McDonald's closes ALL of its US offices and cancels in-person meetings this week as it prepares mass layoff of corporate staff - after CEO warned 'difficult decisions' will be made​

McDonald's has temporarily shut down all of their U.S. offices as they prepare to deliver layoff messages online to an unknown number of their employees across the country. According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, the layoffs - part of a company restructuring - will begin Monday after they told employees to work from home so they can deliver layoffs virtually. 'During the week of April 3, we will communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization,' McDonald's officials said in a memo. The company in their email shared that they made the decision to announce cuts virtually due to an anticipated busy travel week. It's unclear at this time how many employees are set to be laid off, however, CEO Chris Kempczinski said in a January email there would be 'difficult discussions and decisions ahead.'

Russia, Saudis, and other oil giants announce surprise production cuts until end of 2023​

Russia has extended oil production cuts until end of 2023. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and other major oil producers says they will cut oil production by 1.15 million barrels per day from May until the end of 2023. Russia on Sunday said it was extending until the end of the year oil production cuts of 500,000 barrels per day, a response to Western sanctions that was due to expire at the end of June.

Oil prices surge after surprise move to cut output​

The price of Brent crude oil is trading close to $85 a barrel after jumping by almost 6%. Economists warned that higher oil prices could make it harder to bring down the cost of living. But the RAC motoring group said it does not expect petrol prices to rise unless the higher oil price is sustained over several days.

Brent crude prices rose after Saudi Arabia, Iraq and several Gulf states said on Sunday they were cutting output by more than one million barrels of oil a day. In addition, Russia said it will extend its cut of half a million barrels per day until the end of the year.

Norfolk Southern train cars derail, spilling diesel and oil; 2 taken to hospital​

At least 11 cars in a Norfolk Southern train derailed in Jasper, Alabama, on late Saturday, spilling diesel fuel and engine oil.

Authorities transported at least two crew members to a nearby hospital following the crash, but both have since been released. Norfolk says there is no hazmat threat from the derailed cars, and its cleanup teams are currently working in the area.

"According to Norfolk Southern, the train crew was briefly trapped in the engine room because the engine tilted over. There were no major injuries, but RPS was called to the scene to evaluate the crew and transported two crew members as a precaution," Jasper Police wrote in a statement.

"Jasper Fire called all personnel in to assist the crew in getting out of the train and managing the scene, along with Jasper Police. Norfolk Southern and Walker County EMA are remaining on the scene to return the track to service," the statement continued.

Norfolk acknowledged the spillage in its own statement on the derailment on Sunday.

"During the derailment, the locomotive rolled onto its side and as a result spilled some diesel fuel and engine oil. Norfolk Southern crews have responded and have been working through the night on cleanup. We'd also like to thank the first responders who quickly arrived on-scene and took care of our crew," the company wrote.

Truck carrying toxic soil from East Palestine train derailment crashes on highway and overturns (but officials again say there's nothing to worry about)​

A truck carrying soil polluted by the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment overturned Monday afternoon in Columbiana County, spilling out 20,000 pounds of toxic soil.

According to local authorities and the Ohio EPA, the truck was carrying 40,000 pounds of contaminated soil from the derailment site at the time.

Despite dumping out thousands of pounds of contaminated soil along the roadway, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said, 'the spill was contained and is not a threat to nearby waterways.'

The crash comes just two months after a Norfolk Southern train went off the tracks on February 3 in East Palestine while carrying numerous hazardous substances.

Residents in the area have been jostled back and forth by local officials, having been forced to evacuate initially and then later told there was no cause for concern.

A Target security guard punched a customer during a confrontation that was sparked when she asked for “reparations” while at a checkout line with more than $1,000 in groceries, according to a police report.
The ugly incident happened in October at the megastore in Blue Ash, Ohio and began when Karen Ivery asked a cashier for their manager regarding the bill and reparations, according to the police report reviewed by The Post.
The cashier alleged to authorities Ivery brought up reparations several times during their brief encounter before the manager arrived, the report states.
When speaking with the manager, the customer first asked for reparations and grew angry as she walked “aggressively” toward the manager, according to the report.
“Ivery kept berating her about reparations and her privileged life,” the report alleges as the patron kept walking toward the manager.
That’s when Zach Cotter, a loss prevention officer, intervened and asked Ivery to calm down and leave the store, the report states.
But she then allegedly began screaming at Cotter and followed him to his office.
When he tried to shut the door, Ivery allegedly forced her way in and Cotter threw a punch, according to the report.

