Deer fatally attacks hunter who shot him

In what officials are calling a bizarre incident, an Arkansas hunter was killed by a deer that he thought he had shot dead.

Thomas Alexander, 66, was hunting deer near Yellville on Tuesday night when he believed he had successfully shot a deer, officials said. Alexander, who lived in the area and was an experienced hunter, was sitting in an elevated deer stand during the state's muzzleloader season, Keith Stephens, chief of communications with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, told ABC News.

After going down to check on his "kill," Alexander soon discovered that the animal was in fact not dead. There was deer blood found in the location where the attack happened, Stephens said. "It appears he shot the deer and he had put his rifle down near the deer stand and walked down to check and make sure it was dead," Stephens said. "And that's when whatever happened, happened."

The deer, which was not fatally injured, got back up and attacked Anderson, who suffered several puncture wounds on his body.

"Our assumption is the deer did gore him with his antlers," Stephens said. Alexander was by himself but was able to call his family for help, who then called emergency responders. He later died at the hospital. Officials do not plan to do an autopsy.

"It's strange. Probably the only time it ever happened. We did have one in 2016 in southern Arkansas -- but that hunter survived," Stephens said.

Officials are still looking for the deer, Stephens said.

Yikes! No chicken sandwich is that good...

Popeyes customers brawl and staff turn on each OTHER amid chaotic scenes as the fast food giant brings back its chicken sandwich

    Untitled.png

Fast food fans have been seen desperately trying to get their hands on Popeyes' hugely popular chicken sandwiches after it returned to restaurants across the country on Sunday. Videos show a man leaping out of his vehicle to punch another, staff spilling out of a branch as they fight (bottom left), and even altercations once customers made it inside the restaurants (top tight). A clip captioned, 'welcome to Ellington Popeyes' shows the moment a customer waiting to make their order walks up to a man at the service window and pounds impatiently on his vehicle (top left). Bottom right, a man is seen pushing a broken down car through the drive-thru.

They look so beautiful and calm. You wouldn't think they were as dangerous as they actually are:

You are way more likely to be killed by deer than by sharks, bears, and gators combined

Cellphone users hit by wave of mysterious texts

People across America awoke on Thursday to find unexplained text messages on their mobile phones.

The mystery began in the early hours of the morning when countless thousands of text messages, many of them completely unintelligible, were suddenly delivered to phones across the US.

Many found that the messages had seemingly been sent by their friends or family members.

One woman - 28-year-old Stephanie Bovee from Portland - was awoken at 5am to receive a text message from her sister which read simply "omg."

Fearing that it was bad news about her newborn nephew, she attempted calling around but couldn't get an answer. It took three hours for her to determine that everything was all right.

After checking into the messages further she discovered that several of her friends had received messages she had sent months ago and that her sister had received texts from February.

It seemed that, for whatever reason, mobile phone companies had suddenly sent out a large wave of text messages that had previously been sent, but hadn't originally been delivered.

"Now it's funny," said Bovee. "But out of context, it was not cool."

A spokeswoman for Sprint has since revealed that a "maintenance update" was responsible, however no specific details have been provided. T-Mobile suggested that it was a "third party vendor issue."

If you happened to receive any strange texts on Thursday, at least now you know the reason why.
