorities said "either put that policemen into a prison or we'll burn down the whole country, like we burn Minneapolis."

Essentially, US is going through a huge transition ( like the rest of the world ), where world is becoming significantly more multi-cultural and multi-racial. As far as I can see UK has gone much further down the same line, although much more peacefully.

I have gotten to the point that I have incredible distrust for anyone involved in news and/or politics, or even people who follow these topics closely. It's like, they spend so much time gazing into the evil funhouse mirror that this view becomes reality to them.

Critical thing is that people don't have time to do their own digging of info. And that average viewer's shortage of time is then blatantly abused by corporate media, through reinforcement of agendas of their sponsors via selective reporting.

I think that in the name of protecting democracy all the news sources should be obliged to report full 360 deg info, and with equal exposure. So practically weather you go to CNN or Fox you'll get the same news.
