I took Pie out very early and all sound was completely absorbed and everything was bathed in an eerie twilight. Absolutely beautiful. It's still snowing so I'll go out in an hour or two and clear it, looks like only 3-4".
Good hot tub weather.

A nitwit we know started texting this morning likes to ask us things like 'do you have warm waterproof boots for the snow?'
Uhhhhh, yes..... after six decades of New York weather yes we are in fact smart enough to stay warm and dry.
IDK if anyone else did this but winter was always time for a new pair of 'boondockers' from the Army-Navy store that you would have to run down with that waxy stuff to waterproof them. Same stuff you'd have to slorp up the shovels with so the snow didn't stick.

Yeah my wife says the masses are already out in force shopping before the snow blizzard is upon us...We have most of what we need already, in case we lose power for a few days, the only thing remaining on the list is propane...I have to go this evening and get all the tanks filled up, if we lost power we will have propane heat that requires no electricity to run...I have my generator and gasoline for that all set up...Planning to be snowed in for about three days lol...

I warned my neighbor about two dangerous pine trees that are not in good shape and are leaning right towards his house. Storms like this make me wonder if I'll hear a loud craaaaaaack and thump as pines unfortunately have a tendency to do. He has to sleep there, I don't. I couldn't with the Tree of Damocles hanging over my head...............................................

The hot tub enclosure is my concern. I have a roof rake and will have to periodically clear it because I have no idea what sort of snow load it can handle (and don't want to find out).
My neighbors were looking at me like I finally went around the bend yesterday because I ran the snow thrower around the front lawn and cleared a big area. I told one of them I missed mowing the lawn terribly and this was all I could do..... I'll stick our vehicles out there tomorrow evening which will make clearing the driveway considerably easier. Have to do it several times, you can't just wait until its all done.
Not overly worried about it but the local news and weather services are making it sound like Ragnarök

The county executive posted a travel ban starting at 0300 tomorrow - essential services vehicles only. Rare.

It's five below zero so naturally 7am was the best time to go out on the deck and sear a big Fred Flintstone steak. Crock pot loaded, deliciousness to ensue.

Here we go. It's 0 degrees out there and piling up really fast.
I had to run to Lowes yesterday to pickup some miscellaneous stuff unrelated to the weather and saw a line of people getting generators. Seems to me that waiting the day before an event like this is not exactly the best time to decide to setup and use a new generator. Mine is all squared away and I hope not to need it.
Our moronic governor issued a statement that told people who lose power to huddle together in one room and enjoy their time together
This from a woman sitting in a multimillion dollar abode that probably has a hefty automatic standby generator. God what a nitwit.

Its been snowing all day, piling up with a mild wind and now ice is falling, and forecast to continue falling until midnight tonight...We are at 14 degrees currently and dropping...I have to work tomorrow, if the power goes out im staying home otherwise I'll attempt to get out of my driveway at 6 am tomorrow but don't know if this car will do it...

We went out last night about 6pm and spent two hours clearing snow. We got at least two feet and I'm waiting for it get get light out so I can do it again. I took a few 'before' pics and will take a few 'after' when the sun comes up. Haven't seen one like this in a very long time.
This was in the early afternoon. It was zero outside, the tub is 105 degrees F hence the fog. Stay off the Moors, stick to the road............
Actually I indulged a bit, grabbed a few beers and floated in there like sea garbage for an hour. That's the only sensible way to deal with these things.
