Doing what I can to secure house and belongings that will be left behind tomorrow. Hurricane strength winds are approximately 40 mi from the eye and tropical storm force winds up to 140 mi from eye, I think. Either way, its devastating.

Is there a safe location in Florida to ride out a storm like that?

Thanks for posting this. I live on the East Coast and it's starting to stress me out. :worried: I have nothing but sympathy for the people of Houston when I see the footage on the news.

That being said, I have to get this off my chest. Whenever a major hurricane threatens US coastal areas nowadays we always see those interviews with the people who've built expensive luxury homes right on the beach. When they're asked how they feel about the impending threat, they always have that same reply: "Well that's the price you pay for living in paradise!" C'mon, tell the truth, doesn't that snobby attitude make you root for the hurricane deep down inside?

Anybody in southern Florida and eastern Florida. GET OUT NOW!! Follow the instructions of emergency management and heed the warnings! This is NOT a storm you can "ride out" this is a storm that will KILL you. I take up weather as a hobby and this is the storm Saturday evening early Sunday.

They're saying it could become the most powerful hurricane in US history. Starting to get scary!

That's the problem with Florida -- there is no high ground.

It will be the strongest by a wide margin. There is no could. See the black area on the map i posted? That color isn't even on the graph. That black area is 200+ mph sustained winds with 230+ mph gusts. Total destruction.

Looks like it's going to head due north from there. So Miami and the entire east coast of Florida is going to be pretty literally fucked. It will start to lose steam and landfall will occur in Georgia as a strong cat 3 is my bet.

There's a tropical depression that just formed off the coast of Mexico, it's building strength and expected to be a tropical storm or stronger by Friday and possible head to Texas...This tropical depression #13 could become a hurricane...Jose is following right behind Irma...

Irma may suck all the moisture and the energy up though so Jose will not even be even nearly as strong as Irma but it still needs to be watched.

Looks like landfall will be Monday evening on the Georgia boarder as an extremely strong biblical sub 890mb monster category 5. Dear god.... Anybody around this area please get the hell out or you will die.
