We have "stop and search" in the UK but I believe the Police have to suspect a crime has or will be commited but the bar for which is very low.

Generally I am of the opinion that if you have nothing to hide, then what is the issue?

I normally keep away from political threads and seldom comment on them because I hate to loose friends lol.
But I would just like to say that this kind of 'P.C-Madness' is actually driving me crazy .. to the point of not watching any current affairs on T.V at all!
But I did get caught out the other morning when the GM-Britain show [I think it was] had one of my favourite personalities on [via internet of course] and that was actor and comedian Omid Djalili , it was a very disappointing and boring interview, that was only on to hammer this P.C strengthening initiative [that is being vastly overdone] even further into our tiny little caveman-like-brains by the 'obviously more sophisticated woke-folk' that have taken over that world over the last few years.
And to cut a long story short.... it generally angered me that the interviewers allowed my old comedic-actor-friend Omid to out and out say that it was not only to be considered racist [and all kinds of nasty things] for a 'Caucasian actor or comedian' to portray an 'ethnic person' either in fun or serious role … it was absolutely alright to reverse the situation and an ethnic person could indeed play a Caucasian person … because they were in the minority and the majority should not be offended!
Unbelievable I know! … I couldn't believe what I was watching and turned off the T.V in disbelief! … why the hell did nobody mention the fact that from the 7.8 billion people in the world today, that there is only approximately 760,000,000 Caucasians!! ...so who the fak are the minority races that he is on about???? :evil2:

...right, rant over! … carry on and ignore me please. :biggrinn8:

    Cheers Buddy.

Yes, I agree with you 100%. None of this is an excuse for violence and destruction by any means.

Calls to remove controversial Abraham Lincoln statue in Boston

The dismantling of controversial statues and monuments in the city of Boston is a mounting subject in the ongoing push for racial justice in the nation.

Calls to take down a statue of Abraham Lincoln in Boston's Park Square, between the Park Plaza and the Transportation Building, are growing. The statue of President Lincoln, the Great Empancipator, is depicted with a slave on his knees.

A petition to remove the statue was spearheaded by an African American man from Boston named Tory Bullock who says he's been seeing the statue since he was a kid.

"It says that it's a statue that's supposed to represent freedom. But, to me, it represents submissiveness," Bullock said. "It represents: 'Know your place, because that's where you belong.'"

A little bit of reality check:

One can't have the freedom to own firearms and relaxed and polite policing.

I am all for BLM, but in a country where everybody can drow a gun or never mind an assault rifle, it would be suicidal for policemen not to draw first and shoot first. You can't really blame them for mistakes when they have only a split second to decide. All the judgment passed on police was from 20/20 armchair perspective. Police Lives Matter as well, aka PLM.

Penny Lane, made famous by The Beatles, 'in danger of being renamed' if alleged slavery link proven, official says

Penny Lane, the road in Liverpool that gained worldwide recognition after The Beatles wrote a song about it, is now “in danger of being renamed” if it can be proven that its title is linked to a slave trader, a local politician says.

Steve Rotherham, the mayor of the Liverpool city region, issued the warning to Sky News on Monday as a debate has emerged over the origins of the name Penny Lane.

One of the road’s signs was defaced on Friday with the word “RACIST” spray-painted next to it in an apparent reference to James Penny, a Liverpool-based slave trader whom the BBC says defended the practice during a parliamentary inquiry in the late 1700s.

But the city’s International Slavery Museum tells Sky News that claims of Penny Lane being named after the James Penny are “not conclusive.”

"If it is as a direct consequence of that road being called Penny Lane because of James Penny, then that needs to be investigated," Rotherham said to the station. "Something needs to happen and I would say that sign and that road may well be in danger of being renamed.

However, Rotherham added there is “no evidence that is the fact.” He suggested Penny Lane got its name from a toll to cross the road that was once paid in pennies, according to Sky News.

