Civil Unrest & Protests

Reminds me of Reverend Al Sharpton in his classic track suit & golden coffee saucer days. He amped Tawana Brawley up to the point it had national attention.

What wasn’t shown at the time was that they had to bus protesters in. All us hick locals got to watch the show. Some of us hick locals suffered massive slander & libel that caused grief for years, some just committed suicide. Al got famous.

Same underlying issues 30+ years later. The attention seekers and grifters have assured there won’t be any honest discussion of what’s going on. Just name calling, baiting and insanity.

Agree 100%. I don't have a solution to all this nonsense, other than keep trying to do what is right. I just made a donation to a local orphanage, and I'm sure everyone else here is doing what seems right and good for humanity in their own way.

The shadow

The shadow knows!
Kenosha is burning. We have a man who was shot 7 times in the back. I seen the videos. Guy disobey orders appears to be going for a knife..
Then we have a man who had an AR 15. Cops thank him.. 3 people are dead.
Our governor refused help . Refused to send more than 250 NG. Failure of leadership..

I expect that many of those louts bringing guns to protests and counter protests believe that they are standing up for their Second Amendment rights. I think it is likely that their actions are doing much more to imperil the right to bear arms, however. It is one thing to defend your immediate vicinity against looting and criminal damage. It is quite another to travel out of town or to a different state allegedly to defend someone else's property or to 'help' law enforcement.

Our Elected Leaders Must Oppose the Growing Lawlessness in the Country

A clear and metastasizing disdain for law, order, and reason is growing unchecked in parts of our country. We are seeing what happens to a society without order or trust. Mob rule, lawlessness, and distrust are taking root. Burrowing surreptitiously, at first, into the national conversations over race, radicals have revealed themselves as interested not in racial justice but in revolution. They seek changes that are as revolutionary as they are dangerous.

As Wisconsin seems to be the epicenter of so much these days, its experiences are telling and alarming. The recent riots in Kenosha have been frightening. In response to the police shooting of a black man, rioters set 34 fires, destroyed 30 businesses, burned American flags, and wreaked havoc with the police. Early reports suggest that vigilantes have opposed them with force. At a recent protest in Madison, an organizer declared: “This is not a peaceful protest, so if you came out here for a peaceful protest, you missed it.” Police reports immediately after the first round of riots in Madison indicate that over 75 stores were damaged or looted. One store saw looters steal 90 percent of its inventory. In response to events in Kenosha, rioters in Madison smashed windows at the state capitol, the courthouse, and (once again) businesses up and down the street.

Looting and rioting have stained many of our great cities. Seattle even endured a so-called autonomous zone for nearly a month in which rioters, unchecked by any legitimate government authority, invaded, annexed, and controlled portions of the city. They even hung a banner on the police station that read: “THIS SPACE IS NOW PROPERTY OF THE SEATTLE PEOPLE” (as though it had previously belonged to some other people).

Shamefully, too many of our elected leaders have refused to oppose or even strongly criticize this lawlessness. Seattle’s mayor called the Antifa riots a “block party” instead of what they truly are — an armed rebellion. Portland mayor Ted Wheeler was a pathetic prop for radical rioters until they (ironically) deemed him a fascist and heaped trash at him. When he could be bothered to discuss it, Wisconsin’s attorney general simply remarked last May that looting is “destructive of property, of businesses that people have spent years building, and of public safety,” before he bemoaned that the looters “have, unfortunately, diverted some of the public discourse away from where it belongs.”

Some leaders have been quick to blame law enforcement even as they turn a blind eye to lawlessness. Before all the facts even came out from the Kenosha shooting, Wisconsin’s Democratic governor issued a press release stating: “While we do not have all the details yet, what we know for certain is he is not the first Black man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement in our state or in our country . . . we stand against excessive use of force and immediate escalation when engaging with Black Wisconsinites.” The governor tossed Wisconsin’s law enforcement under the bus.

But turning a blind eye to lawlessness harms us all. Mob law is no law.

