Largest Twitter shareholder Elon Musk vows 'significant' changes as he joins its board after taking 9% stake and signals he'll take on woke status quo. So, will he let Trump back on?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has joined Twitter's board of directors a day after disclosing that he took a 9 percent stake in the social media platform, prompting its stock value to surge by nearly 30 percent. Twitter entered into an agreement with Musk on Monday that will give the billionaire a seat on its board, with the term expiring at its 2024 annual shareholders meeting, according to a Tuesday Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) report obtained by DailyMail.com. Musk, who has been highly critical of Twitter and its policies, said he is excited to 'make significant improvements to Twitter in coming months!' News of his board membership comes one day after Musk disclosed that he had purchased a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter Inc. on March 14, making him the social media platform's largest shareholder. Republican lawmakers on Monday praised Musk for protecting 'free speech' and alleged his share purchase was a warning about the social media giant's 'power.' Others urged Musk to use his power to bring former President Donald Trump back to the platform after his account was taken down last year. Musk has not spoken specifically about any Twitter rule changes he might push, however, the platform's shares rose over 7 percent in premarket trading after Tuesday's announcement.

Musk launches $41billion HOSTILE TAKEOVER bid for Twitter: Tesla CEO offers $54.20 a share and says if his offer is not accepted 'I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder. Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it'

Billionaire Elon Musk has offered to buy Twitter for $41.39 billion, a regulatory filing showed on Thursday. Musk's offer price of $54.20 per share represents a 38 percent premium to the closing price of Twitter's stock on April 1, the last trading day before the Tesla CEO's over 9 percent investment in the company was publicly announced. The outspoken Tesla CEO, known for his social media antics, told Bret Taylor, the Chairman of the Board: 'I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy. 'However, since making my investment I now realize the company will neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form. Twitter needs to be transformed as a private company. 'As a result, I am offering to buy 100 percent of Twitter for $54.20 per share in cash, a 54% premium over the day before I began investing in Twitter.

It will be interesting to see what real freedom of speech can accomplish.
Will it improve the world, or will it just be a clutter of propagandic agendas and trash talking?

Freedom of speech as freedom for everybody to threaten and offend everybody else is meaningless. Some restrictions on freedom of speech make sense.

Yes. I compare it to being in a noisy restaurant. There are people talking, music playing, clinking of plates and utensils and glasses. I can chose to block it all out, or focus on one sound and ponder it... but usually barely concious of anything but a combined droning noise.. while my wife will be singing along with the music...

In a world of noise, people will only focus on what they want to hear, or be interrupted by what makes the most attention getting sounds. Either way.. to me , its ultimately just a bunch of noise...

Elon Musk compares Bill Gates to pregnant man emoji in tweet mocking the Microsoft billionaire's belly as a 'b*ner killer'

Tesla founder Elon Musk dissed Bill Gates' gut on Twitter today, posting a photo of the Microsoft mogul alongside Apple's controversial pregnant man emoji 'in case you need to kill a boner.' Musk, the world's richest person and chief executive of the American company, posted a follow-up image in response to the Friday post of six hooded figured captioned 'shadow ban council reviewing Tweet.' The lowbrow joke could further infuriate woke Twitter staffers angered by Musk's ongoing bid to buy the firm after saying he'd take a hardline stance supporting free speech. That is because the pregnant man emoji is aimed at being inclusive to transgender people - with Musk frequently taking aim at what he sees as woke overreach, while repeatedly insisting that he bears no ill-will towards the LGBTQ community. Many have moaned about Musk, accusing him of being a transphobe over a 2020 tweet mocking pronouns, as well as a bully. But others have said he is the breath of fresh air that American needs against big tech censorship. Responses to the richest man's jab at the fellow billionaire's expense garnered mixed reactions on the platform: 'How is this man such a savage hahahaha,' wrote one user.

Proof that you don’t have to look like a model to pick up woman. A few billion dollars will do.

So, one hypothetical question begs to be asked, should Elon Musk be nominated for POTUS? Hypothetical, because he legally can't, cause he wasn't born in US?

I know that if I was US citizen I would vote for him, hands down.

Not everyone thinks this is a great thing.
Takei sounds like a "traditional" liberal. Traditional liberals are pro-free speech and debate. Radical leftists by contrast want to suppress opinions and claims that they dislike.

As an illustration, the ACLU historically defended the right of Neo-Nazis to march and propagandize, despite hating their ideology. The current ACLU has officially rejected that older stance and will not help any cause it deems hateful.

Modern liberals are Marxists posing as liberals, as they now have quite illiberal ideas. Takei's identification of 'fascism' as the foremost threat that society faces--nearly 80 years after the death of Mussolini, the last and only fascist leader--rather suggests that he belongs in the Marxist contingent, who typically try to paint their opponents as 'fascists'.

Yeah, fascism tends to be a bit overused by people who just need a political smear. Communism, Nazism and Fascism are all different types of socialism that all have in common violent takeover of political power. Fascism in its original form is a syndicalism or political system in which working people were represented through syndicates, instead through political party or government. Fascism has nothing to do with mass murder, concentration camps, persecution of Jews etc. Mostly because Italians are really nice people :). Bad things were done through Nazism and Communism.

Elon Musk slams Twitter's top lawyer who sobbed after he bought social media network and blasts her for 'incredibly inappropriate' censorship of Hunter Biden laptop story

Vijaya Gadde, 48, broke down in tears on Monday, Politico reported, as she briefed her team via videolink on the future of the company under Musk. Musk, 50, responded by criticizing the decision to suspend The New York Post's account, amid controversy over their reporting of Hunter Biden's laptop. Musk commented: 'Suspending the Twitter account of a major news organization for publishing a truthful story was obviously incredibly inappropriate.' Twitter spokesperson Trenton Kennedy told Politico that Gadde 'became emotional when discussing her team's impact and the pride she feels in them.'
