Mobile phone footage sparks Doncaster airport 'UFO' mystery

Ghost hunter Andrew Pollard found himself with an unexplained mystery on his hands – after plane spotting at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

Andrew had travelled to Doncaster to watch the aeroplanes coming in to land with his young son, taking pictures and filming them as they flew low over their heads.

After a fun evening watching the jets, they headed home and thought nothing of the pictures and footage – until he was about to delete the film, which he had accidentally recorded in slow motion.

Then he noticed a mystery object streaking across the screen – and wondered what it was.

"I must have recorded it at the wrong speed, and just before I deleted it, I saw what looked like a rod flying across. It’s really strange. Someone freeze framed it and it looked like a disc.

"I contacted the airport about it and I think they’re quite interested in it.

"I’ve not got a vast knowledge about this sort of thing, but maybe it could be a UFO? It’s really unusual.”

Andrew, from Maltby, has taken part in ghost investigation groups around Yorkshire and has used audio recordings for that sort of investigation into unexplained phenomenon, but said he was not very good with phones or video recordings.

He said he thought it was too fast to be a drone and didn’t think it was a bird.

The mystery object appears in his film around three seconds into the footage that he recorded. It appears on the right hand side of the frame, and moves quickly to the left hand side in what appears to be a straight line. By the six seconds mark, it disappears from the screen.

He filmed it on Monday August 10, at 7.55pm.

"If I’d filmed it at full speed, I don’t think I would have noticed it,” he said. “But I investigate ghosts, not UFOs. I would have been really happy if it had been a ghostly figure I’d filmed by mistake. I’d really like some feedback on what it might be.”

Doncaster Sheffield Airport has been approached for comment.
