Deadly Wuhan Coronavirus

Testing the vaccine on health care workers we need instead of animals we can live without is taking a huge risk, especially not knowing the long term effects...

...

If the vaccine was similar to the flu shot in its design would be one thing but this covid vaccine is created much differently and never been properly tested before, we are playing Russian roulette...Things might be fine but we just don't know...I realize the urgency and the covid deaths are piling up but we have to use some common sense and proper testing is very important...

I agree. But the results of the Phase III trials are a significant indicator of safety, which will either be confirmed or disconfirmed by the larger experimental study involving millions of essential personnel taking the vaccination long before we can have access to it, if we want it.

And sure it's possible that there are long-term side effects without any significant short-term side effects as an indicator, but that sure as heck sounds unlikely...there's never been a vaccination phenomenology with that profile before, so it doesn't seem likely that we can expect that kind of thing here.

I figure that we'll have about six months of extensive data available, by the time we're eligible. If there aren't any significant indications of serious health risks after six months, I tend to think that we'd be in the clear. Of course, anything's possible in systems as complex as human biology, but given the gravity of the situation I'll follow the data rather than let my worst imaginable fears prevent me from taking the rational course of action. Let's see what's happening in June, and then make up our minds.

The poison is in the dose. Table salt, caffeine, and nutmeg, for example, are toxic substances which can be fatal if ingested in sufficient amounts. Yet we willingly ingest these familiar substances. Just because a vaccine has minute quantities of toxic substances does not mean anything.

it's a miracle i say. why even russia has 'the sputnik' vaccine. 'warp speed' made it world widely so. here in canada we're a bit slow getting ours though.

to be honest, as some of you may have concluded, i don't really care about political matters much nor what particular religion someone decides is their 'calling' or their preferences otherwise simply because our time on earth is relatively short. i've raised two sons and a daughter into adulthood and have five fine grandchildren. i'm good. i do however tell them 'if you want to make big bucks quick, sell drugs.' goood advice methinks 'cause the proof is in the vaccinial puddin'. in other words the bottom line of any and all pharmaceutical companies.

As bad as the situation in the US is at the moment, and it is bad, it is not quite as bad as some people are saying. For example, the claim that more than 3,000 people are dying per day, is not yet true. Currently, it is only known that about 2,400 people are dying per day in the US, but this figure is delayed somewhat.

The disparity is due to the fact that people confuse the number of people announced to have died on a day as equal to the number of people who have died within the previous 24 hours, which is not the case. It takes a few days, on average, for a death to make it into the daily figures. You may have noticed that the death figures drop dramatically on weekends. This is not because the coronavirus takes a break, but because many staff involved in tallying the dead do. The backlog of deaths not recorded over this period are then recorded later in the week. The reporting is therefore five days high and two days low every week. There was also the recent Thanksgiving holiday where the reporting was down over several days.

Britain currently has 941 deaths per million from Covid-19, as against the US's 919. Our rate of new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are all trending upward, despite England having ended its second national lockdown on the 2nd of December. The number of new cases seemed to reach a minimum on the 28th of November, before the end of the lockdown, and since then have been on the way up again. It looks like people therefore started to ignore the lockdown before it was over. Our current rate of deaths is around 430 per day. Accounting for the difference in populations between the US and UK, if the same rate of death were occurring in the US as in the UK, that would be around 2,100 deaths per day--not much behind the US's current rate. And that is all we could get the figure down to after a month-long lockdown. It is now trending back upwards, and the national governments of the four nations of the United Kingdom have all agreed a suspension of measures allowing people to see their families at Christmas, i.e. they are creating a super-spreader event at Christmas, when the situation is likely already to be pretty dire.

Every american news station was covering that event this morn, well except for 'fox and friends' (they continue to wonder why Hunter Biden isn't being exposed by anyo e other than them). It was like tracking a parcel. 'The forklift is moving ahead approaching the skid. It's being lifted, hes backing up, its leaving the building'. Oye eh!

the claim that more than 3,000 people are dying per day

I was actually referring to two days last week of deaths over 3000 in the US, there were also two days last week the death count was over 2900 but under 3000 if memory serves, last week I was monitoring the totals per day on worldometer...Last week was a bad week...

I suppose that a lot of us are going to be watching this one closely. They skipped the animal trials on this vaccine (for the first time in history, as far as I know), and it's a new mRNA type of vaccine (that we've never seen before, as far as I know), and just yesterday I saw a young woman on the news who got the vaccine during the clinical trials and she had a fever of 104.9 for a few hours after the second shot, so there are plenty of reasons to be concerned about the side effects. But on the other hand many millions of people including first responders and senior citizens will be guinea pigs before most of us are eligible, so we'll be able to make an informed choice by the time we're eligible for it.

I'm glad that we'll have about six months of empirical data in hand, before I have to make up my mind on this one. I think that most of us are willing to go through a shitty day in order to get our lives back, but if this thing precipitates a bunch of creepy and/or deadly side effects then this whole vaccination program is going to blow up in our faces.

The number of deaths announced on a day is not the number of deaths that have occurred on that day, as I explained above.
