Two moments in time.

While Ian prepared for his senior prom I received a Zoom call from Debbie. After weeks of talking and dating, she had resumed her relationship with her girlfriend Zoe. They sent out photos of them together labeled happy returns. I hope for the best for both.

Last day at Lincoln elementary school. Samantha was praised for being a good student open and friendly. She got an A+
We went to the bulletin board and removed the response Samantha got when she wrote king Charles 3rd. I asked her instructor if he believes that the king ever saw the letter. He said "no but he was told about it. The gold pound Sterling is something the household sends out as a sign of favor."
I asked if anyone got a response that was written by the celebrity.
He said yes showing a hand written letter from singer Taylor swift. It read

Dear B...
When I was your age I watched a man named Mr Rodgers. He told me I was special. That he liked me as I was. Sadly he has died and not many will say it but I will
Your special
Your awesome
I like you just the way you are.
Stay awesome
Taylor swift.
A treasure his parents plan on putting in a safety deposit box.
Off to 5th grade for Samantha!

Senior dinner and awards the 2nd to the last event before graduation. Business owners gave out scholarships and Tim Metcalf (who owns the grocery store where Ian works) came up to present the $30,000 tom Metcalf scholarship. "To a hard waking young man with a bright future Ian watson come on up you deserve it" applause all round. Ian accepted it and said "for you Grandpa"
Tim said "wait you work for me don't you?"
Ian said "yes sir" "I'm offering you the position of 2nd shift manager on duty do you accept?"
Ian Lost it. "I take it as a yes! Your training starts tomorrow!"
Next was the big prize the $50,000 van phelps award scholarship. The principal said "I have a mystery gust to make the award!"
Suddenly the voice of rev noob MRD announcer boomed out "she's escaped from her box slapped on skates and is ready for the future! The Annabelle Doll! "He came out with two skaters from roller Derby one being Kate in full uniform. They handed her the paperwork and kate said "Annabelle I have good news and bad news the good news is MRD has matched your scholarship! The bad news? I'm coming out of retirement to kick your ass on the track! "
To this Anna said "bring it!"
An amazing night. The future awaits

Two events the last of the school year. Ian and Anna at the senior farewell dance.
Across the hall was the spring GLBT MIXER. I was there escort to Chris who was paling around with Ellen and brad. He again came out as bisexual and gender fluid. He said "not limited by choices." A good evening. Ian and Anna saying goodbye to high school and Chris at peace with who and what he is.
Blessed be
Rikki

My nephew, great-nephew actually, says he identifies as black. OK, he's only 22 but my 49 y/o niece does as well. Neither are and she's got blonde hair and blue eyes but I guess you can do that now. Better than deciding you're a furry or something. I have no clue what black people actually make of any of that.

Sometimes I'm glad I'm old and never had to deal with any of that. Can you imagine what it would be like to travel back to say, 1990 and tell people what's going on right now? Speaking as someone who was an adult then I'd be laughing my ass off. We also know several gay couples in our age group who don't know what to make to any of this either.

I see this as proof that we've all been manipulated by the endless media saturation and deliberate control. Sounds crazy but which is crazier ?

Last day von phelps high school. Chris is behind me. Ian is getting his car ready
He walks over. We hug "dad when did I grow up?" I miss riding with you. I miss Grandpa and today I face an end ."
I smiled "the start of a new chapter son. "
He looked at me. I hope I'm as good of a dad as you are."
We went off. The future awaits

Please join Rikki and I in celebration of Ian William Watson who graduate from van Phillips high school today. Ian has come a long way. He was a bully in Middle school and his grades are going downhill.
But then he met Anna and it all changed.
The boy who dreamed and rebellion is now a responsibile man. Today ends his childhood.
And he stands at the door.
Welcome to the future Ian.

Watching my son receiving his diploma from rep Mark pocan. "For you grampa"
Hearing him honor his grandpa in his commencement address.
Looking at face at the tassel turning.
All a mom could want.
The third of my children are grown. I join my husband in celebration.
The wheel turns
Blessed be
Rikki

Today, almost a week after he graduated from high school, the last high school event was held. The memorial Spartans had made it to the state finals. And from the start it was bad. By his last at-bat, it was 11-3 with one on. On the first pitch, Ian sent the ball into the bleachers. 11-5 and so it ended.
And Ian no shame a letter from his coach.recommending him to.the Madison mallards. A farm team for the Brewers.
He was presented with his 4th letter. A final exit from high school. And a fine end to his school baseball days
Very proud
