If they say she died of anything other than stupidity, I'm going to call BS.
This is a popular Japanese dish called torisashi, or raw chicken sashimi.

I don't recommend eating it, even if it has been prepared 'properly'. My brother lived in Japan for several years and had the dish without ill effect. I was offered it but refused when I went there.
I did try raw horse meat sashimi. It wasn't particularly great. Horse is generally considered to be inferior meat in this country and is almost never consumed intentionally any more. I have to qualify that remark with intentionally because of the great European horse meat scandal of a few years ago:

Also, to compare the pictured chicken above to the doneness of steak, it is not medium rare, but blue.