Surveillance footage of the incident reported on by the Daily Mail shows the staffer’s punch cause the woman to hit the floor.
After reviewing footage of the incident, authorities wrote they determined Ivery was the “aggressor” and she was placed under arrest.
“Ivery was confrontational with officers on the scene and didn’t want to explain her actions,” the report states.
Reparations have been a topic for heated debate in recent years that involves a government entity or other institution providing money or funding to people of color who are either descendants of slaves or marginalized in another way.
In a bodycam video of the purported incident put YouTube, Ivery told an officer she wanted the cashier to contact the manager “so we could have a larger conversation about how money works, and how the provision works, and how it’s been working in our community in a very wrong way.”
“This is my Rosa Parks moment,” she added.

Texas dairy explosion leaves at least 18,000 cattle dead, 1 person critically injured​

Approximately 18,000 cows were killed, and one person was critically injured, in an explosion at a dairy farm in the Texas Panhandle on Monday.

The Castro County Sheriff’s Office confirmed with Fox News Digital that the cows were in a holding area before being brought in for milking when the blast occurred at the Southfork Dairy Farm in Dimmitt.

Very few cows in the holding area survived, officials told local outlet KFDA.

"Your count probably is close to that. There’s some that survived, there’s some that are probably injured to the point where they’ll have to be destroyed," Castro County Sherif Sal Rivera told KFDA.

Police said they received eight calls just before 7:30 p.m. Monday about an explosion and fire. Callers said some employees were trapped inside the milking building.

When law enforcement officials arrived at the dairy farm, they determined only a woman was trapped in the dairy building. Officials said all the other dairy employees were accounted for and were safe.

The Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

"The speculation was probably what they call a honey badger, which is a vacuum that sucks the manure and water out and possibly that it got overheated and probably the methane and things like that ignited and spread out and exploded and the fire," Rivera told local outlet KSAT.

Everyone’s favorite cartoon pooch now has a real-life replica after a dog has gone viral for its eerie resemblance of the “Peanuts” character.
Bayley, a black and white Mini Sheepadoodle, sports a pair of black ears and a large black snout on top of her mostly white coated body, making her a dead ringer for Snoopy.
The sheepadoodle has gained attention this week after Doodles Dog Club featured the canine alongside the cartoon dog claiming the pooch is going viral for the similarities.
“Meet Bayley.Sheepadoodle, the spitting Image of Snoopy,” read the caption on the post, which has been like over 1 million times. “With those big ears and that button nose, Bayley is the perfect real-life version of our favorite cartoon dog.”

Bayley.sheepdog, the account that features Snoopy’s doppelganger, has over 157,000 followers as of Thursday morning and shares the cute dog posing for various photos and videos, while many different sound effects play in the background.
On Tuesday, Bayley’s owners celebrated National Pet Day by sharing a video of Bayley giving “paw” with the caption “Happy National Pet Day. Mom says I am the cutest pet she has ever seen but to be fair, I am her first and the only furbaby.”
The account, which has posts dating back to October 2022, has Bayley listed as a two-year-old pooch with her birthday on May 4, while being based in the USA.
The Miniature Sheepadoodle is an Old English Sheepdog-Mini Poodle mix, that has an average height of 20 inches and can weigh up to 45 pounds, according to the dog adoption agency Premier pups.

You think about it nobody under a certain age even knows or cares about Peanuts anymore. I was in the supermarket and notice they still sell Flintstones cereals - same thing. That's either marketed at old stoners or kids who don't care but need a severe sugar fix.

But Snoopy is cool and will stay that way for me.

Man, you just triggered a nostalgia bolt in me! Back when the Flintstones were on, the family would actually roll the TV into the dining room and we would watch them during dinner.
