How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

And Buster has shown us more love and affection..

Yeah same with my dog, he's been so happy that I'm home more than nought, giving him so much more time than I could when I was working so much which isn't going to happen again anytime soon, the working so much part...I'm not working any job that demands more than 20-30 hours a week, don't need it and don't want it, life is too short now to waste so much time working to make other people money...

It looks like reality has finally set in. My wife’s family normally has a get together at Christmas time. My in-laws were holding off until the last moment to decide if there would be dinner at their home. The though was by the end of 2020 things would improve. Well, just the opposite has happened.

For me, I won’t miss spending time with the in-laws. My wife is a big family person and she is disappointed to say the least. Her family is scattered across the East Coast of the US. It isn’t easy to get everyone together. The explanation that this is for the best rings hollow for her at holiday season. Saying that the situation will improve is just hopeful talk at this time. Christmas 2021 seems a long ways off.

My mother is like that, she loves having all her grandchildren (my nieces and nephew), my brothers and their wives together at Xmas, my aunt and uncle in Georgia usually come too, but it doesn't look like that will happen this year, especially with my brother still recovering from covid...Its just too risky a chance to take with my mother being 86yo, she doesnt need to be exposed to covid accidentally or otherwise...

Could Coronavirus be spreading through frozen foods ? The Flu virus survived on the Moon for over 20 years so anything is possible .

Just for the hell of it I took a look at the county I live in. Dutchess County, NY. Population about 294,000 with a great deal of commute traffic. Two large and one small hospitals with a combined 772 bed capacity. Right now there are 42 people hospitalized for covid. Maximum was about 125 when this started. To date 186 people have died.

I'm about to go into a store that will have thousands of people jammed into it today. And it's one of several here in the area. One unintended consequence of closures is that the big box store thrive while the small ones die so people tend to concentrate in them more for lack of any other choice. Black Friday, every retailer in this county is balls out.

I'll dial back into the stats in two weeks and see what there is to see.

On Thanksgiving day none of the family members gathered however I did go by my mother's house, she cooked for her and myself, I dropped off a bottle of wine she likes and dessert and she had dinner cooked and packed up in a cooler for me...She had the cooler out on the front porch for me to pick up, we spoke through her full view storm door for a bit then I left the wine and dessert on the porch and went back home with the dinner she cooked...Ate Thanksgiving dinner with my dog in my dinng room this year lol...

Black Friday shopping was probably a hot mess, but I don't get involved in that craziness in the stores even when things were normal in the past...I haven't left my property in a few days with the exception of picking up dinner on my mother's porch and I don't plan to go anywhere until Tuesday next week, I have some errands to run then...

That's terrible. I'm truly sorry that this is happening.

Well that's nothing compared to the overseas death rates we have been very very lucky here to have had a low death rate. Unemployment is bad as it is leaving people destitute not being able to pay rent or get enough food for their families. But the vaccines are nearly here ,so they say, so hopefully that will improve things on a global scale eventually. :)

I doubt a vaccine will bring back jobs, but here's hoping people get enough to pay rent and food for their families.

The shadow

The shadow knows!
Yesterday we attended the funeral for the twins friend that died from covid.
I will not go into details of it. The deepest grief. I can not imagine the pain and suffering.

Corona is raging in Finland, and it has pretty much killed my social life for this year, since im part of the risk group. Im even hesitating to go to my fathers place on christmas eve, even tough theres only like 3 other people there. I hope we get the decent vaccines here soon and there will be minimum side effects. This has probably been one of the worst years of my life. I hope 2021 will be a big improvement. For all of us.

A week and a day later in this area: 77 people hospitalized right now , 192 have died to date.

Not making light of it just having some difficulty reconciling that to the masses of people shopping, having holiday parties, etc.

I had to drive to town this morning, it was packed with people shopping, at least 10 percent no mask wearing and our county is spiking high numbers so they say...You almost couldn't find a parking place at Lowe's home improvement...

Had a difficult time finding toilet paper at the stores yesterday. Finally found a pack at Walmart. The guy at Costco says that they run out of tp within the first 3 hours of opening everyday.

I've heard no end of theories about what people will do lacking TP but no paper towels? Ragnarok.
