Or keep track of the story. Two days ago cash flow was increasing. Fortunately I can help!

Gene, get out of the house and pick someone up on Uber or Lyft. Problem solved. And it gets you out of the motel room, which should be a good thing.

Unfortunately he can't do that due to his serious disability - pathological laziness.

I am a very optimistic person by nature, until I go into a place like Walmart, like I did today...The experiences and things I see when I'm in that store rips the optimism right out of me..."Pathological Laziness", that must be why all these people are riding through the Walmart store on those motorized buggies, people who do not need them, who easily walk from the car they park near the building instead of a parking space like everyone else and right up to those buggies and climb in to do their shopping...x3

Sorry, rant over...

It's a combination of societal ills and personal responsibility, as always, in this world. By the time you get to the end game of needing to ask for money online, being so obese or smoke so much that you can't walk through a store, etc, you've already spent years or decades digging that hole. And that hole eventually becomes a grave.

It's more annoying in Gene's situation, because he at least has a livable income off of doing very, very little comparatively.

Right that truly is pathological laziness. I have seen a lot of people like that who can walk and indeed should be walking (because let's be honest a large number of the people on those mobility scooters are obese) and it is sad because they are basically hastening their own ends.

If they actually got off their backsides and did more walking then it would have a massive effect on their ability to mobilise as I suspect many of them use those scooters due to osteoarthritic pain which often improves with weight loss.

I think part of this is because people are now programmed to believe that any pain or discomfort is bad and must not be tolerated.

I also don't understand why people are so desperate to park as close to the shops (e.g. supermarket as possible) - I always park as far away as possible, it is way quicker because you aren't fighting for spaces and it makes it much easier to get in your 10K steps per day. - Still you see people waiting near the "prime" spaces when they could just park further away immediately.

I just go in do my shopping and get out, oftentimes whilst those lazy people are still waiting to get a place.

It is crazy really. They are wasting time for nothing.

I suspect we are headed to a point where most of humanity will be like the people in the movie Wal-E.

Maybe Gene just eats the money - that's why he needs so much. Can't be many calories in paper/fabric or whatever fiber it is made of and that is why it is never enough.

That's hilarious, that's me exactly. If a lot is basically empty on off hours, sure I'll park close, but I usually park as far back as possible that will give me two-three lanes of space. I rather walk the extra 20-40 seconds than tangle with a bunch of idiotic drivers. And walking is healthy too.

Some people just don't embrace the grind, understanding in the end it pays off and it keeps you sharp and/or healthy. Embracing complacency just means you'll be that much more worse off in the end.

And nowadays, we even have the pickup option, where lazy asses don't even have to get out of their vehicle. They just schedule a pickup and pay the fee because they can't be inconvenience to even move. It pisses me off seeing already underpaid workers playing servant to this kind of nonsense.

These people I saw today were not obese, granted there were a couple people who obviously needed a motorized buggy and I commend them for making the efforts to actually go into the store and get their own food instead of using the pick-up service...But the rest of them look like lazy bums to me, just taking advantage of the situation...

I always park way out there away from the shops, I usually have my dog with me and he doesn't like cars parking right next to mine lol...I don't mind walking through the parking lot to the store front, I usually walk and/or hike about 15 miles a day on average, half of that is with my dog who needs daily exercise so we take hikes in the forest which is all around me...

@David Biedny if by chance your still chillin with us can I ask you this; Where do you stand on the IDH/ETH split, and it seems to me (at least) that the whole abduction thing is almost pretty much a thing of the past as well, and that makes me wonder about that as well. Do you have a say on this?

Once a species figures out how to bend space/time to be able to move between stars, by definition, it becomes "multidimensional capable", so in my opinion, it's a moot question. The UFO phenomenon is most likely a superset of that approach.

Maybe not the right thread for this but here it is. There are two ways to approach a problem. One is to deal with it directly and the other is to rationalize it away.

I have a good friend that I've known and worked with for over thirty years. Wonderful guy and a man who I could call this instant, demand the shirt off his back and he'd give it to me. And vice-versa. But he is morbidly obese yet comes up with the most outrageous nonsense to paint himself as some sort of victim. That sort of thinking also affects other parts of his life. Unfortunately he is not alone with this by a long stretch. It's always different for him. He's a short hop from needing a scooter in stores yet won't admit that his caloric intake and sedentary lifestyle are the root cause. As well as the need for multiple back and foot surgeries, endless medications, you name it.

Childhood obesity pisses me off beyond description. I weighed 200 lbs in grade school, 300 in junior high and maxed out at 330. Lost it by myself (130lbs) before I turned 19 and became physically fit for life. Many, many years later I paid out of pocket to have 5lbs of skin removed. THAT was ZERO fun but I have no regrets. I've maintained myself in the years since and you would never know. To my friend this makes me some sort of physical fitness lunatic. Uh-huh. Believe me, I have my bad habits, no lack of arthritis, this that and the other thing but keep doing it to keep all that crap at bay as long as possible.

This really is a case where and ounce of prevention is worth a pound - or maybe a couple of hundred - of cure. The gym isn't for everybody. Get a dog and walk it, take the stairs, walk a little. Stop eating crap.

I suppose if I had to tie it in to something relevant you either take responsibility for your actions or you make it someone else's. Personally, I keep my s*** together and try to leave a light footprint. Look at all the problems that visit those who don't.

Sorry for the Susquehanna Hat Company diatribe .....

Great account, that takes a lot of work, I definitely understand.

I've always joked I would make a great fugitive, because depending on the time of my life that people saw my, my appearance changed drastically. I was always a lanky kid, through high school and college, and eventually hit a wall of depression and with age gained weight. I think I maxed out at 260, leveled off around 240, then in a matter of five months or so manage to drop around 60 pounds. I would go pure fat free diet and walk a good 2-3 hours daily.

