The "Ice Cream Cone UFOs" vs "The Nazi Bell".

1963

Hi guys, .. just came across this "picture" that was being claimed to be a genuine photograph of the famous 1965 Kecksburg UFO, and then claimed that it was the only example of this shape of UFO known, thus being proof of that silly Italian-derived Nazi-bell theory ... and so in response to such a outlandish bit of tomfoolery I managed to track the origin of this picture as being " an artist’s rendering " of the object for the program “UFO’s Are Real”. ... Now , no matter the lack of authenticity of the picture, this has been a case that always held my attention with me not really knowing why? .. because let's face it, though I personally find the case pretty interesting, ..it is no more spectacular nor compelling as many other cases that are 'less famous' . And then it suddenly struck me that the reason for it's comparative high level of notoriety is it's 'unusual shape'... The written testimony descriptions of the object are striking enough being that it was a 'cone shaped object' that was alleged to have crashed into the woods that day... but once you happen to see the 'Kecksburg Acorn' [ the prop left behind by the 1990 t.v show , and placed by residents on an elevated platform on a prominent hill as a publicity attraction] ... then that's an image that is harder to forget than most UFO descriptions.
... And that started me thinking , just how rare is this 'Conical... or Cone-shaped UFO advent?' ... well I must say that after browsing through and reading so many reports over the years with so many variations of UFOs that apart from the classic 'disk-shaped-flying-saucer' which surely must be the most common, there have been so many differently described models testified to... cylinders, triangles etc... and then when thinking about it, I realised that there is also quite a few variants of 'the cone shaped UFOs' that come to mind. ... Such as these examples...

“ It was shaped like an ice cream cone"
UFO/UAP Reports for the North West of England, Urmston, Greater Manchester. 1st December 1978.
Sharon Badcock was drying her hair in her home in Urmston when she saw a brilliant light moving across the sky. “Suddenly another object came out of the bottom of it and descended,” she related in the Manchester Evening News, December 1st, 1978.
“ It was shaped like an ice cream cone, with the point upwards and appeared to be circling with what looked like big tires.” Then the “cone “ projected a bright beam to the larger object “seconds later another returned .”
“I was scared stiff,” Sharon admitted . Sharon’s husband Allan, watched the phenomenon through binoculars. “ It looked about the size of a 10p piece and seemed to be made up of several lights, “ he remarked. Later, it appeared to resemble a web and kept rotating.”
Badcock quickly phoned the police and searched for the UFO, which he said landed, but could not locate it because it had touched down on the other side of the River Mersey. Meanwhile, two policemen had arrived and were watching.

Clinton County Army Airfield in Ohio described the object "as having the appearance of a flaming red cone trailing a gaseous green mist" and observed the object for around 35 minutes.

... and doubtless you can reference a whole lot more of this kind of UFO testimony that would serve to make a mockery of the 'Kecksburg Acorn being proof of the Nazi Bell fantasy'.

Cheers.
