Fireballs and Mystery Booms Around the World

As Above So Below
Fireballs and Mystery Booms Around the World Remain a Mystery
Terrifying and unexplained explosion noises have been heard around the world in the past few months, sometimes within a few hours of one another and on opposite sides of the world. While this phenomenon is nothing new, it certainly seems to be happening with increasing frequency lately.

In my home state of North Carolina, a powerful booming sound rattled windows and doors earlier this month shortly before a piece of rocket debris washed up on NC’s shores. A few weeks later on October 18th, a similar loud explosion was heard not far from the same area with enough pressure to cause glass doors to bow inwards. At this time there’s still no explanation for the sound.

Much farther north, similar powerful booms were heard and felt in Alaska and British Columbia on that same day, October 18. Residents of Charlie Lake, B.C. said the boom was so loud and percussive that they thought something had exploded nearby or fallen on their houses.

Spokespersons with both the Canadian Armed Forces and the B.C. Oil and Gas Commission say they know of no activities which could explain the anomalous booms. However, some B.C. residents took to social media to say they saw a fireball streaking across the sky that night. Could a small meteorite have caused this explosion in the sky?

Similar fireballs were seen in Sri Lanka on October 16th and in the United Arab Emirates on October 18th. While the Sri Lanka fireball is believed to have been a small meteorite, the UAE fireball was explained as falling debris from the Russian Progress space module which recently delivered some rather mysterious cargo to the ISS.

Could all of these fireballs and mystery booms be merely natural phenomena, or is something darker happening here? Are we being kept in the dark about an impending meteorite bombardment, or perhaps could some sort of corporate aerospace black ops or classified military operation be underway? Whatever the cause, something strange is afoot overheard, that’s for sure.

Debris from a comet is in our area of space right now. Meteors expected

METEORS FROM HALLEY'S COMET: Earth is entering a stream of debris from Halley's Comet, source of the annual Orionid meteor shower. Last night, NASA's network of all-sky meteor cameras detected 23 Orionid fireballs over the USA--a result of comet dust hitting the atmosphere at speeds exceeding 65 km/s (145,000 mph). Forecasters expect the shower to peak on Oct. 21-22 with as many as 25 meteors per hour. Visit Spaceweather.com for observing tips and sky maps.

I have heard something similar in Australia, I don't know if you would call it a boom, but more a rumble. I remember sitting inside in my room, and there was this incredible rumble. Very hard to describe. I ran outside and it was a really thick fog. I heard this incredible rumble pass over my house heading from east to west. I would like to say it was an aircraft, but it was too slow. I have heard planes and so on at airshows pass over head, helicopters and so on. But it didn't sound like that at all. The only description I can give is that it sounded slow, and utterly huge. And with the thick fog it felt as if I could reach up and touch it. It shook everything. It passed over, slowly, I suppose it must have been a few minutes between hearing it inside and with me outside and it becoming faint. I am no scientist, I suppose it could be atmospheric? But, my uneducated guess felt like it was a massive craft of some sort, in the fog, really close, and really slow. I have heard it twice over the years. It was like nothing I have ever heard of, and sounded like nothing I can compare it to.
Oh, at the time I lived near Ballarat Victoria, that's right down the bottom of OZ in the colder bit :)

I live way down further down than you do and I haven't heard anything. I wonder if its an atmospheric Boomy type thing caused by cold air meeting hot air or something ? It really is odd.

Comon, Farts are always good value, the best one is to let a silent but deadly one go in a car, count to three and say, can anyone smell petrol? Of course what does everyone then do? Take a big sniff looking for petrol. It's hilarious.

This meteor was seen over Phoenix, Arizona.

Did you catch that bright light that streaked across the night sky Tuesday over the Phoenix area?

The city of Phoenix captured the illumination on one of its observation cameras and posted it to Twitter.

In the video, a large, glowing bulb appears in the top-right frame then fades out in three seconds. A smaller light can also be seen in the lower portion of the frame, off in the horizon.

It happened around 8:30 p.m.