About a year ago I fell back again around 210, but now I'm in my comfortable 170 range at 6'2, it's pretty lean.

I think there are honest people who fall into depression or have problems, that cascades into other issues, into a rut that they can't get out of. I don't think there's one grand answer to every single problem. It seems like society falls only between, "hey screw any kind of social net, just give more to the rich because they need more!" or "give everyone everything on society's dime."

I just put it this way, there are dishonest, untalented, lazy people who are rich and got there by the people they know, the family they grew up in, or stepping on others. And there are dishonest, untalented, lazy people on down the social ladder who expect everything done for them that Gene is obviously one of.

In the United States it is very hard for many people to maintain a healthy weight. I see it all the time. There is just so much tasty food full of sugar and fat being pushed at us all the time and, who doesn't like food? And for many of us, our lives have become sedentary. And I agree there is an emotional component to it and something of a negative feedback loop.

It's tough. My hat is off to those who find a way to stay healthy. I'm about twenty pounds above where I should be right now, but headed in the right direction. Harder than getting there will be staying there, I know.

@nivek , do you have any idea if Gordon (Goggs) from the Paracast was ever approached about hooking up with us? He seems to have gone quiet again. I asked Gene once about him and the answer that I got made me think he had some emotional issues to contend with. I'd like to see him on board.
I dialogued with Goggs in Paracast private messages, telling him the low down on Gene. He said that he could successfully separate the scumbag Gene from the Paracast Gene who never has failed to deliver a new episode on time. Then Goggs reported me to Gene and Gene banned me. So good luck with Goggs.

Latest update and no this is not a spoof:

A very embarrassing moment!

Hi,

With 82 cents left in my PayPal account, I convinced the owner of a takeout restaurant last night to let us have a small meal and pay for it when I can.

I never want to go through that again!

Today I have to pay the front office at the motel to continue to have a place to stay. And then there’s our next meal…

As I’ve said before, there is good news on the horizon. I’m working with a web developer/marketing person to release the new Paracast site as soon as possible and push hard to boost revenue. It should go live in a few days, but obviously it’ll take a while for cash flow to improve.

In the meantime, I’m trying hard to get past this nightmare.

Are you able to help me get through the weekend?

I welcome your subscription to our premium packages for the two radio shows, The Paracast+ and The Tech Night Owl+.

Or, you can send me a donation, please go to: Send Money, Pay Online or Set Up a Merchant Account - PayPal, login and use the Send to friends and family option. Enter my email address, gene@technightowl.com, and click or tap Next to continue the transaction.

I can also accept donations through Facebook Messenger and Apple Pay Cash via the Messages app.

If you’re not able to send a donation, feel free to forward this message to someone who might assist.

If you have any questions about my living situation, please let me know.

I would also like to receive some legal help to deal with the online stalkers. They are also going after my family members.

Peace,
Gene

We are not really adapted to living in times of excess easily available food. The addictivity of high sugar, high fat food is similar to crack cocaine for some people and it can put them into a metabolic cycle that is very hard to break out of. It is a pathological environment and the increase in more sedentary lifestyles is only making it worse. It isn't easy, I have a lot of struggles with my own weight. It is something you have to constantly work on but I think it is sad how many people just give up.

I think the more annoying thing is preparation and cost, as well as routine. The crappy stuff is cheaper and easier to prepare. If you goto say, McDonald's, its much cheaper to get a double cheeseburger than a salad - even though hypothetically the amount of vegetables and stuff in a salad should be about as much. If healthier food were more accessible and cheaper, I don't feel this would be a problem.

I mean, I could live off of Ramen literally, but it would inflame me inside out and I would gain a ton of weight.

Right now I eat a ketogenic diet, that's extremely restrictive. I employ intermittent fasting (my record is 5 days) when I feel things are going the wrong way.

What a slimy bastard. I thought he was a good guy. Ignoring Gene's behaviour is bad enough - it is enabling him and makes him complicit in everything Gene does. The snitching is just the icing on the cake.

And speaking of Ramen, what the hell is he going OUT to eat for with he has less than a dollar apparently?

It's pathetic he's mooching off of small business owners when he could be buying soup and crackers and some bread and tuna or something at the same cost. What the hell is wrong with this guy?? He convinced a takeout owner to give something to him free that he shouldn't be buying in the first place??????

Damn this guy gets more and more pathetic.

That's exactly what I'm doing IF and low carb diet - full ketogenic is too risky for me because I'm a type 1 diabetic on insulin.

It was when I was working really long hours (80, sometimes 100 hour weeks) that I got really fat because I was not sleeping much and I constantly craved carb rich foods.

Noodles like ramen and chocolate bars (from a machine) were sometimes my only option and the only thing I had time for.

For me things like bread and pasta are just danger foods - once I start eating them I can't stop.

I think he gets some kind of sexual gratification from the grifting itself. He has to get something for nothing or his day is not complete. Also we know he is supremely lazy and considers certain things (like making his own food) beneath him.

The keto subreddit has lots of information on those combinations for diabetics, but I would consult a doctor or trained nutritionist before trying it. I know ketosis is a mild form of ketoacidosis, and it may be dangerous for type 1 diabetics to go full into this diet. But you read accounts like this:

r/keto - Type 1 diabetic on keto - this must be illegal somehow

And it seems like under trained and researched situations, it can help those situations out. But I'm not a trained professional, so I can't advise. Those are just the type of anecdotal things I read.

On a side note, I'm also glad the disgusting pharmaceutical company that raised Epipen prices now has to deal with a generic competitor that was just approved by the FDA.
