The one video I saw online was showing a close up view of the monolith. It was held together with pop rivets. Unless some aliens use that crude technology it was made by human hands. For what purpose, who knows? I would bet the BLM went out there and removed it.
Made from aluminium held together by pop rivets , sounds like a Terran thing to me. Is there a road there to give direct access to the Monolith ? Any tire tracks perhaps ?

The video I mentioned was by a guy who shot a video of his visit there (sorry I didn’t copy the Internet address). He said that he drove to a certain point and then and to hike in to the area. There were around 15 people at the site when he arrived so it couldn’t have been much of a secret.
