You really don't know what you are talking about. You don't even live in the U.S. anymore, how long has it been and what southern state did you live in when you were here, probably someplace like Mississippi or Kentucky based on your opinions.

So, it is ok to call someone ignorant because they come from a particular state? How is this different from calling people from non-Western countries "savages"?

This is insane, they are already taxing the hell out of gasoline...Good way to lose the next election Obiden...

Pete Buttigieg says the Biden administration is considering taxing drivers by the MILE to fund their $3trillion climate-friendly infrastructure proposal

The White House is mulling a tax on vehicles' mileage to pay for a proposal to revamp the nation's infrastructure expected in the coming days, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said on Friday.

In an interview with CNBC, Buttigieg said a tax on miles driven 'shows a lot of promise,' as President Joe Biden's administration faces pressure to find ways to fund infrastructure improvements, a goal that has eluded the past two presidential administrations.

'The gas tax used to be the obvious way to do it. It's not anymore, so a so-called vehicle miles traveled tax or mileage tax, whatever you want to call, could be a way to do it.'

Excuse me, my reference was to south eastern states where no one knows what is going on at the border. It had nothing to do with anything else. I have relatives in Kentucky and they are not ignorant but they have no idea what is going on at the border. You know any of us can choose to take offense at anything we want, it is what PC out of control is about.

We heard this before but it never happened.

I've not heard of a mileage tax proposed before from any president or previous congress, but I may have missed it in the past since I don't pay attention to everything the Legislative branch may have on the agenda...

In this case I happened to open Dailymail and that was the front and first headline I saw, it rubbed me wrong and I didn't read another article after that...I put my tablet down and went for a drive lol...:laugh8:

No probs, thanks for the clarification. My wife works in education and Kentucky, Mississippi, and Arkansas are the butt of too many jokes.

I know I have heard it before, maybe from a state legislature or it was a rumor mill story. It has been quite a few years since I first heard about it and it will never fly because even though we are being tracked everywhere and insurance companies encourage using a driving tracker, the onerous task of keep track of the miles everyone drives and what jurisdiction they are driving in would cost more than the tax could bring in. The only way it would work is to make EVERY road a toll road. (something Texas seems to be working on)

I know, it really has to do with where the money put in to schools is allocated and I found that places like Texas that have a lot of money don't do any better at education than any place else.

At the moment New Mexico is ranked either 49th or 50th in education, and it is because of our previous governor taking liberties with the education budget and requiring teachers spend more time proving they deserve a raise, instead of making sure the schools and teachers have what they need.

In Texas in the 80's the state legislators created a "robin hood" bill to force school systems with a high tax base to share money with schools systems in a low tax base, and it did not work well because there were often more administrators than teachers in every school district. It was a nice thought to try to level the field but it was poorly thought out. Later, they redesignated the funds to eliminate a lot of administrators, which actually helped the schools that needed help.

I realize how my words seemed and it wasn't my intention.

Apocalyptic oil refinery explosion in Indonesia after lightning strike

A towering inferno has engulfed a large oil refinery in West Java, Indonesia after an explosion occurred at midnight on Monday. The flames quickly grew out of control, leaving 5 people seriously injured, and resulting in an evacuation that has relocated around 1,000 people living in the area. One person also died of a heart attack afterward.

Whilst the cause of the fire is currently unknown, heavy rain and lightning were seen just prior to the explosion, leaving some suspecting a lightning strike as the culprit. Others have suggested foul play, although it remains too early to tell.

“There was a very loud sound and I thought it was a hurricane,” said Rumaji, a local resident. “I looked outside and the fire was huge. The flames were shooting into the sky.”

Biden administration FINALLY lets media into biggest shelter for migrant kids - where one in seven has COVID: Rammed tent structure is at 1,700% capacity with 2,000 kids who've overstayed 72-hour legal limit - and there's a lice outbreak

President Joe Biden's administration for the first time Tuesday allowed journalists inside its main border detention facility for migrant children. The tour revealed a severely overcrowded tent structure where more than 4,000 migrants, including children and families, were crammed into pods and the youngest kept in a large play pen with mats on the floor for sleeping. The conditions at the border are spiraling into a public relations nightmare for the administration. New images released every day show children on rafts crossing the Rio Grande, Republicans have shared photos of kids sleeping on the floor of overcrowded shelters wrapped in silver foil blankets, and the government numbers predict more migrants are coming.

With thousands of children and families arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border in recent weeks and packing facilities, Biden has been under pressure to bring more transparency to the process. U.S. Customs and Border Protection allowed two journalists from The Associated Press and a crew from CBS to tour the facility in Donna, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley. Lawmakers also have toured the facility and shared images of the crowded conditions. The shelter has a capacity of 250 but more than 4,100 people were being housed on the property Tuesday.

