Who DID blow up the Nord Stream gas pipelines... Russia or America?

Was this the staggering act of self-sabotage by Vladimir Putin (bottom right) that the world assumes it to have been? After all, the president who threatened to 'end' Nord Stream earlier this year resides not in the Kremlin but the White House. US President Joe Biden (middle right) could not have been clearer when, in early February, he promised to bring Nord Stream 'to an end' should Russian troops and tanks enter Ukraine. The invasion happened. So did Mr Biden take revenge as he promised to? At the time he dismissed suggestions such an operation would be too complicated to carry out or too damaging diplomatically given Nord Stream 2 was controlled by Germany. To the doubters, he added: 'We will, I promise you. We will be able to do it.'

Putin annexes four Ukrainian regions and vows to use 'all forces' to defend them raising nuke fears: Ranting despot vows to 'SMASH' the West in blistering Kremlin speech - even as thousands of his troops are surrounded in Donbas​

Vladimir Putin today declared that Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk are officially part of Russia following sham referendums, kicking off a dangerous new phase of the war.

The Russian despot, speaking in front of his cronies in Moscow, declared that 'millions of people' had 'opted' to become vassals of Russia after staging sham referendums in which gun-toting troops went door-to-door with clear glass ballot boxes in order to force people to vote.

'They are our people, forever,' he said to a standing ovation inside the Kremlin's grand Georgian Hall before calling on Ukraine and its Western allies to abandon hopes of re-taking them, repeating a threat to use 'all forces' to defend the 'new territories'.

He then turned his sights on the West, delivering hate-laced screed in which he recalled the horrors of colonialism, both world wars, Korea, and Vietnam; made homophobic jibes and accused westerners of being 'Satanists'; vowed 'Western hegemony will be smashed' and spoke of Russia's 'destiny' to liberate the world.

Putin's promise to protect his 'new territories' will be put to an almost-immediate test as thousands of Russian troops are currently thought to be encircled in Lyman, in the Donetsk region, with the city on the verge of falling and the troops either being captured or killed in the process - possibly within the next few hours.

Russia is also continuing to attack the regions it now claims as part of its own country, firing a rocket at a humanitarian convoy of cars in Zaporizhzhia earlier in the day - killing at least 25 civilians and wounding 50 in the process. The cars were heading into Russian-occupied territory to distribute aid, Ukrainian officials said.

You know what ... more I think this is not Biden's thing. Biden is not that stupid. This must be one of these Russian double-deception things. Like, Russians blew the pipeline up ( because Germans will not be buying Russian gas anymore, anyway ), so that Europeans think that Americans blew it up. So Europeans and Americans divide amongst themselves. Something like that. Russian navy certainly has unrestricted access to Baltic sea.

One thing I don't get is that when Cuban crisis happened, everything was quickly solved behind closed doors with compromise. But now it seems that compromise is not on the cards. Probably because CCCP was many times stronger then Russia on it's own today.

He has long claimed that the Russian warmonger is suffering from serious illnesses including cancer, Parkinson's disease and a schizoaffective disorder. This has been disputed by Western intelligence, with the director of the CIA William Burns saying in July that Putin is 'entirely too healthy', although acknowledged this was an informal assessment of the Russian leader's health. Speculation around Putin's health has been rife in recent years, especially with the increased attention he has recieved since ordering the invasion of Ukraine.

The cuban missile crisis was an entirely different situation. Frankly in all these years I’m surprised someone hasn’t touched a tactical nuke off. What’s scary isn’t necessarily the first one it’s what happens after that. If it doesn’t touch off Armageddon we’ll live in a world in which that has become acceptable

If he is making this point now, then why has he been continually pouring fuel on the fire? What does he intend to do to mitigate the risk? Orchestrate further Russian reversals? The US has chosen to make this an existential fight for the Russian Federation. This in turn will obviously lead it to desperate acts. The supposed prize--Ukrainian self-determination, that we are being conditioned by liberal press conformity into championing--is clearly not a vital strategic interest of the US or even the European nations. The real goal is likely the dissolution of the Russian Federation, but it is such a reckless and risky ambition, and people in the US government must begin to see sense. The world depends on it.

That idiot was only two miles down the road from me yesterday at Poughkeepsie IBM giving an aw-shucks-Joe bullshit speech. He then proceeded to the upper east side of Manhattan for a fundraiser. So POTUS snarled up traffic literally for my entire family here in NY.

I guess I missed my chance to tell him to knock it off.

Nuclear armageddon is the most terrifying scenario that mankind has ever faced. It means 'The End Time,' mass hysteria and bedlam. It's the plot of dystopian science fiction movies. It means life as we know it ceases to exist.

Well, then. Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to a news alert informing me that President Joe Biden has raised the prospect of nuclear Armageddon.

Just an ordinary Thursday night, Joe?

He was speaking to a closed-door fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee at the home of — of all people — Kathryn and James Murdoch, son of Rupert Murdoch of the News Corporation media empire.

The President reportedly said that the risk of global destruction through nuclear war was at its highest since 'Kennedy and the Cuban missile crisis.'

You've got my attention!

That's because, according to Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin ('a guy' he knows 'fairly well') was 'not joking when he talks about the use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons.'

Putin has rattled his nuclear saber before. But in recent days and weeks, as Russian forces in Ukraine have suffered more military setbacks and there are more indications of public dissent inside Russia, the Kremlin strongman has upped the rhetoric.

The talk of 'tactical nuclear weapons' almost makes the prospect more realistic and alarming.

One can envision how even a crazed maniac like Putin may be hesitant to destroy an entire city with a Hiroshima-sized A-bomb. But if the nuclear detonation could be more controlled and 'tactical' would Putin consider it?

Of course, that's unthinkable to most and Biden said that would surely lead to catastrophe.

'I don't think there's any such thing as the ability to easily [use] a tactical nuclear weapon and not end up with Armageddon,' he said.

Apparently, Biden believes that a cornered Putin is a more dangerous Putin because the ex-KGB killer won't take losing lightly.

'We are trying to figure out: What is Putin's off ramp?' Biden blathered on in a remarkable moment of revealing what-must-be highly sensitive national security deliberations in a public setting.

As long as nuclear weapons exist, we are always in danger. They are an existential threat. I know that's vague and a little pessimistic, but increased time brings an increased chance for mistakes to be made. Before this war, we did not know what would happen if Russia attacked a European neighbor and NATO supported that neighbor. Now we at least know that we can go a few months without the situation triggering a nuclear war. That doesn’t mean that the risk is zero; on the contrary this war is high risk event.
