Good and Bad

Okay, I've to tell you that there's no such thing as good or bad
and before you rage out and start attacking me with hateful comments, finish reading :D

When something does not fit our terms, we identify it as something that is negative, something that is bad and that we should stay away from. The same goes for what we identify as good; When we see that __ANYTHING__ fits our terms, we want that for ourselves and call it good. But never do we think about what the good holds for us or others.

Let's say you have an axe and you are chopping a tree; Do you think this is a good or a bad thing?
Well, it's both, but let's analyze this; Everytime you use that axe and hit the tree your muscle fibers are (powered) and everytime you repeat the process fibers will get bigger for the next time the healing process is completed, they will be able to store more strength - (Good). When you chop that tree down you will be the cause of death of bugs or animals that live on or "inside" that tree, they will have no proteciton and therefore be vulnerable to other animals (Bad). But getting all that wood will let you make a fire and cook some food, the heat will warm you and the food will fill your stomach (Good).

Basically, anything that is objective can never be identified as either good or bad because anything objective has negativities and positivities which applies for everyone.

I stopped believing in the idea of Karma, how the good and bad comes back to you whenever you do good/bad because anything around us is made up of (+) and (-) 's, the good or the bad is not going around because it is everywhere, whereever I go, whatever i touch, includes the negativities and positivities that may or may not satisfy me.
I also stopped viewing the "bad" as something negative because I understand that there's always, no matter what, something positive for me in that "bad".

This is a very thought provoking essay! What you are bringing attention to I think, is the relativity of the world. Is it good that we blow up the middle east so we can continue printing petrodollar and maintain it's value? It's good for the defense contractors sure, for U.S economy in the short term, yes. But for the families destroyed and enslaved by vaccum of power (ISIS) and the million+ refugees flooding Europe that don't mix well, for environmental reasons, not good at all.

I wrote something somewhat related to the concept of good/bad. It's one example of the aristolian logic of things being "either.. or". I explored it on the U-M forum a while back.

Regardless, on how you try to make excuses for what you did, it's still bad and karma is a bitch!

Subjectively yes, but even then a matter of situation...What is good for one may be bad for another...A species in space billions of light years away may do something they need to exist that we would find revoltingly evil, but to them its a very positive thing...
