Staph

Stare..... They are always staring
I post this recent LA Times article in honor of our fearless leader who *apparently* suffered a staph infection that could have ended badly for him. Andy Bales the head (and a minister) of the Union Rescue mission in downtown LA lost a leg to a staph infection ( s. aureus ) some years back acquired in working squalid conditions in LAs skid row. I have a friend in LA who had his right leg removed on account of staph picked up from road rash after falling from his bike in Malibu. Which goes to show your not safe anywhere from this menace. It's in the soil.

Opinion: Killer superbugs are coming for you

Yeah, Staph is nothing to chuckle off, Now, I'm not an aficionado on this subject, I've had it a time or two, But this part may just be fear and rumor, I think a doctor told me once, That once you have it, You pretty much have it in your system for life.

I've known a hand full of people who got it and ... didn't unget it.

It's scary stuff bro.

As Above So Below
This is the second time I've had this infection, the first was during my 6 month stay in Buffalo NY on business a few years ago, put me in the hospital for 12 days with MRSA in my face and neck...The doctors were afraid it would go to my brain and went through five or six different antibiotics before they settled on one that worked and quickly...That episode was very painful and I was on morphine for 7 of those 12 days...Still not sure how I got it then because I had no wounds or injuries, we suspected I got it from staying in the hotel in downtown Buffalo, from some kind of contamination in one of the rooms or from someone in that hotel who was sick...

Sometimes, Even something like a break in the skin is enough. I have found the most common way to get Staph at least in my experience is a spider bite. My doctor told me once, that a lot of spiders don't even have venom, They use whatever bacteria they pick up to infect with. Believe it or not, It will sit there as what you would assume is nothing more than a mosquito bite, and then after not going away, it will begin to grow. It's no fun...