Border crossings hit 20 YEAR high: Shocking data reveals 170,000 arrived in March - double the amount for February - after Biden said level was 'normal' and it 'happens every single solitary year'

New government statistics have revealed that 171,000 migrants came across the southern border in March - the highest monthly total in two decades and nearly double the number that came here in February. The total includes about 19,000 unaccompanied minors - a group of immigrants the Biden Administration is desperate to contain amid overflowing Customs and Border Patrol facilities. Health and Human Services Facilities is also racing to open more facilities to house migrant children - who are currently crammed into facilities that are overcapacity and at the center of COVID outbreaks.

The statistics on the number of immigrants who were apprehended is just the latest sign of the mounting humanitarian challenge confronting President Biden, and undercuts his statement that it is part of a seasonal and recurring problem. The preliminary March arrest totals at the U.S.-Mexico border represent the highest monthly level since April 2000, when border patrol agents caught more than 180,000 migrants.

The total includes about 19,000 unaccompanied migrant children and 53,000 family members traveling together, the figures show. Single adults made up roughly 99,000 of the total. The Biden administration is struggling to house newly arrived unaccompanied children, who are exempted from expulsion under a COVID-19 health order known as Title 42. Children have been backed up in crowded border stations and processing centers for days.

Here's one from a few years ago dealing with 'one of the greatest medical scandals of the century'.

According to accusations by the Council of Europe's Chief of Health 'Major Pharmaceutical corporations organised a campaign of panic and unduly influenced World Health Organisation decisions' - deeply flawed projection models also get a mention.

Channel 4's John Snow reports on the Council of Europe's investigation into the manufactured swine flu hoax. The former Chair of the Sub-committee on Health of the Parliamentary Assembly Dr Wolfgang Wodarg had accused the World Health Organization (WHO) of lowering the definition of a pandemic in order for the pharmaceutical companies and their share holders to rake in massive at the expense of tax payers in targeted countries.

The thing that needs to be taken into account is that the border was essentially closed the 4 years that Trump was in office so all those people that have been in Mexico waiting are flooding through now.

The thing to take into account is that the border should have remained closed to illegal border crossings and there would be no problem...We have legal immigration processes and should not be condoning illegal activities...

It was this that caused the WHO to delay declaring Covid-19 a pandemic until the 11th of March, 2020.

No it happened long before the pandemic. Typically when people submit request for asylum they are kept on our side of the border while they wait for a decision. Early on Trump's administration (can't give that clown too much credit) decided to insist that they wait on the Mexican side of the border, putting a great burden on the Mexican government, and causing people to just camp by the border where they were in the same or similar dangers that they were fleeing from orinially. I won't argue about who deserves what, but as months went by fewer and fewer people were even allowed to submit their request, the lines every day grew longer and longer as fewer people were admitted or even given an avenue for filling out paperwork. The caravans that someone sponsored (and that is also debatable who) made things even worse. People were killed and children stolen daily by the cartels. Easy pickings due to the Trump administration. There were already problems when Obama was president but it was exponentially worse after 2016. AND that stupid border wall contest that Trump had was ridiculously nonsensical, as the wall design that got chosen was very expensive and was proven very quickly to be useless.

Capitol attack suspect identified as Louis Farrakhan follower, Noah Green

Capitol car crash suspect called Farrakhan 'Jesus, the Messiah' in recent Facebook posts

Sources have identified the suspect in a deadly Capitol attack as Noah Green, a 25-year-old from Indiana with ties to Virginia and the Nation of Islam.

Green allegedly slammed his sedan into two police officers near the Capitol’s North Barricade, the entrance where congress members and their aides come and go. The attack killed U.S. Capitol Police Officer William "Billy" Evans and injured another officer, who was still hospitalized Friday evening in stable condition.

Sources told Fox News it appeared to be a "lone wolf" attack and that the suspect identified himself as a Nation of Islam follower on Facebook who may have recently lost his job. A Facebook profile matching that description has been taken down by the social media giant – but Fox News reviewed a number of posts and images before that happened.

Facebook said it was working with law enforcement and had taken down the profile under its "Dangerous Individuals and Organizations" policy. The page included photos and videos of Nation of Islam rallies, and the bio identified Green as "Follower of Farrakhan." And a recent profile photo appears to resemble the build and haircut of news camera video showing the suspect being loaded into an ambulance.

The most recent post was a YouTube video of a 2009 Louis Farrakhan speech titled, "The Crucifixion of Michael Jackson." In it, the Nation of Islam leader said Jesus was not the Messiah and called Christian theology a lie.

In one post from March 17, Green wrote complained of being unemployed and tough times amid the pandemic and said his religious beliefs were keeping him going.

He also praised Farrakhan, an outspoken anti-Semite, as "Jesus" and former NOI leader Elijah Muhammad as "the exalted Christ."