Labour's David Lammy accuses Tories of wanting a 'culture war' as he condemns the PM's pledge for a 'back of a fag packet' race equality commission

Labour's David Lammy said Boris Johnson was not 'serious' about change and slammed him for accusing black people of 'playing the victim'. The backlash came after the PM said the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities would look at 'all aspects of inequality - in employment, in health outcomes, in academic and all other walks of life'. He told broadcasters: 'What I really want to do as Prime Minister is change the narrative so we stop the sense of victimisation and discrimination.' The announcement follows two weeks of protests across the country by the Black Lives Matter movement following the killing in the US of George Floyd, who died as a white police officer knelt on his neck. But Mr Johnson also defiantly insisted he would resist attempts to tear down Winston Churchill's statue 'with every breath in his body' after the structure was attacked by anti-fascist and BLM activists.

Police here are trained to use the gun as a compliance tool, even on people not displaying any weapons. Some of them are certainly known to draw the gun as if to emphasize to perps how angry and serious they are. The guy who was shot in Atlanta at Wendy's had managed to steal a taser, which is bright yellow and very difficult to mistake for a gun. By the logic of those who want tighter gun laws, we should be in a full shooting war by now. Instead, we see typical mob violence carried out by mostly unarmed people as happens all over the world.

That is a little bit "above and beyond" the gravity of the actual situation. That happens in Europe as well, where police carry weapons. For example, in many EU countries police has a right to shoot at a thief running away from a scene of crime. I think in a court of law stealing is not punished by the death sentence, so police should not be able to use deadly force on thieves just because they stole something. I would say human life is more precious than a small piece of property. Guns should be used by police only for selfdefence and for defence of public.

No argument about that but not sure this is about guns specifically.

My niece's fiance is a detective, former deputy sheriff on highway patrol. He doesn't talk about it much at all except to say that it's different when it's your ass that's required to confront someone, potentially violently, likely on your own. With the number of cops overall and the huge increase in 'confrontation' the ones that aren't exactly fit under that kind of duress will reveal themselves, and lately they've been doing to in a horrifying fashion. The vast majority of police quietly go about their jobs and we absolutely depend on to come running when we dial 911. We seem to be losing sight of that - especially in places like Chaz or Ghiz or whatever the f**k that enclave is.

The are others like the former cop Gregory McMichaels who could apparently execute a man in the street with his son and none of the local police seemed to have a problem with it, and all the local judges had to recuse themselves from the case. I think THAT is the problem. It might be 2020 but there are parts of this country where it's still 1920. I don't know if those Minneapolis cops did that because of racism or because the one that actually killed Floyd is a sick f**k and the rest couldn't or wouldn't confront him. If I were black I'd be righteously pissed and looking back on cases like George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery and Eric Garner I'm not sure I'd care about making the distinction.

Remember Obama's Beer Summit? I guess that didn't fix all this.

The Arbery case is particularly bad. Those arseholes appointed themselves judge, jury, and executioner and I hope they get the maximum sentence.

This was making the rounds this morning. This caused anger roundly in the house. Debbie's BF Brian (who is afro American) wanted to find the----'xx and kick his ..... So I called for calm. I reminded both that they stayed out of the protest so far and should continue.
I told Brian that he should stay the course and become a police officer as he wanted to do.
As the two left a call to his folks was in order...
    And so it goes..

Terrifying moment an enraged American opens fire on a car and shouts 'you're gonna end up f******g dead' at motorist 'who mistakenly turned onto his driveway'

Motorist Charles Landers, 50, claims he was looking for a fishing spot in Grayson County when gunman Michael Truelock, also 50, stopped his vehicle and began to verbally attack him. In the video Landers can be heard saying: 'I didn't know this was your house.' Truelock replied: 'Yeah, you f******g did too.' He then appears to point his firearm through the window and says: 'You're gonna end up f******g dead. That's what's fixin' to happen to you.'

Whoever that is should already be behind bars. That is a blatant show of hatred. Not to mention cowardly display of hatred. If he is so sure he is right why is his face covered. We have laws against promoting hatred here in Alberta, Canada.

There is alot of real fear right now. The non-stop news cycle and hot-headed people denouncing anyone that doesnt agree with them as racist is just fueling the fire.

Most states have laws against wearing masks in public for this very reason, past experience with the Klan. Unfortunately they are not well enforced.
