I had to give mine a bunch of dough. But it was worth every penny of it. Plus her lawyers fees. And you know what? After that it suddenly became crystal clear to me
why the stories that I heard about a Dad who went out to buy some smokes and never
    came back made sense.

Still, I don't think Steve Goodman could have ever come up with those lines.

Rideau Canal closed after river monster reports

The Rideau Canal Skateway closed on Feb. 22 following reports of a river monster spotted below the ice.
Patrons of the skateway claimed to have seen a large, scaly monster break through the ice in the early morning, resulting in the subsequent closure....

The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register

12 March 2021 - Eoin O'Fagan caught sight of something unexplained on the webcam. He said:

"I captured some footage off the webcam at 17.08 today, 12/03/21. There was disturbance of water and a wake is also visible with a black shape is seen rising up and down, as it moves slowly across the screen and disappears under the letter h of the same word.

2 smaller black shapes appeared, close together and I caught this odd looking image on a screenshot (below).I did not see any boats, at the time of sighting. There seemed to be a lot of action on the water around the object even though it moved slowly."

Youcan see the video he took on YouTube

22 January 2021 - again Eoin O'Fagan caught sight of something unexplained on the webcam - it was very similar to the 19 January sighting. He explained:

"I just went into the webcam at 2.11 pm and immediately saw what I could make out was 2 objects splashing around in the bay about 100 feet apart. They were 2 black objects throwing up a lot of water, and from the distance were large looking in the water. Then the one on the right submerged, and then came up again. The one on the left did the same thing intermittently. They were visible for up to 3 minutes, and then there was nothing. They could have been a couple of feet out of the water and maybe a dozen feet long."

This is a still of what he saw:

4 mins after viewing the sighting he also briefly spotted a black shape a few hundred yards further up the loch from the area of interest and took a screenshot of this image. The result is shown below:

19 January 2021 - long time Nessie watcher Eoin O'Fagan caught sight of something unexplained on the webcam at 2.20pm local time. He said that it was visible for about 20 minutes but he managed to get a recording of it for 3 and a half minutes. He also explained that it was coming in and out of view for 20 minutes and watched the webcam till dark confirming that there was definitely no boat traffic in the area. This is a still of what he captured:

11 January 2021 - at 11.42am, regular webcam watcher Kalynn Wangle noticed a "V" shaped wake close to the left front side of the loch shore while watching the cam, and less than 10 seconds later, she saw something black surface for only about a second before it disappeared. She watched the footage a few times, and reported it as looking like black object is swimming out from behind the tree that cover the view of the shore.

Not sure if this is what it was supposed to be? [or if I posted it in the right section? lol] ... but this could just be a regular-sized Great White Shark hanging from the rear of the boat... and the figure of a man in the shot could be yards further back, therefore inducing a forced perspective scenario making the fish look much larger than it really is! ... not sure about the 'paperclip' mention though? what do you guys think... is it Jaws?

    Cheers.

Weird mutant rabbits walk around on two legs

An entire lineage of French rabbits has been doing handstands for nearly a century. The acrobatic bunnies are not so much performing a stunt as they are a product of stunted genetics, according to a paper published this week in PLOS Genetics.

First discovered in a domesticated rabbit living in a Parisian suburb in 1935, the recessive trait is the product of a genetic mutation that could have been hidden in the animals’ genetic code for generations, only to surface then. It’s not a superpower. The rabbit variety—the “sauteur d’Alfort,” or “the Alfort jumper”—is also more likely to develop cataracts and become blind.

“The strain has been kept since then to study ocular malformations and pathological locomotion,” said co-author Miguel Carneiro, a geneticist at the University of Porto in Portugal, in an email. “Rabbits carrying this mutation would not be able to survive long in the wild due to its deleterious effects.”

The rabbits walk on all fours when moving slowly, but in a rush, turn to the handstand method. Now, a team of geneticists have identified the root of all those problems in the breed’s DNA.

It sounds like something terrifying! Mysterious home surveillance video puzzles Cape Coral residents, Florida

Home security footage from one Cape Coral home had a neighborhood looking for answers, but when they got one it wasn’t what they expected.

Security footage from inside a lanai from a home near Mohawk Parkway and Chiquita Boulevard on March 24th features a white figure appearing to move back and forth outside the lanai. Loud screeching could also be heard multiple times on the tape.

Neighbors said the sound and white mass were caught on camera at least twice within two weeks.

Many believe the figure caught on camera could have been a bear, bobcat, alligator, or even a “ghost.” Joe and Cindy Welch said their neighbors alerted them of the issue and asked Joe to check out the aftermath following the first incident.

“He went over to see if there was any creatures, any paw prints or anything,” said Joe’s wife, Cindy. “We waited another week before the monster came back, or the night creature.” We asked Florida Fish and Wildlife if they could identify what animal the sound came from but said they couldn’t identify it.

When the owner heard the sound again Thursday around 4 a.m., he immediately called the Cape Coral Police Department. Cape PD can be seen on Joe and Cindy’s trail camera footage walking in the backyard and quickly being sprayed by the homeowner’s sprinkler system.

“They figured out it was a sprinkler,” Joe said with a chuckle.

After speaking with the homeowner, neighbors believe his sprinkler system was responsible for the alien-like sounds and for the white ”ghost” like figure outside the lanai. While many in the area agree with the police about the sound coming from sprinklers, some are still skeptical the sound isn’t coming from a nearby animal.

“That one picture looks like there are some eyes in it,” Cindy says. [NBC] I am kind of sceptical too… What is the source of this mysterious noise?

I don't know about this but around here but red foxes make noises you would have no clue where they came from, and they'll give you goose bumps.

I think the sprinkler is the most likely culprit. Those security camera microphones can really distort the sound.

Creepy’ eyeball creatures washing up on Texas beaches, experts say. What are they?

Unusual “eyeball” creatures are washing up along a Texas beach, perplexing wildlife experts, officials say. Jennifer Baltazar told KSAT she was walking along the beach near Corpus Christi when something stung her son.

“That’s when we noticed it because I went looking for what could’ve stung him,” Baltazar told the news outlet. “We were super surprised because we’ve never seen anything like that on the beach.”

Baltazar says her family thought it was a fish eyeball.

The “creepy eyeball-looking creatures” initially stumped Mustang Island State Park officials. Farther south along the barrier island, Padre Island National Seashore received reports of similar “strange” creatures washing ashore, too.

The national seashore says the creatures are a siphonophore in the Rhizophysidae family.

“Siphonophores are colonial organisms, meaning that what appears to be one creature is actually lots of little ones all with their own function!” Padre Island National Seashore posted on Facebook.

Jace Tunnell, the director of Mission Aransas Reserve at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, further identified the species as Rhizophysa eysenhardti, the San Antonio Express-News reported. They are related to Portuguese man-o-war.

“I’ve never seen these things wash up before,” Tunnell told the news outlet. “Certain times of the year these jellyfish and stuff fluctuate coming in, and we randomly find interesting things coming, and this one, in particular, kind of threw me off ... it’s an interesting find for sure.”
