Pleasant 'Retro' Experience with USPS

I receive quite a few packages via USPS (United States Postal Service). Because I live in a high population area, the mail carriers vary, nonetheless, a few are recognizable as regulars.

Earlier today, I had an obligatory engagement and couldn't stay home to receive a scheduled USPS delivery. While miles away, I noted via email that I had indeed missed the attempted delivery. Around an hour to 90 minutes later, having just exited a shop, I was about to cross the street to go home, when suddenly I heard a lady call me by name. I looked, and it was one of the regular mail carriers. She alerted me that she had my packages with her since I wasn't home earlier to receive them. Then and there, she scanned the packages and handed them to me.

I found that to be a rather pleasant experience. It was nice to interact with an official person on a personable level, and to be recognized despite how huge the Bronx is. It gave me a sort of nostalgic feeling reaching back to when people in stores and other institutions used to relate to customers or clients in a more personal way, rather than the very routinized manner prevalent nowadays.