During the chaos that inevitably reigns during mob rule, the innocent suffer along with the guilty. Once whipped into a frenzy, mobs rarely exercise sound judgment; they exact their revenge indiscriminately. A mob is just as likely to take out its vengeance on the meek as on those it considers blameworthy. Indeed, minority-owned small businesses have been hit especially hard by the riots in Milwaukee and elsewhere. Perhaps that is why 81 percent of black Americans actually want the police to spend the same or a greater amount of time in their neighborhoods.

This is getting a little too real for my taste. My niece is a single mom with a new baby and a small business - in Kenosha.

We spoke for a bit last night, she said that there are outsiders coming in from all over the place and that it's literally chaos in the streets. She can't just bug out for safety's sake - obligations. Her block formed some sort of community group so there's always someone on watch. Quite a few businesses have been put to the torch as well as at least one municipal building. She runs a group home and is worried they're going to burn the place. She's literally right in the middle of this crap.

And all that in the midst of a pandemic.

Put your mask on when you go out and maintain your social distance, unless of course you're protesting and agitating. If so you're obviously totally immune to covid, can't spread it and everything should be just fine. Don't even worry about it, get back to the wanton destruction, random violence and other means of correcting social injustice.

I hope she stays safe and clear of this radical violence, it's complete madness...

Unbelievable our elected officials are standing by and some even siding with these barbarians in the streets destroying everything they can...This isn't some protest of a shooting, this is using the shooting as a reason to pillage and burn...This must be stopped post haste before it gets so far out of hand that our military is deployed in full force...Much of this barbarism is being used as political fodder because it's election year, if we didn't have a presidential election on the horizon much of this violence would have been stopped immediately, IMO...

If we have bad cops get rid of them, we don't get rid of the law and order established in our country without real consequence and we are getting a taste of what may happen and worse if we allow these barbaric acts continue...

Those morons in St.Louis waving an AR and a handgun at protestors were total dumbasses. Had the crowd been kicking their door in or setting fire to the house, then maybe a different story. But putting on a fat parade with guns, nooooo. Don't think so.

Exactly!

You don't brandish guns just to intimidate people. That just gives stronger arguments to the anti-gun lobby and provoke the passing of new anti-gun legislation. Guns should stay out of sight until your or somebody else's life in absolute and unquestionable danger.

This is what happens when nobodies get a say.

Four more years will prove a more peaceful time than Biden being a back door access for the far left. If Biden wins then I guess we might get see what white priveledge really means.

I'm nobody and I know my place in the world.

I am encouraged when I see what the far left has become, it had its day here with momentum which was a cult like movement but you guys are way deeper in.

Yes, yes, yes, 100%. I'm a firm gun rights supporter but I also think these idiots dressing like Call of Duty characters while brandishing rifles are hurting our cause in ways that the gun ban crowd never could. Perhaps worse, the other side is now doing the same thing. We had such an incident in Louisville not long ago, and by some miracle there was no violence. One dummy did manage to accidentally shoot himself though.

Truthiness
It's complicated When we account for the known fact that a lot of these people protesting are taking on the activity not as a form of social unrest, but as a paid employment opportunity. A great many, If not all of these protesters they aren't really backing political lean, They are paid, thugs, Much akin to mercenaries or even terrorists.

Even though we Citizens pay the fatality rate, This War is the result of a power divide between REP And DEMs having their own private Civil war.

The question is, When will We, The Functioning backbone of the nation recognize this and do something about it. Because the truth is, The divide is so evenly split these "demonstrations" will continue until we truly Drain the Swamp or dissolve the government and create a new more meaningful Constitution.
Let's face it. This is happening because we are running our nation on a nonfunctional set of amendments that were in place when we were fighting for our independence.

What blows me away is When people see violent protesters kill someone, They see a Crazed Democrat or a victimized republican, But they don't see the truth of a government that is in a full civil war with itself.

Who pays the price for this war? Innocent citizens who have no power, People who can only support a political lean and hope for change. But the real villains are the powerful Jaded political forces who are at war with themselves. So what do they do? They sacrifice us in violent protests Like throwing virgins into a volcano, Just to make pointless statements that get the media's attention.

I tell you all truthfully, The government, Both red and blue care nothing for the Common, the poor the downtrodden. we are nothing but statistics that they can demonstrate upon and punish because We have too much faith in a corrupt system that has no faith in us.
