The P C Madness thread.

I think political correctness is sometimes used as a way for a small group to control a large group, like insisting that the PTA cannot have a Halloween carnival for the kids and as a fund raiser for the school. One person complains and the principal tries to cancel it, but we changed the name of it to Harvest Festival and went ahead with everything else the same, costumes, gypsy fortune teller, haunted house, etc. When someone starts trying to change the language and say that it is wrong to use the words mother and father to describe our parents that is going way too far. Apparently that is a thing and it is not rational at all. All the bathroom things that people get their panties in a wad over are also ridiculous. I noticed that a response to those complaints were that the bathroom labels were changed to "unisex" or "family". :laugh8:

I think the whole PC madness was started by a woman in England years ago when she mentioned the words "Vertically Challenged " to describe short people.

PC police strike again as Hasbro rebrands Mr. Potato Head as gender-neutral 'Potato Head,' but not renaming individual toys

Mr. Potato Head, the classic Hasbro toy brand which includes the mustachioed Mr. Potato Head and clean-shaven Mrs. Potato Head, will soon be rebranded as the gender-neutral "Potato Head" toy line.

The new branding will be reflected on packaging scheduled to debut later this year, the Associated Press reported on Thursday.

Hasbro says its Mr. Potato Head brand, which includes all kinds of toy tubers, is being changed simply to "Potato Head" in order to "better reflect the full line." The brand stresses, however, that neither of the individual Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head toys will be renamed.

Sometimes it seems that the changes are coming so fast for a reason. Like maybe getting the Earth ready for some hybrids.

Zombies are real. Cancel culture, political correctness is the zombie virus. Once infected people lose rational thought, free will and individual thought. They are zombified and become one of the herd. The world is fighting 2 pandemics on 2 fronts. The covid virus and the zombie virus.

OK I get it. Women can be potato heads too. But what are they going to call the female version?

Jesus, there's a number of plastic bits that they DON'T give you to stick on your potato head toys so the need for gender neutral goddamned potatoes is absolutely astonishing.

Soooooo many people soooooo hung up about who rubs what where. As long as nobody minds who cares.
And for all those who do things that others do mind - Andrew Cuomo .... paging Andrew Cuomo ..... I offer this simple bit of PF advice. It worth what you paid for it.

Go smoke a joint, jerk off and then fix yourself a nice sandwich. Wash your hands first.

Just think about how many people would have avoided sooooo much nonsense had that simple advice been followed.

Biden erases Dr. Seuss from 'Read Across America' proclamation as progressives seek to cancel beloved author

President Biden appears to have erased Dr. Seuss from "Read Across America Day", the annual celebration of reading in honor of the legendary children's author, whose birthday falls on March 2. While Biden followed presidential tradition in proclaiming Tuesday "Read Across America Day," he bucked his predecessors by leaving out any mention of Dr. Seuss from the proclamation.

The White House didn't immediately return a request for comment on why Dr. Seuss was left out of the proclamation, but the snub comes as progressives have sought to cancel the beloved children's author. One of Virginia's biggest school districts, Loudoun County Public Schools, reportedly nixed Dr. Seuss from the school's "Read Across America Day" celebration, citing alleged racial "undertones" in his children's books.

Former President Barack Obama and former President Donald Trump both highlighted Dr. Seuss' contributions in their annual proclamations, a Fox News review of White House archives found.

"The works of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to us as Dr. Seuss, have sparked a love for reading in generations of students.," Obama said in his 2015 proclamation. "His whimsical wordplay and curious characters inspire children to dream big and remind readers of all ages that 'a person's a person no matter how small."

Obama's 2016 proclamation described Seuss as "one of America's revered wordsmiths" who "used his incredible talent to instill in his most impressionable readers universal values we all hold dear."

Trump, in his 2018 proclamation, urged Americans to "always remember the still-vibrant words of Dr. Seuss: 'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.'"

Then-first lady Melania Trump celebrated Read Across America Day in 2017 by reading Dr. Seuss books to hospitalized children. "Dr. Seuss has brought so much joy, laughter and enchantment into children’s lives all around the globe for generations," Melania said at the time. "Through his captivating rhymes, Dr. Seuss has delighted and inspired children while teaching them to read, to dream, and to care."

I came across "PC madness" on Twitter recently. I applauded Megyn Kelly in her talk with Bill Maher, and was reminded she was fired. I looked into the situation and it was for talking positively about dressing up as a POC for Halloween thing o_O.

I thought about it and I remembered my first ever Halloween costume was MR T! I was a white kid who didn't know English but I saw the show and I loved the character of MR T! I might not have put on "blackface" but I had a mask of Mr T I wore. I will try to find a picture. The "racism" part only comes into play by the person critiquing, even a child playing a character he really liked on TV (like Adam Corolla did) has no conception of the subject or knows what it is. The entire problem is within the people with the problem looks like.

Dr. Seuss Cancelled - Sales of 6 Dr. Seuss books to cease over 'racist and insensitive imagery,' announces author's foundation

The sales of six Dr. Seuss books will cease over racist and insensitive imagery, according to the business that preserves and protects the author's legacy.

The news comes Tuesday on National Read Across America Day, when schools across the U.S. celebrate reading on Dr. Seuss's March 2 birthday to commemorate the popular children's author, who died in 1991.

"These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong," Dr. Seuss Enterprises told The Associated Press in a statement.

"Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families," the statement continued.

Sad that they've drunk the Kool-Aid.
(Unless there's a way for them to make a killing on the books becoming collector's items.)

The last paragraph I quoted has me wondering what their plan is, are they going to rewrite the Dr. Seuss books or give them a lobotomy?...

Why is President Biden getting blamed for this? The article I read (will try to find it) said it was one politician in one school district. This is ridiculous. If anyone is trying to get rid of Dr. Suess it is because of his positive messages and fun word play that encourages imagination and thought.
