I stand corrected. I was of the opinion it was a lot more each year.

Today my wife and I decided to head over to get some drive in ice cream. I guess the wearing of masks is fading quickly. I counted twenty plus people waiting to order food. Exactly one person was wearing a mask, my wife. We got our ice cream cones and sat in our vehicle eating them. I wonder how events will transpire in the near future.

The question becomes: how long will the government pay unemployment benefits?

In the early 1990s I found myself stuck in a shitty job similar to your position. Here I was with a degree in electronics and I was laid off and had to work in a menial position at Toys R Us. What a come down. My immediate supervisor was a young girl fresh out of college who didn’t know her a** from a hole in the ground. I got through it somehow until I found a position with VZ phone company. You just have to grit your teeth and see it through, as tough as that may be.

    October is the current plan.

I believe in August, companies are going to be expected to contributed 20% towards the cost of the Government paying your wages.

So looking forward to the tax rises next year to pay for all this!

80% of my pay each month. Normal taxes, pension deductions and National Issue still applies.

I haven't had any tests done yet to see if I have or had covid-19, I recently found a site which shows me all of the testing centers close by and their requirements...Some have anti-body testing, some do not offer that...I want to get both tests performed sometime soon...

I have not spoken to anyone directly this day, and to no one outside this forum nor have I left the house for any reason...It feels like the beginning when the coronavirus first started spreading rapidly when we began self-imposed lockdown...There's 30 new cases in the small town near my place, I don't think they had that many new cases in one day before...

I am pretty sure I had it already. Seriously, I had every symptom listed and it lasted about 7-8 weeks. I had already quit smoking and I could not believe that this cold/flu was making me cough louder and harder and more often than I had ever coughed before. I was worried about my heart giving out. One day I would feel on the mend and the next I was sicker than ever. I honestly thought I may die.

Once it passed, then the information about corona virus hit the media worldwide. I haven't done anything to guard myself against it because I honestly think I already had it. I go shopping without a mask or gloves. I don't travel with hand sanitizer or wet wipes of any kind and I wash my hands but, no more than I usually would.

Why do you feel you need to be tested, Nivek? Did you have something similar happen to you?

What about your job? Are they okay about you staying away?

I wanted to get tested to know for certain if I had it or have it, I don't think I have been exposed to it yet, and never really showed any combined symptoms since this pandemic began, although a few times it's been close calls on exposure with people at work falling ill because of covid-19...When this first started here I stayed out of work for two weeks, then gradually started going back in more and more back to regular hours, now the virus is flaring up again so like it or not at work I'm making the call if it feels safe to be there...If work doesn't like it that's their problem not mine, my life is worth more than that job and I don't want to get the virus unknowingly and spread it to others who would die from it, like my mother...I can get another job without much trouble, I have only one life and I do not want to go out laying in a hospital bed on a ventilator...This isn't fear but common sense and rational reasoning, I don't fear dying, but I'd like to have some say in how I go out if possible lol...

I know that in the county I live in there was a total of one place (a hospital) that did testing for the Corona virus. I had to travel to this hospital and be tested before I had an operation a few months ago.

I had to go in alone to get my test. I had to wear my mask. I went into a secluded room where the nurse or technician pushed a swab up both nostrils. No one took my temperature. Thankfully I was found to be negative to the virus.

Well, I know I'm not in danger of spreading it because I keep my distance from everyone just like I am supposed to and I only go out maybe 2 -3 times a month and that's just to get what I need from the stores, but that's a normal amount for me to go out. I like staying home. I have been a bit of a hermit for about 20 years now.
The pharmacist across the street says that the first reported case of the virus here in Alberta was in Calgary in March. I had it in January & February. I told him that there were probably a lot of people like me that don't bother going to a doctor when they think they have a cold or flu. What would be the point?
He asked me how I would have contracted it. I told him I shop at Walmart, everything they sell comes from China.

Have you been tested?...How do you know for sure you had Covid-19?...It's symptoms are similar to many other viruses, without testing one cannot know for sure...

It was very short-lived and insulting in the end...He sent out an email last week stating he was making salary "adjustments" across the board claiming business losses and profit losses necessitated these "adjustments"...He said he was reducing our salaries between 5% to 20% depending on what each of us made and once business was better again he would reinstate that percentage taken...Well everyone I talked to said their salary was cut 20% including mine which took back most of the increase I was recently given...He knew he was going to take it back, I just know he knew it...He lost a couple good people over this "adjustment" and he lost me as well...What he did was quite insulting to me and I cannot get over it, working hard for him only to play with my income this way...He's also been bitching and complaining so much lately about every little thing, talking down to his employees, making the workplace even more stressful than it needs to be, I don't need it...

What will happen when this owner starts to lose key managers and employees to his wage cuts. Will he be able to keep the doors open then?

Gone are the days of appreciation to employees and loyal customers. I am sickened by how many people are being treated the same way you are by their so called formally "terrific" bosses. Especially now when so many people went above and beyond the call of duty to keep their business' running smoothly while their bosses stayed home, safe and protected.

You do realize that this is that time of year where fiscal profits are tallied? It's as though all these bosses took some kind of seminar on how to blame the employee so they can keep from loosing their regular fiscal profit.

Whatever managers and especially owners do will be characterized as a win-win and as the solution to a problem. They get to write their own press releases - while their companies swirl around the porcelain.

One thing I have noticed from past job experiences. Once an employee leaves a company and then returns for a second time, you can bet the farm that person will be leaving again down the road. The reason(s) they left in the first place won’t be corrected the second time around, more than likely.
